Basic rules for analysing fiction, an incomprehensive list jotted down in a hurry:
The protagonist isn’t always right
The protagonist isn’t always good
The protagonist isn’t always written to be relatable or likeable
The narrator isn’t always right
The narrator isn’t always good
The narrator isn’t always telling the truth
The narrator isn’t always the author
The protagonist’s moral compass, the narrator’s moral compass and the author’s moral compass are three entirely different things that only occasionally overlap
Pay attention to what characters do and not just what they say
Pay special attention when what the characters do is at odds with what they say
A lot of the time the curtains are blue for a reason. If they aren’t, you should read better books

Sistertale - Chapter 2: Return
Sis...
The last word continued to echo inside my head. Caught off guard by this little surprise while trying to take in my surroundings, I could do nothing but blink in confusion. Only after the boy embraced me was I shaken out of my daze and back into reality.
"I've missed you so much," he said, on the verge of crying.
I was at a loss, nervously looking around for an explanation. I peered at the girl over the boy's shoulder, who was wiping her eyes on the back of her hands. The boy finally burst into tears, almost losing his balance and holding onto me for support.
It was more than enough to bemuse me that a stranger started calling me “sis” and acted as if I were someone close to him. I didn’t want to upset him or anything, however, even if we were not related. Nevertheless, traces of discomfort and unease started to rise from the depths of my mind.
The boy’s weeping eventually ceased and he unhugged me.
"Come on, Astell. Mom's not going to believe this! She'll be so glad!" He said, taking my hand and setting off so abruptly that I stumbled.
I held back, and the boy's hand lost its grip on mine. The boy turned to look at me, now looking confused himself.
"Astell?" He called, "We're... going home. What's the matter?"
I slowly backed away from the two, covering the hand the boy pulled on with the other. The boy looked at the girl worriedly, then eyed me once more.
"Sis, it’s me..." said the boy, carefully approaching me and spreading out his arms, "Your brother, Asriel."
I timidly shook my head instead of answering him, looking at him in the eyes while keeping my head down. It was the most polite way I could express my refusal. I hated to break his heart, and he had virtually brought me back to life, but that didn’t change the fact that he was a stranger. It didn’t help that he was calling me “sis,” either. I quickly looked away from the boy’s moist, bright green eyes, unable to assert myself any longer.
“I... I don’t understand,” muttered the boy, holding out his hand at me, “it’s like she... doesn’t recognize me.”
I noticed that the girl’s expression had stiffened when I took a glimpse at her. Her brows furrowed, her eyelids curiously veiling her emotion and the thoughts within.
“What do we do, Frisk?” Asked the boy, his astonishment presumably subsiding.
“Huh?” exclaimed the girl, as if breaking out from a trance, “Oh sorry, you were saying?”
“Astell,” said the boy, “Something’s not right with her...”
As the two discussed my problem, I looked back at the scenery again. The ocean of green was fading into a lake of darkness, and the shadows were growing all around us like pitch-black fingers trying to snatch the three of us away. I turned my attention to the path we were about to take, and vast woods came into view, a strange site. A place of numerous possibilities, not all of them leading to desirable consequences. The risks of staying behind appeared to outweigh the benefits even further considering that I was a little girl, vulnerable to what might not be as perilous to a grown-up. It didn't take long for me to conclude that I'd have to choose the lesser evil out of the two.
I slowly approached my saviors, fiddling anxiously.
“You’re right,” said the boy eventually, nodding and turning to face me. He knelt on the ground, his eyes level with mine, which shined with determination.
The moment he held my hands in his, I could feel the fur on my arm stand on its end, barely resisting my instincts telling me to flee instantaneously.
“I understand that you’re confused, sis. You might not recognize me, but I’ve come all the way here for one sole purpose: to rescue you. I, along with my friend here, give you our word that we will protect you at all costs. You have to trust us, Astell.”
His voice was firm, and his clear green eyes stared into mine passionately. Stunned at his abrupt change of posture, I considered his words and the situation thoroughly. Bits of fear and hesitation still lingered in my mind, but after a moment of contemplation, I finally gave a slight nod.
The boy’s stern, solemn look relaxed into the same warm smile he wore when he saw me wake from my slumber.
“Let’s get going then,” he said, “before we all get lost in the dark.”
I took his hand, despite the remaining awkwardness, and the three of us ventured into the darkening woods.
“Did she never talk before?” Asked the girl as we navigated through the labyrinth shaded by trees overhead.
“For some reason, no,” answered the boy, “Even the doctors couldn’t tell us why, but we loved her nonetheless.”
I heeded the ongoing conversation in hopes of finding out who I am and used to be. It appeared that I grew up in a delightful family, of which I seemed to have no memory. Just hearing such tales aroused in me a flick of excitement and joy, but the sorrow for being unable to remember them weighed me down at the same time.
"Here we are, sis," said the boy, drawing the last drapes of boughs and twigs open, through which I spotted patches of light glimmering on the other side.
At the foot of the mountain were dozens of small houses clustered together, forming a sizable but cozy village. I had to make a significant effort to take the entire scenery in, but my field of view wasn’t wide enough. The houses threw warm gazes at us through their lit windows. People came and went, greeting the boy and the girl while eyeing me with great curiosity and interest. Some patted our heads or rustled our hair, and others stretched out their palms at us for us to slap. The whole surrounding was a site unfamiliar to me, but I had a strange feeling that I was welcome here. It was as though the village was letting me in for its welcoming embrace holding all its people.
“Hey sis, you wouldn’t mind if we dropped by a place before heading home, would you?” Said the boy as we neared the heart of the village.
I felt like an alarm abruptly went off in my brain telling me that I should have thought thrice before putting my faith in strangers. I had to make large efforts to calm the doubtful voices in my head, reminding myself that trusting them was my choice and it was the best option I had. Hiding my anxiety, I followed the boy and the girl to a massive pair of gates. Beyond them was a vast garden full of flowers and the largest building I had seen so far around the village. The girl pressed a button on the gate, which was followed by a buzzing noise. A deep but affable voice responded after a short while.
“Howdy! Is there anything I can do for you?”
“It’s us, Dad! We thought we might stop by... We also have a surprise with us,” the boy answered cheerily.
“Asriel, my boy! And Frisk too, I presume? Of course, you’re always welcome. Come in.”
The gates creaked open to reveal a path lined up by walls of flowers leading straight to the building. As we strolled through the blossoms, I noticed light spread out onto the garden path like a carpet. It was emanating from the open doorway, silhouetting a tall, stocky figure approaching us. The moment I saw it, I felt my insides do a sudden flip. Every single strand of fur covering my body stood on its end. My heart felt like it froze to a halt for a second, and then it started to race as though telling me to take an immediate flight. Even with a great part of my memory concealed beneath layers of murk, I recognized at once the bulk and the long, curved horns protruding from its head. My legs gave way and buckled, and I fell on my backside as the distance between the silhouette and me shortened. I frantically scuttled away from it, turning over and crawling on all fours before managing to lift myself back up and sprinting off.
It was the devil from my nightmares.

I did go through a lot back then...
The memories are still vivid
Some I would never want to let go
Some that used to haunt my dreams
All of them made me who I am today

The day my life took another turn

The day I was brought back to life

Sistertale - Chapter 1: The Discovery
‘Kill me!’ Was all I wanted to say, which remained as nothing less than internal screams. ‘Kill me instead! Spare her! Please, I beg you!’
I still remember the scene vividly, where I would frantically pound on the invisible barrier between myself and the horrific, brutal scene of the murder. The body, now devoid of life, collapsed with a reverberating thud, and so did I, onto my knees, out of utter despair. The drops from my eyes hit the ground with might and main, fueled by bitterness and sorrow. I couldn’t save her. Not once since, well... forever, and certainly not this time, either.
Footsteps echoed throughout the void. I looked up to see her emerge once more out of nowhere. Her face showed no expression, and her eyes were fixed on her destination, her imminent destiny. I stepped between her and the fate awaiting her, determined to stop her from reaching it. She, however, walked straight through my body as if I weren't there, as if she were a ghost. I ran after her and desperately pulled on her arm, crying out. She paused, turned to look at me, and said in a monotone voice, "You should have done that decades ago."
She then pulled her arm out of my grip, marching onwards to her demise. The demon awaited her patiently, eyeing the prey walking into its lair, its gleaming fangs showing amidst its vicious smile.
I had lost count of the days I spent trapped in this endless loop of nightmares, fearsome memories constantly playing like a film in front of my eyes. I was helpless, being able to neither look away nor close my eyes on the brutal scene. There was no escape.
...or was there?
The tears from my eyes would have formed a stream were I not interrupted. At first it sounded like a sporadic song that had lost its rhythm. As it clarified, however, I recognized them as voices, voices I wasn’t familiar with, voices that didn’t belong here and now. To whom did they belong? What were they talking about? I was about to find out shortly.
On hearing the sounds of people, I got up and looked around frantically for the source of the voices. There lay nothingness, only more darkness around me. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and cleared my mind, listening closely. Surprisingly, the agonized scream that had struck panic and fear into me for so long gradually faded as I did so. There came a few more incomprehensible words, followed by footsteps approaching me, tapping lightly on the floor as if they were being cautious not to wake a sleeping baby.
“It’s her,” said a voice excitedly, gasping for breath.
"She’s a sleeping beauty,” said a second voice, sounding feminine and softer than the first one.
“You'd like it even better if you saw her back when she was wide awake,” said the first voice, sighing, “She was a gemstone. We would have lots of laughs together... It’s a shame she had to go through such incidents. Let's see if the passcode works.”
I heard a few beeps from some buttons and a hissing noise. I immediately sensed a change in my surroundings, mostly the air. It was damp and stale, which drove away from my nose and took the place of the same, limited supply of air I’ve been breathing for some time.
“Hey...” whispered the first voice in my ear, “It’s... been a while, hasn't it? I’m sorry this had to happen to you. You can rest now.”
Did I know this person? I couldn’t remember whether I did or not. In fact, other than the sole memory that fueled my biggest fears, I had no recollection of anything at all, not even of my family or myself. My head ached as my brain sprang into action after years of standstill, only accustomed to the horrific film that played repetitively in my mind and now trying to process the surge of new information.
"Let's go," the voice said to his companion, sniffling.
I felt my body lifted from where I lay and gently laid on a hard surface, doubled over, and was eventually carried off. To where I had no idea, or why. Judging by what the boy had said to me, however, I figured the people taking me might not be up to any harmful purposes. I could only guess by the hissing of electric sparks and the pungent scent of the air that I was in an abandoned facility of some sort. The hostile atmosphere gradually changed into a rather refreshing, calm one as we journeyed out of the place.
"Would you like some help?" asked the girl after a while.
"No thanks, I can manage," the boy replied, although he was huffing and puffing from his efforts.
"You know what, this feels somewhat familiar..." he added, then sighed, "Too bad neither can return..."
"I'm sorry."
"...well, what's done is done. I can't let it chain me anymore. I should put myself together and press on," the boy said gravely after a short pause.
The girl said nothing.
While listening to their conversation, I could feel senses gradually returning to my body, which was stiff and almost numb from staying still and inactive for a while. I tried moving my fingers and my toes. Never did I think the simplest thing such as moving a finger would take this much effort. It was quite painful, as if I had a sudden cramp. I winced every now and then out of pain following my attempts to come back to life again, but I didn't stop trying. A certain force fueled me to keep on struggling despite the pain.
The journey soon came to an abrupt pause.
"Frisk," said the boy, presumably addressing the girl.
"Yes?"
"I... I think she just moved," the boy stuttered, hope and excitement in his voice.
"I thought you told me earlier she had "fallen down"...?" said the girl skeptically.
"I did, but she just... moved. I felt it."
"Hold still for a moment, would you?"
"Sure."
Silence continued for a while as I made steady efforts to free myself from the paralysis. After a few more twitches and winces, I was able to curl my hands into fists and open them again.
"You're right, Asriel," said the girl, astonished, "She seems to have recovered somehow..."
I stretched my body as if a cat would, feeling the tension and strain put on every one of my muscles and tendons. With one last mighty endeavor, I triumphed over the semi-permanent slumber that had claimed me as I pushed open my eyelids. A shaded field of green with a streak of yellow came into view, and when I raised my head, I was faced with a divine vista of sublimity. An ocean of orange and blue spread out across the view, a couple of yellowish puffs swimming in it. A bright yellow orb hung just above the horizon. In the distance beyond the sea of green stood majestic peaks of mountains on one side and tall structures, nestled together and letting out little spots of light, on the other.
While admiring the scenery, I felt myself lowered and gently put on my feet. I wobbled a little, having completely lost my sense of balance over the years. A hand grabbed my arm and helped me keep my balance. I looked up to see who had helped me, and my eyes met two other pairs looking back into mine. The boy holding my arm had a face covered in white fur with green eyes and big fluffy ears. The girl had a smooth face with eyes that seemed to be closed all the time and brown hair. Both of them were smiling at me.
"Hi, sis," said the boy, tears welling up in his eyes, "Welcome back."

Greetings to all Humans and Monsters.
My name is Astell, daughter of Queen Toriel and King Asgore Dreemurr. You can just drop the honorifics and call me by my name though when you talk to me ;)

This is where I'll be sharing mostly my diaries/memoirs (you can call it in any way to your liking) but also art I make from time to time (like the one above) and more. I'm also willing to answer questions you might have about me, my family, or my friends.
You can also ask me for rps (as long as it doesn't contain anything in the list below).
Certain things, however, might make me uncomfortable or even offend me. Below is a list of things I would appreciate if you refrained from bringing up in my blog:
- Cuss words. Keep them out of my blog at all times. (d*mn or lm*o counts as well)
- NSFW, fetishes. Even if you meant it as a joke, I'm not comfortable around it. You will be blocked instantaneously.
- Racism/hate talks (I have had similar experiences, and it was painful to say the least. Don't bring it up here and keep it to yourselves.)
- Anything containing sensitive topics (e.g. pr*ship, inc*st, selfc*st). Please understand that I don't want any drama to go on.
- Personal Questions. (Just don't go too personal XP)
Other than that, you are free to look around :3

True
Also i would like to learn about monster history as well
As far as I know, our history differs little from yours up to the point we were sealed; Sure, there were times of conflicts from time to time, but it was an era of peace most of the time up until the War.
I might sound a little biased from this point on, I'll admit it. (I've grown up reading history from our point of view, and the Humans appear to have forgotten the fact that we existed in the first place when we were liberated XP) It all started to go wrong when people found out that Monsters could take Human souls. Of course, we had no intention to take advantage of the ability; we wanted peace and were surprised at this discovery as much as the Humans. Their fear of us, however, was too great for any negotiations to make progress. I think you already know what happened afterwards, until the Liberation.
I'm willing to tell you more through my memoirs/diaries(whatever you would like to call them tbh). I need to collect and organize my thoughts thoroughly for now since there are so much going on at the moment...
I guess you could also ask Mr. Gerson if you'd like to find out more.

Tbh i don't know that much about our history...i mean ik my country's history but not so much of the others
I found that somewhat curious as well at first; not all Humans live in the same way or have the same history. But at the same time, I think that's what makes them all the more interesting.

What's your favorite thing to do?
I like to read about Human culture and history; being apart for centuries left us totally ignorant of their part of the world (not to mention the other way around, too :P).
I also enjoy drawing from time to time and hanging out with my friends.

I dunno what to post since I'm new here...
I guess I could start with an ask box post...?
You can throw in any questions you have about me, my family, or my friends.
I may not answer your questions if it makes me uncomfortable or if it's concerning a sensitive topic.
Other than that, you are free to ask away :3

A Human child
Fallen from the surface
Down into the land of those abandoned.
It was that day when the savior
Who would free all of Monsterkind, arrived.
Through generous acts of friendship and mercy
The angel proceeded onwards to her fate.
The fallen child and the lost prince
Hand in hand
Shattered the barrier.
Everyone received
The happy ending they deserved.
...
A tale that everyone knows and remembers.
But that wasn't all.
No one
Not even those who pulled the strings
Expected this to happen.
...
The princess.
She was found.
She was finally found.
It had been so long.
So many resets had to be made
For her to awaken from her eternal slumber.
Little did anyone remember
Little did anyone
Not even the princess herself
Realize that she was another key
To shatter a second barrier
That kept Humans and Monsters apart.
Through her, they were reconciled.
Through her, they found harmony.
Thanks to her
To this day
We live in peace and love.
This is where my story begins.
