Damien is not an overrated character. Despite being very popular and usually placing high in tier lists, the fandom doesn't give him excessive atention (at least not anymore), but a moderate amount. While he didn't completely turn out in season 2 the way the fandom predicted, he was still good for what he was and his fans have reasons to get upset about his elimination.
