Sonnet 2 - wolves only hunt humans if they've lost their pack or been abandoned
I rose up from the river, from the grass
and fled the hut where once my bloodlust reigned.
I let the seasons pass, the seasons passed
and spring brought back the forest’s food again.
I have no pen to tell of winter’s clutch,
the loss of pack, the frozen waterways
my weakened legs lost in the stinking mulch
when hunger turned me swiftly to dismay.
I cannot shed the things I did that night,
the story haunts me as the decades flee.
Do I regret? Would I take back the bite?
and leave the girl alone among the trees?
No answers come but this one foul truth:
If you were there you would have eaten too.
#my poetry#sonnet 2#ok it won't be a sonnet a week but it will be 52 ultimately#anywayyyy thinking about the little red riding hood wolf thinking THOUGHTS about hunger and abandonment
