the way that marceline and ice king’s relationship (pre him becoming simon again) is like someone talking with a family member with alzheimer’s hurts me

the scene in the last stakes ep where the crazy fight with vp is happening but marcelines sitting out, and ice king shows and says he’s upset he wasn’t invited and she says “i’m sorry simon, next time for sure”

plus all the times before where she’s upset he doesn’t remember her and what they’ve been through and occasionally misinterpreting what their relationship exactly is but that moment got me

Arm in arm, Duff and Axl walk down the street leading to Hell House. The sun beats down on their necks, the asphalt is hot, the air shimmers with the heat. It's a beautiful day to hang out outside. Duff finally lights up a spliff, which Axl watches with growing interest. "Want some?" the bassist suggests after a moment. "Yeah," the singer replies, craning his neck toward his friend’s face rather than the spliff. When Duff understands, he lets out a laugh, then lowers his head. Axl's lips are soft against his, tasting of beer and sunshine. The smoke drifts from one mouth to the other, Axl inhales deeply, one hand buried in blond hair. Even though Duff leans forward, the singer is forced to stand on his tiptoes. At last, the bassist steps back and takes another drag. "Again?" he asks. Axl smiles and exhales a puff of smoke. "Not right now," he hums. They start walking again, still huddled together under the California sun. Life couldn't be better.
