The tone of this character, his voice, his... General animation irked Kaiba in a way he hadn't experienced in quite some time. He couldn't quite place it, but this cat reminded him of someone.

Anyway.

Self entitled? He scoffed, yet in a way he found this humorous.

"Perceptive. Now, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that one, I'd be far more rich than I already am." Just to drive the point home, he supposed. If that's how he'd be treated for having reasonable concerns, then so be it. Kaiba had no problem being exactly the kind of prick everyone expected him to be.

Was it really too much to question this? When the sarcasm wore off, he began to ponder his own sanity.

"Ah, what was I thinking? I must be dreaming anyway. There's no other explanation. Why don't you, I don't know, scamper off and find some other magical animal to talk to? Or whatever you dream creatures do - I need to wake up. Cats don't talk, and I refuse to allow myself to become part of whatever this is."

He is truly famous for his ability to be in denial in the face of things that don't make sense, and this being the case, he turns his attention elsewhere in an attempt to determine if this is reality or not. He muttered something about this being ridiculous, and how he could've fallen asleep when he had no memory of it.

Mokuba, being ever-so-observant, had noticed the slightest hint of hesitation when Serenity realized who she was talking to. It made him feel a tad guilty; depending on who he was with, he didn't necessarily intend to intimidate anyone, although he was aware he had that effect on others. Although, in the split second he pondered this idea, he also figured she hadn't seen Seto quite yet - "I wonder if I should say something."

"In the flesh," he smiled back - well, more like a smirk at first - and put his hands in his pockets.

"I'm not gonna lie, I almost didn't recognize you either. You look good in that costume! How are you liking it so far? Uh, the job, I mean. Not the costume... Or, well, is it comfortable?"

Awkward. Seto snickered in the background and rolled his eyes, settling to simply watch for the time being. He wasn't interested in getting involved just yet, or at all, if he could help it. No time for idle chatter in his world, but it would be acceptable for now.

Nearing its fifth year anniversary, Kaiba Land's first ever location was hustling and bustling even more than it had upon its grand opening. More lights, more attractions, more events, more employees. Indeed, there had been a sudden wave of employment at the theme park in preparation for this year's celebration. Too many faces to keep track of, and keen on ensuring the park's standards were being met by all new employees, the Kaiba brothers deigned to go undercover themselves for a true look at the faces that made up their glorious dream of a theme park.

"Quality control mission, activate. Heheh." Mokuba tied his hair back dramatically, throwing a hoodie over his head in one swift motion. Seto noted silently how tall he was getting and how odd it looked to see him dressed casually, like he used to. Seto, instead, stuck to an outfit that would be described as men's business-casual athletic wear in the storefront of a mall... And a ball cap. No one would expect the Seto Kaiba to wear a ball cap, because he hates them and he would never except to fulfill this request by Mokuba to pretend they were just guests for the night.

Mokuba wondered if that hat was I really enough, as the two of them entered the premises, but in the end it didn't really matter. Seto had no qualms against going in as himself to begin with, and the getup was mostly for the younger brother's benefit. Precious few times had they stepped out of their roles to just enjoy life, after all...

"Don't forget, we're still working. Technically." Seto remarked with a smirk, his way of joking that admittedly sounded more like a taunt.

"Dude. I know technically, could we not? I'm on the lookout, I promise. I'm looking for smiling faces, warm greetings, helpful staff- OH!"

Mokuba stopped suddenly, squinting his eyes.

"No way that's who I think it is, isn't that Jonouchi's sister..? I wasn't aware we hired her. Cool! We should go say hello. You know... As guests." The younger brother snickered, and regardless of how Seto would react, walked over to the stand Shizuka was manning on her own, flagging her down quietly as he got closer.

"PSSSSST! Hey!" Mokuba called out, pulling his hood down slightly.

"Remember me?"

II Minor Details About The Muse– Ask Meme

How does your muse answer their phone? Do they get nervous or panic if they hear it ring? Do they answer it immediately or let it ring out? How do they greet the person on the other end?

How do they wake up in the morning? Do they jump out of bed immediately after they hear their alarm go off? Do they turn their alarm off and stay in bed a little longer? How long does it take for them to actually feel awake?

If they’re walking and they pass by a stranger who makes eye contact how do they react? Do they nod their head? Smile? Do they quickly avert their gaze?

What’s their posture like when they walk? Are they a slow, fast, or moderate walker?

If they hear a song they like what do they do? Do they tap their foot? Quietly dance? Nod their head? Etc.

Are they the type of person to hum to themselves when they are alone?

How do they react if somebody puts a plate of their favourite food in front of them? Do they gobble it up immediately? Savor it? Do that little wiggle/dance some people do when they are served their favourite food?

Are they the type to vocally go ‘Mmm’ when they eat?

If their phone/computer announces that they need to update their software, does your muse get right on it or do they procrastinate the update for as long as possible?

When they go out for a walk, are they the type of person to look up at the sky to check the clouds or the stars?

Is your muse a ‘Hey! Look at the moon!’ type of person?

Do they know how to whistle? If so, what type of whistle do they make? A loud one? A soft and airy one? Do they inhale or exhale to whistle?

If it’s a hot day, how do they keep themselves cool?

If it’s a cold day, how do they keep themselves warm?

If a group of strangers happens to pass their way and your muse hears them laughing amongst themselves, if your muse the type of person to instantly think those strangers are laughing at them or does your muse ignore it and rationalize with themself that those strangers are probably not laughing at you but something else?

Are they a fast or slow talker? Do they tend to stutter? Are their words clear and crisp when they speak?

When they tell a story, do they tell a story in a straightforward sort of way or does the story end up getting derailed with other, minute details?

Which of their five senses are the strongest? For example, are they usually the first person to smell something rotten? Are they the first person to see something across the street? Etc.

Do they panic when the cashier moves onto the next person behind them in the queue and your muse is still busy putting their change away?

What sort of unnecessary noises do they make?

What little superstitions do they carry out?

How do they hug?

What is their body language like when they talk to somebody? Are they the type of person to stand close to the other? Do they keep eye contact? Are they the type to touch the other on the shoulder or arm?

How do they react when they see something cute, like a cute animal or something?

Are they comfortable cursing? Do they do it under their breath or outloud?

Do they often fuss with their hair? Clothes? Makeup?

How long can they hold their breath?

Do they listen to music when they’re in a car or when they take the bus/train/etc? If so, are they the type of person to imagine themselves in some sort of music video or trailer as they listen to their music? Do they choose songs that match their mood that day?

Can your muse sleep if they know their room is untidy?

How do they talk to small kids? Is their tone demeaning? Do they go down to their level? Do they feel at ease?

Do they bite their ice cream or lick? Do they eat the ice cream from the top or bite the underside of the cone?

Are they good at telling jokes? Do they end up laughing before the punchline?

Is it easy for them to get engrossed in a book? Do they end up getting distracted by other things?

What do they do with freshly laundered clothes? Are they the type of person to press their face against them? Do they immediately fold them and keep them in a drawer? Do they leave them in a pile or in a basket and fold them little by little? Do they stuff them messily into a drawer or closet?

Tiger’s Eye: Are they self-confident or wracked with doubt?

If you want my most honest canonical answer, we can look to the series for clues as to where SETO falls on the spectrum of self-confidence and anxiety, but if we're sticking with my interpretation, I have some loose ideas.

Firstly, let me preface by affirming this blog is primarily an independent read of the Kaiba brothers post-DSOD into adulthood. It's been a while since I've reiterated that, but I digress. Moving forward.

SETO KAIBA is, as a whole, the book's definition of "self-confident" throughout his lifetime. He has the credentials, he has the strength, the mental fortitude - yet certainly, as we all have, he has faced personal challenges and self-doubt. Both canonically and in my eyes, Seto Kaiba is human, is he not? His conviction has faltered in the face of losing Mokuba, losing himself, losing his sense of pride - but these days, as he reaches past the cusp of adulthood at age 25, he is able to find the sort of peace he always needed to stay settled in a... Somewhat less cocky self-assured mindset. I can only imagine him reverting into anxiety-ridden doubt if something were to happen to Mokuba, truly. The company he can fix. His friendships he can do without (sortakindamaybe). But a reality where Mokuba isn't in the picture in some way, shape, or form? He can't bear the thought.

MOKUBA KAIBA, on the other hand, is a mixed bag. As is the case with Seto, Mokuba has had a range of different experiences that make him who he is today. I tend to think of Mokuba as having had something of a roller coaster of feelings towards and about himself, from having been a scared young boy in the beginning stages of his life to becoming quite the assertive young man in his pre-teen and teenage years. This (for the most part) was a front for some old leftover insecurity, and as Seto begins to take time to heal from his wounds, so Mokuba follows. With that comes the realization that he has still been... Afraid. For a long time. Currently, around age 15-16, Mokuba is experiencing something of a sad little epiphany as he explores his trauma and allows it to process in its own time. This has led to many short periods of self-doubt, but with the help of hid brother and his friends, he's making it out alright.

For Kaiba - 🥰 "What would make you feel happy and loved?" 👀

Kaiba sees this request much like a lovesick Valentine. It both irritates and amuses him, and he reacts accordingly.

"Information precious few are privy to, but I will tell you this: I like my space. Keep your distance. Go on, two steps back. There. Much better."

It's allowing him to be independent and ensuring you are careful around his ego, but not beholden to it. Confidence is key, but Seto deeply appreciates humanity in others as he comes to realize that love towards others is not a weakness, but an inherent strength all possess. There are many avenues to making Kaiba happy: be kind to Mokuba, remember what the two of them like and dislike, have conversations but do not question his judgement, do menial tasks to make his day easier, keep him in the loop - loner as he might be, Seto won't want to be left out of your part of life. Include him in things but don't push if he isn't interested. He likes a challenge as well, so feel welcome, but again - don't push it. That leaves the territory of interested and engaged and becomes antagonistic.

As for what would make him feel loved... That entirely depends on the person, really. It depends on the relationship they build. The bond they share. Deep down I see Seto as someone who craves physical contact, though - not necessarily sexual in nature, but perhaps softer. Sharing space closely together, touching/holding hands, feeling vulnerable enough to lean on another and have them caress him, play with his hair, massage the scalp. Something relaxing. To be relaxed, to have his guard down... That's something quite like love.
