Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?
#i usually just look at the tags and if they sound interesting enough (and don’t include anything i would rather not read) (like a/b/o) then#i start reading it and can usually tell within the first couple of sentences whether or not i’ll enjoy it#because the author’s voice is really important and i’ve gotten good at determining whether or not i enjoy authors’ voices immediately#i do tend to sort the list of fics by kudos if it’s a really broad search or popular ship but i don’t look at the actual numbers i just#do that as a sort of quality filter (again this is when it’s a search with hundreds of results)
