As a reward, let’s have a little giveaway with a little spin on it. The rules are as follows:

This giveaway is for my followers only, so please don’t participate without following (…also, I can’t control you, but if you were to, say, unfollow me immediately after the giveaway is over, I’m going to tut disapprovingly at you in spirit X’D;;).

You can like and/or reblog this to enter. Interacting with the post in any fashion counts as one entry. (So liking = 1 entry, reblogging = 1 entry, and both liking and reblogging = 2 entries.)

However… I have something to confess. Although I love Germany/Austria, it sometimes feels lonely being the main contributor to the ship. So, content creators who a) post fanart, writing, edits, or other works to the GerAus tag and b) mention this blog and the giveaway in the caption will have their usernames entered an additional THREE times. This means you could potentially have your name entered FIVE times instead of just one or two.

There are no minimum requirements for entries. Writing can be a three-sentence mini fic, art can be a little sketch. Whatever you feel like contributing is fine!

The contribution does NOT have to be romantic in nature. I love platonic GerAus almost as much as I love romantic GerAus. However, the involvement of other characters (i.e. Prussia, Hungary, or N. Italy), if you include them, should be secondary to their interactions.

While angst is fine, please for the love of all that is holy refrain from using the Anschluss of 1938 or World War II as a setting unless you plan to address them with exactly the amount of gravitas and sensitivity that they deserve.

This giveaway will end on November 30th, 11:59pm EST, and the winners should be announced sometime in the first week of December.

There’ll be THREE WINNERS, and each winner will be able to choose between a full-colour drawing, a limited colour sketch, or a chibi tiling background like the one featured on my blog in desktop mode.

Yo, I know Hetalia is a little dead in 2019, so

I don't expect you guys to reblog my art replies (although I would love it). But, it would mean the world to me if you kept interacting with comments and asks.

Comments keep me going and asks keep me from having to send myself anons in order to finish my story.

So if you like this blog, even a little bit, even if it's just nostalgic, please interact a little. I always wanted to finish this story and I'd still love to.

[ ANYWAY, since you can’t see it in the photo, here’s what these dorks are wearing in the drabble. i’ve always liked the idea of them being into historic stuff, like re-enactments and replicas, so they both like to dress up and hang out sometimes.  ]

“Isn’t this grand?”

Ivan looked up, sitting up on the blanket. He wasn’t so sure what François meant. “Hm?” He hummed. “What do you mean?”

“You know, just having time like this. Our own little place to have fun and get away from things.”

François smiled, swinging back. He was the one who’d suggested it in the first place, some time ago that Ivan barely remembered the why of it all. He couldn’t remember when they agreed to make it regular either, or when the costume aspect came into it, but the more he went along with it, the more he felt like it was right, like it was as much of something he’d helped cultivate. He might’ve seemed quiet but he liked it just as much, and François, who knew Ivan like no other, knew it. 

“France,” Ivan began, “What was it that little queen of yours used to call her garden?”

The Frenchman laughed. He’d always found it endearing, the way Ivan would ask questions about his history that nobody really thought to bother with. “Le Petit Trianon. It was a château, mon loup.” François said, always happy to oblige Ivan’s curiosity. He was somewhat caught off guard by what the Russian said next, which seemed to always be part of their back and forth, the dance of their dialogues. “This is our Petit Trianon then, da?” Jumping down from the swing, overestimating his ability to stick the landing, François wobbled as he made it to ground. Seeing where this was going, since this was far from the first time, Ivan stood, half-catching the Frenchman. “Careful, zvezda moya. One of these days I’ll be too slow to catch your fall.” Ivan laughed, embracing François, and his fineries, in a hug. It might’ve looked odd if anyone were watching, the two men all gussied up in bygone stylings, but to them it was paradise. It wasn't a nostalgia for better or happier times -- the two knew well the struggles and turmoils that history could offer -- but it was a nostalgia for different times, and that was what the two loved most. A chance to live in the past, even just for a day, was enough. “Oh, Russia,” François started, pausing to plant a kiss on the Russian’s cheek “Can’t we do this again sometime soon?”

“Of course. After all, tomorrow is another day!”
