Grande Prairie Marketing Expert - Shawn Shmyr
It's said, “The average person will come in contact with over 5,000 ads or brands per day”. What? That seems like a lot until you consider this…I woke up to my iPhone today, brushed my teeth with Crest, put on some Degree deodorant, turned on my Sonos, used my Auto Start, put on a Hugo Boss suit, sat down to my Mac computer, brewed some Starbucks, enjoyed some Farm Fresh eggs and on, and on and on… Before I left my home I would have encountered over a hundred brands. So, the question is. How will your brand stand out? First, your brand is not your logo or sign hanging on your building. Your brand is every single emotion, positive and negative thing said about it. Your brand is how you make people feel! Its purpose is to create an identity yes. However, what it's really used for is to instill an emotion that leads you to act. Let's look at it this way. Love it or hate it you have an opinion of most brands. Starbucks vs Tim Hortons. Mac vs PC. Oilers vs the Flames. Each one of these words instills and emotion that is positive, negative or indifferent. The purpose of this article will identify 5 levels of brand recognition which will be a “breath of fresh air”.
Brand Rejection: Negative experiences can quickly get out of hand due to social media. So, what do you do if your brand is under attack? First, remember nothing online is ever private. Everything can have a screenshot taken of it and shared. If someone wants to “wage war on social media”. Do not engage them! Delete it and move on. It is a no win situation to get into anything on social media. If you really want to address it and MUST. Ask for their phone number and call them personally and resolve it with a real human interaction.
Lack of Brand Recognition: People simply do not know who you are. Your marketing campaigns are a unique blend of many things and you must identify exactly who you are first. This is where you must know your bulletproof reason people should buy from you. Remember, service, selection and quality are not reasons. If you lean on this you will sound just like your competitors. You must have your exact company advantages known as a major part of your culture and be able to communicate with them.
Recognition: Congratulations! People know who you are and do not care. In order for buyers to move to the next level in the buying process, they must begin to emotionally connect with your brand in a positive manner. You know lots of brands right now that are well branded. However, you don't care that they may be on sale or available. Let's put it to the test! Next time you are in the grocery store. Take note of how many brands you don't pay attention to on the shelves while you look for the one you want. We have to create an emotional connection or your brand will have not value to potential buyers.
Brand Preference: This is when you have made a successful connection and given multiple choices a buyer will choose your brand. Your brand for very specific reasons is the one that meets the needs of a buyer and you are on your way to winning brand wars.
Brand Loyalty: This is where buyers become advocates for your products or services. They will choose you over the competitors time and time again because it is now part of the lifestyle. Everyone wants to be in this position however, it will take resilience, lots of added value and being highly differential.
One of the most effective ways to elevate your brand status is by using radio and digital together. Radio is reported to help brands raise their google searches by 29% in search activity with some impressive numbers.
Online brand searches with radio lifted search results in the following way across multiple industries!
• 33% Lift in Morning searches
• 32% Lift in Midday searches
• 29% lift in Drive searches
• 13% lift in Evening searches
Radio and digital together are also reported to influence buyers to be 91% more likely to buy a car, 144% more likely to take a vacation and 23% more likely to consider a mobile device. That is a serious elevation ineffectiveness using the radio.
When you think about building your brand, think about how you want people to feel and what that experience will be. That will be the connection point to your success and opportunity to breath more life into your brand and sales.
I'd love to help you reach your
marketing goals and your calls are welcome at 780-505-2616 or emails to [email protected]

Grande Prairie Auto Parts Expert - Scott Searson
Properly maintaining your bulbs, headlights, and fuses is vital to the safe operation of your vehicle, as well as the safety of you, your passengers and other drivers on the road. Generally, most lighting problems are the result of burnt-out bulbs or fuses.
The instructions below will help you replace your burnt-out bulbs, headlights, and fuses quickly and correctly. Although such replacements usually aren't difficult, be sure to READ these instructions completely before you begin.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT YOU WILL NEED:
A fuse puller
A Phillips screwdriver
A slot-head screwdriver
A pair of pliers
A small wire brush
A rag or gloves
A flashlight
INSTALLATION
• Always keep an assortment of spare fuses in a variety of amperages in your vehicle.
Get the correct parts. Consult your vehicle's owner manual or your local NAPA store for the right parts for your vehicle.
• Clean dirty or corroded sockets with a rag or wire brush before installing a new headlight or bulb.
• Always replace burnt-out fuses with ones of the same amperage. If a fuse continues to “blow,” you should have the circuit checked professionally for defects.
Replacing Miniature Bulbs
Your vehicle uses many miniature bulbs. They're used to light everything from the instrument panel and glove compartment to the turn signals and brake lights. When these bulbs burn out, you can usually see the broken filament inside the glass. Miniature bulbs come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. CAUTION: Always be sure the switch in the circuit is OFF before replacing any bulb.
Three of the most common bulb styles are shown:
Single contact bayonet
Double contact bayonet
Wedge base
• To remove a single or double contact bayonet bulb from its socket, push in slightly and turn counterclockwise. For safety, use a rag or a glove to protect your hand in case the bulb breaks. If the bulb does break, use a pair of small pliers to remove the base from the socket.
• To remove a wedge base bulb from its socket, no turning is necessary. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. For safety, use a rag or glove to protect your hand in case the bulb breaks.
• To insert a single contact bayonet bulb, place the base of the bulb in the socket. Make sure the index lug on the base is lined up with the slot in the socket. Then push in slightly and turn clockwise. For safety, use a rag or glove to protect your hand in case the bulb breaks.
• To insert a double contact bayonet bulb, place the base of the bulb in the socket. Make sure both index lugs on the base are lined up with the slots in the socket. If the lugs are staggered, make sure the short lug is lined up with the short slot and the long lug is lined up with the long slot. Then push in slightly and turn clockwise. For safety, use a rag of the glove to protect your hand in case the bulb breaks.
• To insert a wedge base bulb, gently push the base straight into the socket. For safety, use a rag or a glove to protect your hand in case the bulb breaks.
Replacing Headlights
• There are two types of headlight systems: sealed beam systems and replacement bulb systems (see Figure 2). In the sealed beam systems, the headlamp bulb is permanently enclosed in a round or rectangular headlamp body (A). When the bulb burns out, the entire unit must be replaced. In replacement bulb system, sometimes called composite headlamp assemblies, a replaceable halogen bulb is used (B). When it burns out, it can be removed from the back of the headlamp body and replaced.
• Note: Always have the headlight switch OFF when replacing a headlamp body or halogen headlight bulb and WEAR EYE PROTECTION!
• To replace a sealed beam headlight, begin by removing any screws, housing, trim, retaining rings or molding from around the headlamp body. Remove the wiring plug from the back of the bulb. DO NOT disturb the adjusting screws used to aim the lamp (see Figure 3). Reverse the steps to install the new bulb, making sure the bulb is firmly and properly seated.
• To change a replaceable halogen bulb, open the hood and locate the bulb in the back of the headlamp (see Figure 4). Gently remove the electrical connector from the back of the bulb. If a retainer ring is present, remove it. Without twisting the bulb, carefully pull it straight out of the socket. Handle the bulb by its plastic base only. DO NOT touch the glass part of the lamp. The bulb contains halogen gas under pressure and it may shatter if scratched or broken.
• Line up the new bulb in the socket and push it in until the plastic mounting flange on the bulb touches the back of the socket. Reinstall the retaining ring, and reconnect the electrical connector to the back of the retaining ring.
Replacing Fuses
• Fuses come in two basic types (see Figure 5). Older vehicles use fuses made of glass (A). Newer vehicles use miniature plastic blade-type fuses (B). Both consist of a thin piece of zinc or wire, which melts when overloaded. Normally fuses are located under the dashboard, in the engine compartment or in the trunk. Refer to the owner's manual for the exact location of the fuses in your vehicle.
• Fuses can be removed with a fuse puller, an inexpensive tool available at your local NAPA Auto Parts store.
• When replacing a “blown” fuse, always use a new fuse with the same load amperage. The amperage is printed on the fuse. If the fuse continues to blow, have the circuit tested for defects.

Grande Prairie Carpet Cleaning Expert - Alex Baquiran
Q: Does getting my carpet cleaned improve my indoor air quality?
A: What is indoor air quality (IAQ)? It's a term referring to air quality within homes and buildings as it relates to the health of occupants. It's affected by things like microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), micro-particulates of soils (household dust) and other organic pollutants such as pet dander, tobacco smoke, dust mite feces and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Micro-particulates of soils, organic pollutants, and VOCs that are in the air eventually cling to all surfaces as well as carpets. Carpets need to be periodically cleaned; however, in the short term, by holding onto the soils/pollutants, carpets keep them from being airborne, which minimizes the amounts floating in the air. Unless a carpet is at soil saturation, it acts as a sink for dirt, keeping particles from floating in the air and adversely affecting your IAQ. So, IAQ is not significantly improved by carpet cleaning. The greatest improvement occurs when there is regular sweeping, dusting and washing of all surfaces, not just vacuuming and cleaning of carpets. Carpet cleaning is just a small part of improving IAQ.
Other ways to improve IAQ are to 1) ensure sufficient air exchange, frequently replacing stale air with fresh, and 2) use furnace filters of a minimum 1200 MPR rating (Micro-Particle Performance) or 12 MERV rating (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value). Contrary to what you see advertised, there is no evidence that cleaning your furnace ducts significantly improves IAQ.

Grande Prairie Dentistry Expert - Dr. Jeff Falk
Submitting to insurance companies can be stressful, and very challenging at times, that is why our office complimentary submits and collects payment from insurance companies on behalf of our patients. It is hard for some patients to understand the complexity and time constraints that dental offices have when submitting the claims after treatment.
Most people probably assume that we can submit to all insurance companies electronically, but some of the smaller insurance companies only accept claims by fax or mail, either delaying payment or even stating that they have not received the paperwork within the claim period. When this happens, we need our patients to resign the claim form for us to resubmit. Delays happen and we make every attempt to avoid this.
Patients who have two insurance companies may think that they have 100% coverage, but what patients don't realize is that the insurance companies all have different fee schedules, and about 75% of the time the secondary insurance will pay only a portion of what the difference is. When submitting to two insurance companies we always have to submit to the patient that's date of birth falls first in the year in regards to children. If it is between spouses, the patient's plan pays first and then the spouse's plan.
Usually, we can submit the primary insurance first electronically, but then we have to mail the secondary insurance as a copy of the explanation of benefits is necessary from the primary insurance, proving what they would or would not pay for your dental treatment.
Receiving payment from insurance companies is not instant or within a few days unlike when they pay the patients. Some insurance companies only pay on the 15th or 30th of the month, thus collecting from insurances take time, especially if there was an issue with the claim, and the only communication they will make is with the member, not with the dental office. Remember if you ever receive a communication from your insurance company asking for additional information on your dental treatment, you have to communicate that with the dental office, as the policy is between you and your insurance. Nowhere in that agreement is our dental office. Privacy policies within your insurance limit the information we receive. Should you ever receive a cheque or direct deposit and you are not sure what the funds are for please call your insurance company to clarify, as insurance companies sometimes send payment to the member and not to the dental office.
Should you ever have a question understanding your dental insurance coverage, the staff at Gateway Dentistry Group are willing to help!

Grande Prairie on Glass Tinting and Paint Protection - Dale Stevenson
Decorative Window Film
Get Creative with Decorative Window Film Decorative window film turns nearly any smooth glass surface – walls, windows, partitions, desktops, doors, panels bordering elevators and escalators – into a blank canvas. And it serves as much more than a retrofit solution for existing buildings; it's a design tool that can be used to achieve the desired look, evoke desired emotions or convey a specific message. It offers all the benefits of etched or decorative glass, but without the potential problems and added costs: special maintenance, high manufacturing and shipping expenses, inordinate labor charges, long lead times and potential inability to recycle. The decorative film lets you add your style to glass in your projects that make them uniquely yours.
Decorative window film serves many functional and aesthetic purposes:
• Control light transmission
• Enhance visual appeal
• Improve visibility of glass to help improve safety
• Help hold glass together in the event of breakage
• Convey a message
• Partition and separation
• Privacy
• Wayfinding

Grande Prairie Hunting and Fishing Expert- Primetime Hunting and Fishing
Hunting shotgun is one of the most preferred firearms used by most hunters most especially for hunting birds and some animals as they are more effective than other kinds of guns. If you are in an area where hunting is allowed, sure that you will enjoy hunting activity once you have tried it. Hunting is an exciting activity. It can be rewarding in many ways if you are knowledgeable on how to do it.
If you choose to hunt for upland birds, there are various hunting shotguns you can use. However, the hunting shotguns will largely depend on the birds and the location of your hunting grounds, and on your personal comfort with the hunting shotguns you are carrying. Good hunting shotguns acquire different characteristics that you should keep in mind, and these are the following.
1. Look for hunting shotguns that are light, handy and easy to carry. When we talk of hunting shotguns, portability must come first. This is because when hunting for birds you need to make a lot of walks and need to be fast in order to draw and shot birds very quickly. The most ideal upland hunting shotguns weight is about 7 lbs. Remember to choose a gun that is just right for your size and overall strength. If you prefer to use heavier guns, then you must still be able to point and swing it accurately. The less a gun weighs the more kick or recoils it will produce.
2. Select on the right length. You can find various hunting shotguns in the market available for you. Some shotguns are longer than others while some are more compact. Ideally, for upland hunting, a shotgun which length up to 4 feet and not longer than it is a good choice. On the other hand, if you feel like using a longer shotgun, you can as long as you are larger and stronger enough to carry and handle it. But be aware that there are some shotguns that are simply too long for upland hunting and is really not advisable.
3. Choose the suitable gauge. What is gauge? The gauge or bore of a shotgun is simply a unit of measurement that tells the diameter of the barrel. Gauge size is equal to the number of lead pellets, when compacted into a shell, measure the same as the barrel's diameter. Many upland hunters have a collection of gauges they choose from. It greatly depends on you what to use. The most famous gauge is probably the 16 gauge. The 16 gauge shotgun will give you an adequate shot pattern, ideal for shooting quick birds on the fly at medium ranges, there are some who feels good shooting with gauges from 238 to 12.

Grande Prairie Insurance Expert - Brokerage General Insurance
Is Tenants Insurance Something You Can Afford NOT To Have
Do you know how much it would cost you to start from nothing again?
Even though you are only renting the residence you live in, it is important to have tenants insurance on your belongings. A set of dishes may not cost a lot on its own, but when you add up the cost of all your belongings it can be a huge expense. You may think you can't afford it, but $30,000 coverage on a policy is as little as 67 cents per day.
Tenants insurance not only covers your belongings but it also covers your personal liability. An example of a liability incident at your home is as simple as the delivery person dropping off a package at your place in the winter, slips on ice, breaks both their legs and sues you for not salting the walkway. This person could be out of work for a long time, do you have the money to pay their lost wages and medical bills?
Tenant's policies can also cover the loss of use of your dwelling. If a claim was to occur this insurance could contribute to re-locations costs whether it be renting a new place or staying at a hotel for a few weeks while your place is repaired.
There is usually covered on tenants policies that give added value and the 67 cents per day will definitely contribute to your Peace of Mind.
To make sure you fully understand what is, and isn't, covered on your policy contact the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Broker Age General Insurance Services.

Grande Prairie Abundant Living Expert - Pastor Phillip-Robe-From
Benefits from Your Disruption
You are living through major disruptions. The way you communicate has changed. From letters taking a week to travel by mail, you can now send a text message or an email and expect it to be read in seconds.
In the recent past, you had to go into a video store and rent a DVD. Blockbuster video never did embrace digital video rentals and suffered greatly. Netflix transitioned from mailing DVDs to digital video services. Now nearly all video can be accessed digitally from a smartphone as Netflix experiences great success. Kodak never did embrace digital photography as it could have and went bankrupt in 2012.
Uber is the largest taxi company in the world and it owns no taxis. Airbnb is the largest accommodations provider in the world and it operates no hotels. These are disruptions to previously comfortable industries who are reeling from the changes. You are likely to buy something on Amazon for a third of the price you would pay in a store like Sears. Only thing is Sears is closing its doors….
What about you? What will you do when major disruptions happen to you personally? Will you continue to fight the changes, insisting on the old methods of living your life? Or will you adapt, grow, change, and find a way to thrive with the disruptions that happen to you?
It's so easy to focus on the seemingly horrible circumstances that seem to change the rules regarding the life you had. Instead, you might just be able to find a way to adapt and possibly benefit from a disruption in your life.

Grande Prairie Furniture Expert - Ken Gripich
Should I buy a mattress protector for my new bed?
So you have done research, shopped, tested and tested and finally come up with the Perfect mattress for your needs and lifestyle and spent hundreds, maybe thousands on that purchase. Then you ask yourself do I have to have a mattress protector. The
The short answer is no; a better question is should you?
Think about accidental spills, sweat from sickness or high temperatures, let alone the regular skin we lose, and dust mites live off of, along with the chance accidents we all suffer from or our children may cause. If we can catch these things in a mattress protector before they stain our mattress it's a very good idea. Keeping our mattress free of stains
and built up foreign material will add life to it overall and let it work the way it was designed by the manufacturer. Ever moved a bed and wondered how it could possibly be so heavy? The odds are that most of that weight is from years of dead skin collecting in the mattress, most of which would have been caught in a mattress protector and washed away on laundry day each week. So, for safety's sake and in order to get the most life out of your new bed, start out using a mattress protector keeping it clean and stain free as well as hygienic. Don't forget about the kid's beds as well, crinkle free liquid free mattress protectors are available for smaller beds also making that occasional nighttime accident much easier and quicker to clean up and get everyone back to sleep and getting that much-needed rest. Mattresses and their value to us all can't really be overstated, so let's look after them-use mattress pads all the time.
