The fact that Peeta could positively identify primroses at the end of Mockingjay leads me to believe he knew he was picking wild onion for Katniss at the end of THG.
Peeta knew he was gifting Katniss something pretty and edible.

hearing the hunger games on stage cast being asked if they’re “team peeta or team gale” (and answering team gale) really makes me long for a book accurate tv show where all involved thoroughly understand the characters and the underlying themes of the books

My most precious quote of all in Sunrise on the Reaping is “I didn't want to let them in, her and Peeta, but the walls of a person's heart are not impregnable, not if they have ever known love.”
BECAUSE love truly saves. I'm sick of people trying to devalue love as one of the main plots of The Hunger Games, when it constantly shows us that love builds, heals, and saves the characters. Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta build their lives after trauma, pain, and loss with love as their foundation. Yes, love doesn't solve everything, but it's strong enough to give us hope every day if, and only if, we're brave enough to choose it, even if it means losing it at some point.

The real tragedy of Catching Fire isn’t Snow realizing Katniss loves Peeta.
It’s Peeta realizing that Katniss loves him.
He’s in the arena with the girl that he loves, again.
He knows the Quarter Quell is meant to punish Katniss for something they both did.
Now she’s got it in her head that she’s suppose to save him. But she doesn’t understand she has people who need her at home.
So he tries to reminder of her family, but she won’t listen and kisses him. Really kisses him.
And for a moment he loses himself. He’s captivated by her lips. He knows he should pull and try to reason with her but the kiss doesn’t end.
There’s something very different about this kiss, he can feel it. It’s sloppy and desperate and urgent. This kiss isn’t for the cameras, it’s just Katniss.
They break apart (after getting caught) and he can see it in her eyes.
She loves him.
But they’re in the arena and only one of them can leave, and it’s going to be her.
They protected each other, it wasn’t until they got separated that it all went wrong.

”We showed him that clip of you singing ‘The Hanging Tree’. It never aired, so the capitol couldn’t use it when he was being hijacked. He says he recognised the song.” “- He couldn’t, Haymitch. He never heard me sing that song”.
“Not you. Your father. He heard him singing it one day when he came to trade at the bakery. Peeta was small, probably six or seven, but he remembered it because he was specially listening to see if the birds stopped singing,” says Haymitch. “ Guess they did”.

Reading through Catching Fire for the first time right now, SPOILER ALERT, Finnick and Katniss just decided to prank Peeta by waking him up while they have disgusting ointment all over them. I think this might be one of the most important scenes in the whole book. They decide to have fun, create a moment of joy in the bleakest of circumstances. They are defying the Capitol blatantly, just by existing. Everything about this book is phenomenal.

we don't talk enough about how when gale was whipped, peeta stood up for him and went up there because he knew he was katniss' best friend (and maybe lover for all he knew) and he didn't make any comments about it to katniss at all (at least not romance related ones)
but when peeta was tortured and hijacked, gale compared himself to him and said he would never top that level of pain and now katniss won't choose him

Katniss describes her desire for Peeta as hunger. Which is already an insane way to define attraction to someone.
The only thing crazier is the fact that Peeta feeds her.
He literally feeds her with bread but also with kisses… bread boy knows how to please.
They’re both not normal about each other.

Honestly the "but Peeta wanted kids so bad" line from the Mockingjay epilogue is really funny to me because for three books Katniss has been projecting her desire for children onto a guy who hasn't really ever verbally expressed any interest in having kids, so I do genuinely think the whole "kids vs. no kids" debate happened entirely internally for Katniss and one day she just went "ok, you win, let's have kids" and Peeta's at the kitchen table like"?????? Ok??????"
