The girl and the ghost sit in the corner, the girl and the ghost seem to have a lot to say, the girl and the ghost haven’t seen each other in three years, the girl and the ghost, a few simple seconds slipped away. The ghost and the girl commonly connected by something bigger, a phenomenon that sets of the eternal trigger, that lets a light through that usually goes around and around and around…

forbidden love → zyle au
The car journey felt never-ending, golden hues staring out the window as the different scenery went by. She hadn't spoke for most of the drive, staying quiet and letting her thoughts run her mind. Ever since witnessing her mothers death she had kept to herself, isolating herself from everything and everyone. She hadn't shed a single tear, but that was bound to change soon, she couldn't stay strong for long. She was in shock, and soon it would finally hit her and she'd break like the fragile little girl she was, it was only a matter of time.
Finding your mother bleeding to death on the kitchen floor does that to you. Seeing somebody you thought cared about you-- somebody that's meant to be there for you and never let you down, doing exactly that. She was angry at her for leaving. She'd learnt the hard way that you couldn't trust anybody in life, not really -- they'll always let you down in the end. It makes you feel naive, vulnerable. But then there was Kyle, her brother, the one person in the world she knew would never let her down, at least that's what she hoped.
Slowly, she turned her gaze to look at the man next to her, tired eyes taking in her brothers appearance. "How long now?" she asked, her tone nonchalant.
She knew more than anything that Kyle was probably more angry than her about moving to their fathers. After all, the guy hadn't bothered to get to know them for all these years, and then suddenly their mother commits suicide and he wants to be apart of their life? Bullshit. He was only interested in finding out if their mother had left any money behind for them. He didn't care about them, he never had. She was willing to give him a chance, though. But the main question was, was her brother willing to do the same?

Before she could hit the ground, she felt a strong pair of arms reach out to grab her, saving her from hitting the concrete floor. Golden orbs met a pair of tired blue eyes, her fearful state must of been obvious as she noticed concern in his expression.
"There's somebody--" her voice cut off as she went to look behind her, only to find out nobody was there. She gulped, arms wrapping around herself as she shivered, suddenly destabilized. She felt as if she was about to pass out, mainly because of lack of sleep. She was emotional, fragile -- breakable. Weak. What had happened these past weeks was too much for her to handle. And now she was about to cry in front of a stranger?
Pull your shit together. You're loosing it.
"Do you know where the nearest inn or motel is? I'm not really from around here." It then occurred to her she didn't even have any money. She was most likely going to end up sleeping in a crack-house, by the looks of things. But it was better than living on the streets, wasn't it?
nobody said it was easy → jesse & zoe
Jesse had been aimlessly walking the darkened streets of the ABQ that night, head down and hands in his pockets, letting his thoughts run wild with the silence that surrounded him.
He became somewhat oblivious to his surroundings as continued to stroll forward, his mind filled with the things he had done and witnessed. He was almost at the moment of breaking when the feeling of a body suddenly colliding into him broke through his momentary daze, eyes widening in surprise as they fell upon the young looking female who had ran into him.
Arms automatically reached out to grab her before she fell to the pavement below, tired eyes immediately noticed the fearful expression in the girls face and he couldn’t help but wondered what kind of trouble she was in. “Hey are you alright?” he asked in concern, his hands slowly releasing her arms once she appeared to be steady on her feet.

The look on the timid girl's face was one of pure fear, she had always been afraid of heights, but it was something she was determined to get over, especially if it meant surviving in this hell they lived in. The cold air enveloped her body, making her shiver.
Golden hues took in her surroundings, the dark sky and buildings that were slowly collapsing each day. Soon, there'd be nothing left. But this was the world they lived in now. She couldn't remember what it had once looked like, the memories of the world she once lived in were now just a dream, a life she once knew. She had lost so much, her family-- boyfriend, and why was it that she was still here? Maybe she had Annah to thank for that. But after a while you get used to it, you adapt, because all that's left is to survive, right? Her feet began moving, her gaze returning to her friend as she heard her speak.
"There's nothing you could have done.. We can't control what happens, you know?" Her words were soothing as she stepped towards her, she could sense that she was most likely feeling guilty. She knew the feeling all too well, feeling helpless, knowing there's nothing you could have done, and yet you still beat yourself up about it anyway. After a minuet of silence, her arms wrapped around herself to fight of the cold. "Can I ask you something?"

+ask-zoebenson
"This way, Zoe," Annah pointed to the bridge connecting her apartment to the next. "Be careful not to put too much weight on them or they’ll break."
As it happened, Annah had spent more time on the rooftops over the years than her friend and was now showing her how everything worked up here. It was safer up top, but it was also very frightening. The Dark City’s buildings were slowly collapsing every day, shrinking; wearing down until they became nothing but shambles. A lot of them were glass, which made it even more difficult to keep the plague rats out. If a hoard passed through the city, they’d press against the buildings until they could overwhelm the structure and collapse it or break through a window. Ever since Annah left her sister behind in the Forest, she and Zoe had been on their own. Elias had left for the Recruiters and her sister Abigail was never to be seen again. Though she did hold out hope that they’d find one another one day, Annah doubted they would. The Forest was far from the Dark City.
"A few weeks ago when I’d gone to get some more supplies," Annah started, unsure of why she was revealing this information. "I met a woman up here. Just there-" she pointed her finger at the drawing on the chimney, "She was bitten and put all this stuff on her face to try and make herself pretty again before she went. I couldn’t do anything for her and it felt awful. I didn’t even know her name."

nobody said it was easy → jesse & zoe
All she knew was that she had ran, as fast as her tiny feet could take her, and that she was no longer in New Orleans. She had taken a train elsewhere. And if there was anybody else that had survived, they would of left too if they knew what was good for them.
She could remember everything so clearly, like a nightmare she had yet to wake up from. The ashes, the house erupting into flames-- the people she had became fond of being dragged away like some kind of monster.
{ My mother was right, this world isn't safe for a girl like me. }
The street was dark, her legs were tired. She didn't know how long she had been traveling for, only that she'd be safe here tonight -- in Albuquerque -- that's if she'd be able to find somewhere to stay. Sleeping on the streets wasn't a possibility, not in a town like this, with a girl like her.
She still had her uniform on, her hat still placed upon her head. No wonder she was getting weird looks from people. Her golden orbs looked side ways, the man across the street had been watching her for some time now, and was beginning to follow along.
You're being paranoid, Zoe.
And maybe she was. It was as if the words 'burn the witch' were carved onto her forehead.
She was sprinting down the road now, the footsteps from the man that was now behind her getting closer, her breathing was ragged, and for a moment she felt so tired, that giving up seemed like a good option.
And then her body fell into something hard, the tiny girl falling back slightly from the impact.

{ ☡ } ——;; But Zoe wasn't stupid, and she knows the movie star is anything but fine. She wont press on, though. At the mention of Kyle her eyes became filled with sadness, looking elsewhere.
She didn't want to think about that.

"I still think you should tell somebody, about what happened." her voice is soft. She isn't angry at Madison, how could she be?
+ 2
Was she serious?
{ Raw. Exposed. Vulnerable }
Though the starlet wouldn’t let on.
The show must go on, right?

"Fine,"she’d huff in her soprano, before sporting an eye roll.
She’s lying to you. Can’t you see she’s broken.
The starlet’s pride won’t be ravished unlike with her b o d y.
“Sorry I killed your boy candy.”
He didn’t deserve to die.
