everyone, wish Capital a happy birthday!!

or, uh, anniversary of story?

on this day, 10 years ago, I started working on Capital's story! as many know (if it's not mega obvious already, hehe) Capital is my favorite oc. they mean a lot to me, they've let me flex my creative muscles in a number of ways, and I'm really proud of their story too.

today was meant to be a fun event, accompanied by an animated illustration, but uh. that didn't happen </3 family from overseas came to visit and I just didn't have the time.

but! I'll try to have the event up and running this week, and hopefully have the finished illustration to show too.

thank you all so much, for being here and enjoying this purple bastard's story <3 kinda sad I didn't get to celebrate proper on their day, but it's ok! I will have this done before the end of Capital's month >:)

Capital's mind had began to wander. This Absol had been oddly persistent thus far. Other beings would have taken insult, but their words did not cut them the same. Why was that? Would there be anyone who could insult them in any way that mattered?

Would there be someone whose words they cared about?

It hit them then and there.

They turned towards them, clasping a hand on their shoulder, and speaking almost gleefully, as though this mundane realization had been a great epiphany.

I appreciate the conversation. This has been most insightful.

Destino:When I come at you with an insult, regardless of effort or lack of effort, I expect a response back. Like, I’m clearly the most important Pokémon ever and it’s important that you respond with something actually worth my time. Hello hello out there! I have finally found time to get around to the Fanart Friday nominees! I’ll be posting them in groups of three as I finish them! (There are 12 in total ;] ) They’re going to be out of order so apologies for that o/ First up we’ve got:

Capital said nothing, and looked no-one in the eye. Their fingers fidgeted, grasping at the grass below their hands. What was there to say? What would they want to say? Did they want to say anything?

Slowly, they got up from the ground, and still, they looked away.

They opened and closed their mouth a few time, as though they wanted to say more; yet, they remained silent. A pained expression painted their face. They stared at the ground, at the flowers around them.

Capital looked at Series inquisitively, a smile on their face. They asked, "all Arceus are meant to have Plates, no? At least most that I know, do. What use do you give them? I wonder if they are simply a tool to you, or something more." They paused briefly, smile unwavering, before asking another question: "Oh, I do hope it is not rude of me to ask, but ah, since you do seem to dislike dragons... what about the Draco Plate? Do you regard that power of yours differently than the rest...?"

They are to follow specific guidelines that I have given them, in order to carry out my judgement. It is much easier to have them use their perspectives to make localized decisions.

The plates contain primordial, cosmic power within them. Those who have such a plate channel the unfiltered power of their element, and so they are only in the possession of legendaries and mythicals that I deem worthy and responsible of carrying that power.

I burden myself with that wretched Draco Plate, I would rather carry it than let it reach the claws of one of those beasts.

BAM. Your blog is now in a highschool AU. Tell me about your cast. Are they popular? Play any sports? Favorite class? Are they known for anything? Whatever you can think of about them, I wanna know.

this is a fun one. SO

Capital would be a professor. a Physics professor in specific. a brilliant mind, very charismatic, but with a somewhat intimidating aura, and also the type of professor that'd make all the answers in a multiple choice test answer C, just to make students panic. :)

(if they weren't a professor, they'd be the effortless genuis that goofs off every class but somehow still gets As lmao)

Lyra would LOVE Capital's classes. she loves physics, and chemistry, and all things complicated. she's a pretty high-grading student, even if her daydreaming tendencies harm her in-class scores.

Charlotte's favorite classes are History, Geography and Art. she fucking hates Physics, not because she's that bad at it, but because she fucking hates Capital's guts. she finds them insufferable and their little gimmicks with test scores get on her nerves. she still does relatively well in their class, but she still haaaaateeeeees iiitttt

we don't talk about the Furfrou, so that leaves us with

Vela! they'd be new to the school, very shy and socialy anxious. you'd think they'd get bullied, but their class is chill, and if anything they were adopted by a group of extrovers who love them for who they are. they do well in their language classes, and love creative writing. they hate having to share what they do with the class though...

and for the askpharos cast:

Pharos would be the theater teacher

Cashmere would be the PE teacher

Bell Pepper would love the music class

Majesty would 100% want to be the main character in every stage play the school makes

found family

the archetype of the bastard. especially if smug. especially if charismatic.

unreality?? can you call that a trope?? when you don't know if something is really real or, say, a dream... stuff like that

fallen heroes

also idk if it's a trope but like... taking a well-established concept and turning it on its head. like light being a corrupting force, and benevolent demons

chosen ones. sometimes, as a treat

maybe even characters doomed to become chosen ones. like they refuse the call to adventure, until adventure catches up to them

just the concept of a well-done romantic subplot. especially if it's not the end goal of a story, so you can live some of the romantic dynamics within the story

MULTIVERSE. the idea of parallel worlds, and universes unlike our own. that's cool as hell

redemption arcs

also the idea of an "evil" character who doesn't really realize they're evil, but they turn around, see the error of their ways, and try to become better

deals with the devil

as for the second part of the question... well.

When did your interest in the pokeask community begin? Any blogs that sparked your interest?

so uh, I started off as a daily Shiny Amphraos blog, right. my thing was daily mons cause that's what I'd get on my dash a lot, and I was like fuck it! why not! I wanna experiment and I love Shiny Ampharos, they're easy to draw, MIGHT AS WELL

so that's how it started... and then I saw that you could tell stories AS WELL AS drawing a Pokemon all the time. some blogs weren't even daily AND they had stories!! wowzers!! I loved that idea, so I started giving Pharos a story... and then I took a break, apparently right before a lot of drama started popping up? LOL I avoided so much of it thankfully

I met a lot of people when I first started, and they were all mostly daily blogs too, with some exceptions. a lot of them welcomed me back when I picked askpharos back up. it was nice to see so many familiar faces :3

I remember a lot of blogs, but I can't say which one inspired me to tell a story. as in, I can't think there was one in specific? shoutout to Fance/leilani-and-kass for being one that sticks out in my mind so vividly tho.

I remember which was the first daily blog I've seen that inspired me to start my daily blog though, but uh. turns out the mun wasn't great. :( that's all I'm gonna say on that, they're not active anymore so it is what it is

to keep it brief, Capital would be a Magic Crafters fully-fledged dragon. same as always, just now dragon-ified and very much ready to cause mischief and chaos.

Vela would be, ofc, a small dragon! either from Magic Crafters or Dream Weavers (more likely the latter). shy and uncertain, they're trying their best to go back home but the dangers of the outside world can leave them stuck in places for a while...

if you're wondering about the rest, Charlotte would be from Artisans, probably all of askpharos would be from there too including Majesty
