AAAAAAAAH IT MAKES MORE SENSE NOW !!!!

“Who’s Laughing Now”

SO LET’S TALK ABOUT HOW BORIS IS A REAL JERK TO BENDY ALL THE TIME 24/7 NONSTOP. 

I know this seems like a silly tangent but bear with me here. Over the course of three shorts we’ve been shown that Boris is actually a pretty ornery wolf. Which you wouldn’t think, considering how cowardly he is as his “real life” counterpart. But in the shorts, he is repeatedly shown being quite mean and selfish towards Bendy, actually. I’ll quickly break down Boris’s appearances in the shorts and shed some light on what I noticed.

In Tombstone Picnic, Boris steals Bendy’s lunch and purposely trips him. 

Then he proceeds to scare him away afterwards. 

And in Haunted Hijinx, he scares Bendy away-

and takes his candy. 

And what does Boris do in Snow Sillies?

THAT’S RIGHT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN HE NONCHALANTLY PASSES BY BENDY AND HIS DEAD SNOWMAN FRIEND.

Honestly I think this all just speaks for itself. According to the vibe I’m getting from the shorts, Boris does not like Bendy at all. He goes out of his way to try and scare or generally just be unpleasant towards him. But what’s even more interesting is that they don’t really appear to be bitter rivals either, at least, not on Bendy’s side of things. I noticed that Bendy never really actually wants to fight Boris or be all that mean back to him. I mean, he even showed up to his house on Halloween! He must want to be peaceable towards him to some degree. And look at this quick moment from Tombstone Picnic: he rolls up his sleeves, winds up a punch, and…

taps him on the shoulder? Okay…not exactly gonna help your cause there, bud. I think this moment is a perfect example of how much restraint Bendy has, either being too scared of Boris to fight him or just flat out not wanting to because it’s in his nature. 

So what’s the point of all this, you might be wondering. Why does this really matter? Well, as we’ve seen through the shorts, Bendy gets stepped on, progressively harder and harder in my opinion. Tombstone Picnic was funny, Haunted Hijinx was charming with the slight “aw, poor bendy” feeling, and Snow Sillies was just downright sad. 

Which brings me to my final point. 

Bendy’s character seems to have a lot to do with being the punchline and being the one who always loses out in the end. The amusement happens only at Bendy’s expense. Boris constantly does mean things towards him for either his own amusement or the audience’s amusement. So it would make sense if Bendy held a grudge for this very reason. “Who’s laughing now?” Could very well be a jab at Boris and not at Henry. The message was even written in one of the Boris’s rooms, making this all the more compelling. It would be a really interesting spin to a seemingly meaningless quote.
