*Misa blinked in shock when Mello placed the knife in her hands, and it clicked in her head just what kind of people they were dealing with here. She knew she should've left and called Light the second she got the chance...but she was giddy. This was more fun than she'd had in forever!*

*She nodded, smiling softly at Mello as she lifted the edge of her skirt a bit, sliding the knife into a knife sheath on her thigh, attached to her pantyhose. She gave a small O.K sign before letting her skirt fall back into place.*

"I would've brought my own if you said we'd be someplace like this!" *Misa said with a small giggle, she continued walking in step with Mello, glancing around with much less anxiety now feeling the familiar weight against her leg.*

*She was used to carrying some sort of weapon, pepper spray, something. After what happened to give her all the extra years of her life she'd be extra cautious. She was always a bit afraid to be in a room alone with men she didn't know but if it was just for a couple minutes, she'd manage.*

*It's not like she was totally useless on her own either. Months of self defense lessons and learning how to use a gun and knives against men thrice her size made her a more scary opponent then anyone would guess from just looking at her.*

"So, what exactly is gonna be happening at dinner?"

*A motorcycle trip over and Misa fussing over her hair getting messed up. Now at the event, Misa grabs Mello's arm, leaning on him while they walk up.*

*The security guard glances them over, stopping them as soon as he sees Misa clinging to Mello. He clears his throat, looking at Mello while Misa stands there a bit comfused.*

"Sir? Who's this?" *The security guard asks with obvious annoyance, looking at Misa with disgust. Misa stirs, caught between feeling offended and knowing she'd better let Mello deal with it.*

*Her eyes glance up, making sure she remembers the man's name for...later on. She wouldn't take that disrespect laying down!!*

It was inevitable for her hair to be messed up after being under a helmet, but her annoyance was understood, Mello would get pissy whenever he had even a hair out of place.

He wasn’t surprised when Misa made the decision to hold onto his arm, although he wasn’t interested in relationships until Kira was caught, he had been around many women; when the security guard questioned them, Mello could clearly sense Misa’s frustration.

Naturally she would have taken the man’s suspicion-filled town as insulting, but that was business; the blonde hadn’t notified anyone that he would have brought a partner along, even if it was a requirement. Mello preferred to be alone or with Ross in these kinds of situations, having a partner or another member tag along would have only tested his patience, which was already thin to begin with, he wouldn’t have accepted any group projects if not with Matt.

The gamer wasn’t there though, hadn’t said that he would be there, so he found himself having to reach out to people outside his circle; he couldn’t have forced the redhead to go with him, he had done so much for him, Matt had been there when Mello was at his lowest, he wouldn’t have stayed mad with him for something that petty while Matt had been nothing but sweet to him.

Mello wasn’t exactly thrilled about it though, and he could hear the later gossip of him finally opening up to the natural course of events; the blonde wasn’t the best person, but he refused to be reduced to labels whilst risking his life everyday in the shadows of a crime infested city known for its glamorized lifestyle.

He was so much more than a pretty face in a world of old men disfigured by their sinful greed; he had demonstrated that time and time again, by bringing the heads of feared crime giants to the table, crumbling entire mafia empires thanks to his manipulative genius, always going for the ring leader.

Mello could deal with that later, at present, he was a young man going to private event with an influential friend; nothing more, nothing less, a simple narrative to tell.

“She’s with me.”

He needn’t say anymore, that was enough to make the guard nod affirmatively and relax his previously tense stance; as they progressed inside, Mello turned to Misa and quietly mimicked the stuck-up guard with a snicker

*Misa giggled at Mello's mocking of the guard, before glancing around at the exterior, eying all the details and intricacies of the party, red lips slightly parted.*

"You know, I didn't take you as one for parties or events like these, Mello..." *Misa spoke, having to consciously remind herself that she couldn't speak the name that was on top of his head since it would out her as the second Kira.*

*Mello didn't seem like the type for these things, it seemed more like something Misa had to go to often to keep appearances up. But darker. She could just tell something was off with how people leered at her only to look away when they noticed Mello, and silently was appreciative that she brought her death note with her. Just in case.*

"It seems a bit too...up tight, for you, I think." *Misa spoke with a small apologetic smile, adjusting her hair a bit before looking over at Mello.*
