Frowning, he leaned back a little too, his hands tightening on a piece of paper. She was against this case? He could hardly believe that Leta would believe that... People did change, he realized with a falling heart.

"Interesting indeed," he murmured back. "What makes you want to argue for your side?" He figured he would try to at least see her point of view. That was something important for the meeting itself, but he wanted to see her side because Leta was an old friend. Inwardly, he was aware that at this point, neither of them considered each other as close anymore, but he was still a little disheartened.

Despite his question, Newt looked down at the table upon which his journal about his creatures was, not wanting to look at her.

“That’s good, that’s good…” Newt noded at her comment, though taking it the wrong way.

He was completely focused on this meeting and adding regulations to prevent experimental breeding. He tended to try and stay out of politics too much. However, he felt that some of the regulations were good, as it would help provide some security, despite it seeming the minister wasn’t doing much relating to Grindelwald.

“I think it’s good that this meeting is happening, finally it’s up for debate. The other regulations, I don’t know what to think,” he added, searching her face. He still wasn’t exactly over seeing her after so long.

Leta’s eyebrows shot towards her hairline. “You want it to be up for debate?” she said, the Knut finally dropping. She glanced at his notes, not looking for the words, but realizing that he was prepared to argue the case as well - and they were not going to be arguing the same side. She almost said, Oh, Merlin, it’s not going to be as easy as I’d hoped. But she remembered herself just in time. Newt was no longer a friend. And it looked like, in this case, he was an opponent.

She settled back in her chair, her face falling into a carefully neutral expression, miles different from the almost-easy chatting she’d been doing less than a minute ago. “I see,” she said. “Well, this will certainly be interesting.”

"An acute sense of smell... Seems like they'd smell with their tongue, like a snake, or an occam-excuse me-like a snake instead!" He coughed a little.

"I wonder where he's from. The way you described him arriving to you earlier is one of the more peculiar things I've ever heard!" Newt laughed a little. "That would be saying a lot. Has he seemed different from animals on Earth, aside from his appearance? Things that seem... magical, for the lack of a better term."

He was quite curious about Aster, and gave him another pat on the head, watching their tail wagging.

“Oh, it’s no trouble,” Abby assured Newt. “I don’t mind company. Don’t have too many visitors at my new place, actually.” Ever since she’d moved there, all her old neighbors were gone. Most of the people she saw on the street were tourists or commuters, and she did pal around with her costars and the stage crew, but she didn’t have that many friends in this city otherwise.

She led her new friend down the street a little ways, stopping at a door between two storefronts- a print shop and a small art supply store. She quickly unlocked the door and opened it for Newt. Her apartment door was upstairs in a small hallway, along with a second door that presumably led to the neighboring apartment.

As they made their way upstairs, there was a muffled sound of paws running along a hardwood floor to greet them at the door. Sure enough, when Abby opened the door to her apartment, there was Aster, staring excitedly up at the two and wagging their fluffy blue tail.

To My Fellow White People,

As some of you know, I’ve been working on a Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts fan fiction over the course of the past few weeks.  This fic is the product of a collaboration between me, and several mutuals who are members of the Native American community on tumblr.  I started writing it because after JK began expanding the HP universe into the US, I (like many others) noticed she’d used a lot of lore from Native American cultures, but had included almost no NA characters.  While all this was still unfolding, one of my [white] friends irl said that: “this [JKs appropriation] is why writers should only write about white characters.  It’s just less of a hassle.”  

I didn’t respond for 30 seconds because…you guys probably know why.

So, anyway, I was partially motivated to write and post this fic as a giant “FUCK YOU” to my [former] friend.  I was also motivated by the fact that, in the wake of 400 years of NA oppression (more specifically the revival of DAPL by Lord Dampnut), there shouldn’t be any questions about whether or not we “want” stories about NA characters.  We NEED stories about NA characters; and to create them, we shouldn’t feel self-conscious about asking NA writers and artists for help.  It’s not our culture.  Most of us have never been within 10 miles of a reservation.  We never learned about NA history or culture outside of the movie Pocahontas.  We can still write good NA characters.  We just have to do our homework.  I hope this fic helps teach some of my fellow creators/writers how to do that.

Howdy Guys...

Hey, I’m Sarah Januszko and I’m raising money for my Dentist bill. I need this as soon as i can because I found out due to my depression and lack of being able to function for awhile, my teeth have rotted to where i need two crowns and a bunch of fillings, as well as a tooth being pulled. Now normally I’d never ask something like this of anyone except they made it clear that it’s a huge hazard to my health if I don’t get this done soon. My bill is upwards of 4250$ and my insurance can only cover about 250$. The rest my family has to pay out of pocket, which wouldn’t be a problem if we weren’t sitting just on the poverty line. It’d mean a lot if you helped out just even a little, I feel bad that I got my family into this extremely difficult situation and I’m trying my hardest to get out of it but my mom refuses to let me get a job during school. Thank you again for all of your time, I love all you beautiful people for helping me.
