Krischan was there a moment in your life where you and Gilbert got along?

Prussia, 1806

Napoleon has invaded many parts of Europe, including Prussia after a devastating defeat.

Krischan: “The only time I can remember where we managed to be civil with each other for several years was during the Napoleonic era. We both felt extremely humiliated by the quick and miserable defeat we suffered against France’s armies. And even more aggrieved by our king’s unwillingness to act against the occupation!”

Gilbert: “Indeed. We actually managed to work together and convince our king finally to fight back and go to war with France. Many others, as you know, joined the fight.”

Krischan: “But after Napoleon was defeated and things were back to normal - more or less - our cooperation was finished and we went back to hating each other’s guts.”

Gilbert: “You hate my guts, for unknown reasons. I just dislike you.”

Krischan: “Because I hate you. And those reasons are very well known, you just refuse to see them.”

Hey, Krischan! What would you do, if Gilbert broke your metal arm? Maybe make him dead for good or something :3

Gilbert: “Why are your followers just as violent as you.”

Krischan: “Because I’ve taught them well.”

Krischan: “You don’t understand anon. We’ve been like this as long as I can remember. It’s not like we have never tried to get along or talk it out. But it’s just impossible with this man!”

Gilbert: “You keep blaming me for everything!”

Krischan: “Because you are the problem!”

Gilbert: “You lack self reflection, Krischan!”

Gilbert: “I would help - I wanted to! If Krischan would let me.”

I will let it slide this time though- Seeing how in need you are of my wisdom. 

#2 is straight manipulation of promises with rewards such as sweets and toys and maybe staying up past bedtime, but only if they comply to your wishes and cease their interpretation of a seagull.

#3 is similar to the previous, but you turn it into a game of who can stay quiet the longest. It depends on how smart your child is for whether this will work or not.

And #4, a personal favourite of mine, is to borrow practices from our friends across the sea and use the feared legend known as the 'chancla'.

You could slip them some sleeping syrup, only as a last resort.
