Retirement of this account

Hello everyone,

as I am currently graduating from high school and transitioning to college, I decide it’s the best choice for me to retire this account. With my declining motivation and desire to focus more on other things I’m way more passionate about such as my art and original characters, I decided to tell a little more about myself. I’m not sure about the logics of assigning another mod for this account, but ultimately with the work it would take to appoint someone, I think I would be okay with this account not being active any longer.

Asian Character of the Day has been a project I’ve been doing from junior to senior year. It may seem like 1 year is a short time, but I feel as if the impact is way deeper than the timeframe. I’ve enjoyed learning about characters I didn’t know, and I hope you learned something too.

Now to a part of me that’s vulnerable—I originally made this account to cope with my feelings of inadequacy and impostor syndrome with my Asian identity. As a 2nd generation Vietnamese-American, I feel as if I’m a third identity: neither fully Vietnamese nor American. I don’t speak a lot of Vietnamese but understand more, and I sometimes envy a life where people are more in touch with their identities as Asian Americans. In a sense, making these posts has helped me deal with it. There’s not really a way of being Asian, let alone any identity.

I’ve had mostly good interactions here on this account, and I thank you all for your contributions. It means a lot to me.

If you do find out my identity, first I’d be a little surprised but please, if you do, do not tell anyone else or spread the word around. In the future, if I decide, I might reveal it myself.

Other than that, I don’t have anything else to say. If someone else wants to make another account that continues on from Day 367, I give them full permission. However, just know that if that I am not affiliated with whoever makes the account.
