Did he told you why or are you allow to tell us why???

it's because he thought it was too delicate of a moment to make them kiss immediately and yeah I agree

I never made them kiss in any of my drafts, but there was one version where I drew them smiling to each other and acting a bit more romantic on the final close up shot. He asked me to change that into a more emotional, crying facey scene (which is the version you guys saw) and to stay away from anything that'd hint into a more spicy undertone.
