Biography

Asriel was born in Casterly Rock, the ancestral seat of House Lannister, during a time when the realm was on the brink of change. His father, Lord Gerion Lannister, was known for his charm and cleverness, but it was his mother, an ambitious and calculating noblewoman, who shaped Asriel’s outlook on the world. Raised amidst the rivalries and intrigues of his house, Asriel was not one to shy away from the games of politics, but he always kept a distant, calculating approach. His cousin Cersei's ambition and Jaime's unflinching loyalty to their family were traits Asriel respected, though he often felt out of place in their immediate sphere. Unlike them, he never felt the pull of loyalty to the Lannister name, nor the burden of their dishonorable deeds.

From a young age, Asriel was more interested in the broader world beyond the narrow confines of Casterly Rock. He was a natural diplomat, with a keen mind for strategy and the art of persuasion. Though he spent years studying military strategy, the intricacies of power, and the nature of the Seven Kingdoms, his true interest lay in something larger: freedom. He harbored no great love for the iron grasp his family held over Westeros. Asriel was pragmatic but believed that true power lay in unity, not in ruthless control.

As the War of the Five Kings ravaged the Seven Kingdoms, Asriel found himself distanced from the Lannister politics. He had long harbored a growing disdain for his family's role in the conflict, particularly their involvement in the deaths of countless innocents for the sake of power. Although he was welcomed in King's Landing and often sought after by his family, Asriel’s heart was elsewhere. The more he saw of the power struggles between Cersei and Tyrion, the more he felt repulsed by the Lannisters' unquenchable thirst for dominance.

But it wasn’t until the rise of Daenerys Targaryen that Asriel truly realized where his loyalties lay. News of her conquest in Essos reached Westeros, and the whispers of her claim to the Iron Throne intrigued him. A queen who sought to break the cycle of bloodshed and tyranny was a powerful contrast to the Lannisters' obsession with wealth and control. Asriel knew that her ideals, tempered with her dragons and undeniable strength, could reshape the world for the better. And so, despite the dangers, he decided to leave his life as a Lannister behind and seek out Daenerys in hopes of offering her his counsel and support.

He had finished to get things ready by the time Q woke up again, two bags waiting for them by the door. "Sorry? What are you sorry for exactly? The sweet cheek kiss or the fact that you wouldn't go back to bed without me being there?" His voice was light, teasingly. "You don't have to be professional all the time, Q. It's all good, don't worry, okay?"

It was amazing how much just another hour of sleep seemed to clear the fog from his brain... And replace it with embarrassment. Q had to take another five minutes following Zara's soft nudging to keep himself from panicking. When he had gotten himself dressed, he wandered out and eyed Asriel warily before hanging his head. "I'm sorry for earlier, I was not really awake but I understand it was unprofessional."

He chuckled once more, Stelmaria joining them by the bed despite keeping her distance. "I promise you I won't." He watched him drifting back to sleep for a moment before standing up. His eyes met the ones of the snow leopard and she didn't have to speak out loud for him to know her thoughts. You're growing attached. That made him rolled his eyes and he walked out of the room, heading to the laboratory to get everything ready for the expedition.

"I'm not a deer." Q grumbled as Zara came to lay at his feet, almost as amused as Asriel was. "It's not like we get much sun up here." He pointed out as he curled up on the bed, looking up at the older man with fuzzy eyes. "If I find out you went out without me, I'm going to replace all the coffee with gravy granules." He promised as he let his eyes flutter shut.
