some queerplatonic polyam flags i made mainly for myself since i experience queerplatonic attraction and am polyamorous myself and wanted a flag specifically for that but they're free to use dfgh
i mainly took colours from the queerplatonic flag and the blues present in some of the polyam flags i've seen :) mostly because it was hard for me to not see a qp polyam flag without those colours! i have both the main versions w/ the infinity heart symbol (regular and a simplified), and then those without it

hiii who wants angsty Stapler writing i did instead of paying attention in economics
because i actually managed to complete this relatively quickly as i'm biased towards Lykos <3 Lykos uses he/it pronouns but i wanted to use it/its pronouns for it in this (also whether this takes place in my au or a more canon-based timeline. i have no clue i wrote it so it can be both)
-
“So everyone else is…”
“Gone. It’s only us now.”
“You sure this isn’t some kind of joke?”
“Lykos, when have I ever joked about something like that?”
“Fair enough.”
A few beats of silence phased through the tension. Lykos broke it with a sigh, crossing its arms. Olly didn’t seem too bothered by it, glancing away. He really isn’t kidding. It adjusted the claw straps fastened to its hands, grimacing. I’m going to have to fight Mario and Olivia after all.
Of course, this was a thing Lykos had been vaguely aware of from the start. Joining Olly meant fighting those who tried to oppose him, either striking them down for good or utilizing the magic given to it in order to give Olly a loyal origami army. He hadn’t quite said that when telling Lykos about it, but it was enough for it to be aware of the risks. But that still didn’t keep Lykos from the wishful thinking that it wasn’t going to end up dealing with the plumber and the king’s traitorous sister itself - honestly? It was expecting one of the other members in the legion of stationery to finish them off. But they all failed…and it’s only me and Staples…
A loud whine could be heard at Lykos’ feet. It looked down and saw Staples, who was leaning against Lykos’ leg. An almost somber expression was on the dog’s face, his ears flat against his head. Reaching down, Lykos gently pat Staples’ head. I won’t let them hurt you, I promise.
“We need to prepare for their arrival.” Olly glanced wearily at the castle walls, his hands fallen to his sides. “I refuse to go down without a fight.”
Lykos nodded, albeit hesitantly. Ever since the first streamer fell, nothing could exactly topple the stress piling onto Lykos. It and Staples both agreed to assist Olly in exchange for his magic - magic that would help keep them both alive in light of their fading divine ancestor. If Olly were to lose, Lykos would be forfeiting its and Staples’ lives. All the other Vellumentals had sealed themselves away from the world for centuries, and were apparently willing to let Scale fade away even in times of great peril. Lykos was struggling to get through each day as the fading got worse, and Staples…he was an old dog, from what Lykos gathered when it first met him. It wasn’t sure how long he had been alive, but it was long enough for Staples to constantly teeter on the brink of life and death. Olly was the only one able to grant them the power to continue living, even when Scale would be completely faded.
That wasn’t even including the fact that the others were gone as well. More specifically, Coda and Saxen. They were the only members of the legion that Lykos had met and actively talked with in its free time, despite Olly’s orders to remain at their stations and for Lykos to refrain from getting distracted in its work. Lykos didn’t expect to meet them, nor to begin caring for them as much as it did. Now that both the yellow and green streamers were gone…Lykos had no one else in the legion to turn to, unless it decided to count Staples. Coda was the first to go, and then came Saxen - her streamer had only fallen a day or two ago. It didn’t find out about her defeat until it had left its workshop to check on Olly. Her streamer was the last one that remained in the wind, once ever resilient in the face of potential failure.
The green streamer was now mere confetti.
Lykos glanced out the castle windows. It didn’t want to believe they were dead, especially not Saxen or Coda - Saxen was a formidable fighter, and Coda was a descendant in a line of powerful fire demivellumentals. How could some plumber take them both out so easily, along with the other members of the legion? It had never met the others, of course, but it was certain Olly saw something in them that compelled him to let them join the ranks of the legion.
Maybe they aren’t dead, and are just…hiding somewhere. Recovering, even. It was a hopeful thought that kept playing in its mind, but even then, Lykos struggled to believe in its own words. It hadn’t seen the streamers fall for itself, but it did remember seeing the five, vibrant streamers fluttering in the air, encasing the Mushroom Kingdom. The sky was a bright array of colour.
Now a clear sky blue was painted across the skies, only accompanied by white, cloudy specks.
“How long do we have until they come?” Lykos asked, its voice hoarse. Ever since Coda’s defeat, it hadn’t spoken as much as it used to.
Olly bit his lip. “Not long. They’ll be approaching the castle soon.” He lifted his necklace, revealing a folded paper crane on its string. “But I’ve nearly completed all one thousand of the paper cranes. As long as I can finish them and that Mario…everything will be fine.”
Lykos’ gaze drifted towards the pile of cranes behind the throne, all stacked in a neat and organized fashion. Some were hung in the air, but most of them were cluttering the back, a flock in their own right. It hadn’t kept track of how many cranes Olly had been folding, but it was enough for Lykos to figure that their plan was close to becoming a genuine reality. Enough for Lykos to continue holding onto a small sliver of hope that it and Staples had a chance at surviving after all.
“Do…do you think we can revive the others with the cranes?”
Something odd flashed in Olly’s gaze, but Lykos couldn’t quite describe it. “We’ll bring them back, I promise,” he said, breaking the silence.
It wanted to press on the topic more, but refrained from doing so. Olly wouldn’t like it, and honestly…Lykos couldn’t find it in itself to question him further, despite its vague curiosity. The specifics didn’t matter; if it and Olly managed to win, then Coda, Saxen, and the other legion members would be back. It would be able to reunite with them and maybe meet the other legion members that it never got to meet. It and Staples wouldn’t have to die a pointless, lonely death that would only serve to be overshadowed by Scale’s own fading, if anyone remembered them. It and Staples would be free from the chains keeping them confined.
I just want Coda and Saxen back.
If it had to fight Mario and Olivia to do so, then so be it. If it had to fight harder than it ever had in its life to beat their inevitable match, then so be it. If it had to fight for its life and struggle pathetically to do so, then it didn’t matter. Lykos was not going down that easily, whether it and Staples lived or not.
“I want you both guarding the throne room,” he commanded with a shaky breath. “If they come bursting in before I’m done, then this all was for nothing.”
All or nothing. “How long do you need me to stall for?”
Olly grimaced, scanning his pile of cranes. “Not long. Just…enough so that dealing with Mario and my sis- Olivia, won’t be as much of a struggle.” He looked up at Lykos, barely meeting its gaze. “Everything is on the line now. Don’t do anything foolish.”
Like the others, he means? Lykos couldn’t speak for the others, but…Coda and Saxen weren’t fools. Not to its knowledge, at least. How were they foolish? As far as it knew, they fought as hard as they could - then again, maybe it was because they ended up getting defeated. Maybe that was what Olly meant by it. But I know Coda and Saxen, and they aren’t fools.
For the sake of not wanting an argument, Lykos kept its mouth shut. All that really mattered was beating Mario and bringing the others back. As long as it could do that, then the whole argument would be a null point. If Olly managed to finish his cranes in time, and Lykos could stall Mario and Olivia successfully…everything would be okay. It had to be.
Nothing more came from Olly’s mouth as Lykos stood there, in silence. He’s not going to budge…he needs to finish those paper cranes, anyways. Lykos tugged on Staples’ leash ever so slightly, grabbing the dog’s attention. Staples begrudgingly got up, his eyes wet and his tail dragging along the castle floor. Holding back a sigh, Lykos urged him over to the throne room exit. I don’t like any of this either.
They both stopped in front of the exit, trepidation looming above their heads. The only thing Lykos could hear was its own heart beating against its chest - maybe its own breathing, if it ignored its heartbeat. I can’t back down now. Olly and everyone else is depending on us… Tingles ran through its body as it clenched its fists, blowing out its cheeks. Lykos locked its gaze on the door handle as Staples began to tense up, teeth gnashing. They were approaching; Lykos could feel it. A lulling wave of dread washed over it.
This is it.
And in an instant, Lykos sprung through the thick, throne room doors.

it took a while but! i finally got around to drawing my interpretation of the Vellumentals :> (or the ones in canon, at least. i have one fanon one but that's it for now-) very happy w/ how they came out, especially Deluge and Candescent's refs. i have some notes on 'em underneath the cut (bit of a lore dump tho i'm sorry /lh)
the Earth Vellumental's name is Vale and she uses she/her pronouns! she's the oldest of the four and is the most level-headed among them, being seen as more of an elderly figure of sorts. she's very sweet and caring but is capable of being stern when she needs to. she's probably the only of the four who didn't completely shut herself away from the outside world too and regularly would chat with those who visit her in her temple
the Water Vellumental's name is Deluge and it uses he/it pronouns. while Deluge can put on a front of being calm and composed it's usually very brash and reckless, and typically acts first before thinking (a lot of the time on emotion). he's only really able to reign it in partly thanks to Vale and partly due to an incident that caused it to shut itself in its shrine for a good couple of years i'd say (idk if i'll write it or not but for context this was how Robin died). despite that it enjoys arts and crafts, and decorates its shrine with various gifts
the Fire Vellumental's name is Candescent and xe uses he/xe/it pronouns. and god looking on it now it's really funny considering he's Holt's godly relative and Holt uses the same pronoun set. but that aside Candescent is known for being regal and composed - like Deluge he's very much putting up a front when it comes to that and can be very excitable and rowdy as well. it's to the point where xyr (living) relatives would have a shock as what it's like is not at all like the stories they've heard. like Deluge xe also shut itself away in xyr temple and it was partially because of Holt whole uh. backstory and immediate family. another thing is that Candescent very much enjoys dance and music in general
the Ice Vellumental's name is Hiemal and they use any pronouns :> i've also drawn him before like Deluge but they actually get a bit of a redesign since it's been longer lol. Hiemal's the cold, serious one of the group and sees themself as the leader (even though no one really listens and in the ends it's kind of Vale anyways pfft-). Hiemal doesn't really take kindly to being disturbed either which is why it kind of. froze Taniel for at least a century (which is better than what they normally would've done if Taniel had solely been there to pick a fight ig?). i also feel like she'd probably do something to also keep everyone out of Diamond Island especially after Taniel. not because she'd feel particularly threatened (being blunt she doesn't think highly of mortals) but she just wants to be left alone
more general notes are that each Vellumental has relatives who are at least partially mortal. they're called both demivellumentals and demigods, but demigods tends to be the more used term in day-to-day conversations. i've only really drawn some of Candescent's relatives so i might draw the others at some point (to be a bit more precise on some of this, Holt's family specifically are related to Candescent but it does not mean all members of xyr species are demigods. most of them in current times aren't anyways thanks to the whole incident xyr family caused)
Deluge and Candescent have been dating for several centuries now and they're very happy together. i love them dearly
this isn't a lore note or anything but i find it funny that three of my los have been the cause (or at least an indirect cause) for three gods cutting themselves off from the rest of the world. surprisingly, Jean-Pierre was spared from this (Staples is related to my fanon Vellumental but he didn't cause their disappearance so i don't really count that)

this was originally just a random doodle i made during biology - i wanted to draw Holt in a suit since you know what xe would wear formal clothing regularly i think. so as a treat xe gets drawn a suit w/ shading because xe's very fun to draw

though i did plan on drawing/writing coloredtapepunch related for the 14th i wanted to draw some of the resident arospec members of my legion just hanging out on that day instead (specifically Robin and Saxen i don't count Staples when it comes to that). this was just meant to be a quick digitalization of it so it's still pretty messy but i like it

was doodling throughout both my geometry and humanities classes and came up with some alternate designs for Holt and Saxen that would be more or less their attire for each of their fights, or smth like that
i have some more notes on these designs underneath the cut-
Holt -
most of the alt. designs are just going to be ones further based on their respective stationery but. Holt's is more based on xyr status as a demigod (from the Fire Vellumental specifically). the hooked claws it has are both meant to be representative of the Fire Vellumental's talons and function as its main way of punching out faces during the yellow streamer
he has feathers sticking out of his elbows mainly bc of him being a demigod to the Fire Vellumental (it's also normal for other Fire Vellum demigods w/ those powers as they grow older and/or have stronger fire power than most). when he's really angry, excited, or just generally any strong emotion they sometimes burst into flames
the fire behind xem is meant to be a fiery wing of sorts. i was originally going to give xem two but one is just very fitting
Saxen -
the "scissors" behind her back is a ribbon, actually. she does have a pair of swords that specifically look like scissor blades but i didn't draw her with any swords
she's wearing armour because it would fit and i just think she looks nice in armour
the Olly symbol on her armour is probably like. the one thing that typically keeps her from wearing it. mainly because she isn't the most fond of Olly and that she doesn't like the fact that she's helping build a kingdom
she still wears the same gloves and boots from her more casual wear, the gloves to hide a few scars, and both are because of sensory stuff

various coloredpunchtape sketches because i've been thinking about them a lot <3 text for incorrect quote bits are underneath the cut
top convo:
Holt: Do different paints have different tastes?
Jean-Pierre: They do.
Taniel, horrified: ...why did you say that with such certainty?
middle right convo:
Holt: What about when Jean made us that romantic dinner?
Taniel: dude he microwaved us a pizza

been playing around with the idea of 'enemies to queerplatonic lovers' for Saxen and Coda (both bc Coda's technically my alt Hole Punch and they both have worked together anyways) so here they are sometime after they would start getting along
this was originally just going to be a doodle-

despite this week i finally got around to doing some more sketches - a lot of them are traditional but this is the singular digital sketch i did today. wanted to try for a more simplified style (and do more sketching of my Fire Vellumental design since i've started sketching the design for my yellow streamer poster thing too-). outside of them i only drew Holt and Staples with 'em since i didn't feel like drawing the others
