2/13/2021 hi guys! long time no see. and happy lunar new year to some!

it's been a while since i posted on this blog and i know people are anticipating a return or another post so i thought i'd finally address some things.

i was a highschooler when i created this AU in 2016-2017 fueled by my love for BTS and sought community on tumblr. at first it was an ask seokjin blog set in a universe where he kindergarten assistant taking care of baby bangtan. i made many friends and eventually while running that blog i thought of an AU to put BTS in the 1920s setting with its own original storyline and comics to boot. it became my little baby for the next year and with the more attention and interest it garnered, the more work i put into it to create something that could be enjoyed by ARMY. it was a blast and i don't regret the experience when it came to interacting with you guys and developing skills that'd help me with my current career path.

but there are a lot of things that now, as a 20 year old, i should address looking back. rps is a given in kpop spaces, but i've since become uncomfortable with RPS, and while i had put the disclaimer that the version of BTS i was using was formulated on the fictional versions of themselves in their music videos and assumptions based on their on-screen personas, i don't feel it's my place to "assign" relationships and headcanons onto real people and am very uncomfortable with it. ofc i can’t stop whatever people choose to do. i do acknowledge that most people understand the separation between fiction and reality when it comes to these things.

but one thing i do cringe at with this au and apologize for is putting the boys in sexually-charged situations. i never made anything sexually explicit, but that doesn’t excuse my actions. i also put jin in a very sexual qipao that, at the time, was a reference to the Bangtan Bombs where jin is running on a treadmill in a qipao, but i wasn't fully aware of the implications at the time. i believe it was cultural appropropriation on my part for treating the qipao as a costume and that the way I'd been drawing it was riding along the lines of the more exoticized and hypersexualized version that perverts itself from original traditional costume that should be respected. so that i apologize for.

so long story short, i won't be continuing this AU as it stands. thank you guys for sticking around and with that, goodbye!
