Answering normal questions. Wearing his jacket again, even if it was at Luke’s insistence. Almost back to how things were before.

The nightmares weren’t stopping, he still evaded sleep as much as he could to avoid them, and apparently sometimes fucking black ooze dripped from his eyes instead of tears now. But he was fine.

It was better for everyone to think that was the case. It kept the worry away, it kept his friends from thinking about him when they had much more important things on their plates than his bullshit.

Nothing was fine, but nobody needed to know that. Nobody should know that.

Ian had always kept his issues close to his chest, didn’t let on to other people. He’d been slipping with that lately. He started getting desperate to be heard, to be helped but no good had come out of it.

He didn’t feel better. People around him felt worse. He’d lost control, he’d almost hurt someone. It was downright selfish to invite people to his stupid pity party.

It was better for everyone else involved if he kept to himself, kept playing like things were getting better.

Stay calm. Stay quiet. Just like he’d always been told to.
