I wanted to create for my book cover a worm hole like shape, I wanted it to be full of colours and have a spinning whirlpool like look. After I had done it I realised it just wasn't going to work the way I wanted it to.
What I had done to get this was I layered 3 or 4 colours on top of each other then I smudged them together to create this effect, but I changed my mind.
Instead I thought I would just use the picture of my work and see if I could make it into the book cover. I liked this idea better as it really shows off the the contents of the story.
I took the last photo of it that I took and resized it to fit the frame in a position that looks good, now this would be good as the cover like this, but I thought it needed some extra umph to make it pop.
The fist step was to turn up the brightness so its more see able and bright.
Next I turned up the vibrance to the top, so you could see all the colours and details really well.
Next I changed the contrast.
I kept fiddling around with different adjustments to change the look, I messed with the vibrance and contrast more and the colour balance to create a more orange and desert feel, I also adjusted the brightness as I felt maybe it should be too bright as this will set the tone of the book.
To give it a glitched effect I layered multiple of the same image on top of each other and giving it different layer masks.
Next it was time to add the text, I named it The Time Machine like the original book, and name also give it the same author as its obviously his book. for the name I wanted it to blend with the sand and look like its engraved into it, so I changed the opacity and the brightness to darker so it was more see able and gave it a thin black outline. For the name I used white text and a thin black outline and made the text small so its not in the way, and put it in a space so its not covering any of the other object. I also put a barcode at the bottom to give it that real life feel.
After that it was put on the mock up and it was finished. I could have done some things different, for example I wish I changed the name slightly to make it into a sequel story not the same story, I could have called it "The Time Machine and The Thief" or "The Time Machine Thief" I could have also called it "The Time Heist" even "The Time Chase", there's a lot I could've done. and for H.G Wells I could have changed the colour or size as its really not see able on the book cover at the angle. Other than those things I thought the other things were well done with the colours and how they blend together.

Back to the future
"Back to the Future is a 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis, and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson. Set in 1985, it follows Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Emmett "Doc" Brown (Lloyd), where he inadvertently prevents his future parents from falling in love – threatening his own existence – and is forced to reconcile them and somehow get back to the future."
This film is fantastic, I love watching back to the future, they were so well made and there take on the concept of time travel is very well done, one of my favourite things about the films is how they show what people thought modern day would look like when in fact they are nothing alike. In back to the future, 2015 had flying cars and hoverboards, whereas in reality technology did progress in a very big way, we haven't got that far yet.

Doctor Who
Doctor Who, being one of the biggest tv shows in British history and being the BBC's most popular and well known tv shows around the world, is all about time travel.
Doctor who is about a man who travels around time and space in his time machine Police box known as the Tardis, he goes on all kinds of adventures dealing with monsters in the past and the future with his human companion. Doctor Who has one the most interesting stories in tv in my opinion, being one of my favourite shows and all.
The show deals a lot with the problems of time travel as well, introducing a new concept of fixed points, things that are meant to happen and cant be changed by any means, if they were to be changed it would cause a time paradox (although they break this rule a lot).

The theory of time travel
How do we know that time travel is possible?
"More than 100 years ago, a famous scientist named Albert Einstein came up with an idea about how time works. He called it relativity. This theory says that time and space are linked together. Einstein also said our universe has a speed limit: nothing can travel faster than the speed of light (186,000 miles per second)."
"What does this mean for time travel? Well, according to this theory, the faster you travel, the slower you experience time. Scientists have done some experiments to show that this is true.
For example, there was an experiment that used two clocks set to the exact same time. One clock stayed on Earth, while the other flew in an airplane (going in the same direction Earth rotates).
After the airplane flew around the world, scientists compared the two clocks. The clock on the fast-moving airplane was slightly behind the clock on the ground. So, the clock on the airplane was traveling slightly slower in time than 1 second per second."
"We can't use a time machine to travel hundreds of years into the past or future. That kind of time travel only happens in books and movies. But the math of time travel does affect the things we use every day.
For example, we use GPS satellites to help us figure out how to get to new places. (Check out our video about how GPS satellites work.) NASA scientists also use a high-accuracy version of GPS to keep track of where satellites are in space. But did you know that GPS relies on time-travel calculations to help you get around town?
GPS satellites orbit around Earth very quickly at about 8,700 miles (14,000 kilometers) per hour. This slows down GPS satellite clocks by a small fraction of a second (similar to the airplane example above)."

My Opinion.
I do not believe time travel is possible, even though its a cool concept, its not possible in the way that the movies and tv shows show. Something we should think about is if time travel were possible, should we? There would be many dangers if it were the way things work in theory, changing the past could drastically change the future and your own personal history would change, people could cease to exist, YOU could cease to exist, your loved ones, or other things could happen, there would be many factors to look into if we figured out how to time travel.

EGX (continued)
They also had promotion for The Exorcist.

and more Obviously they had GAMES. They had the New Super Mario Bros Wonder which I’m very excited about as an old Super Mario Bros player, we got to play the game which was very fun and we even got to meet the main men themselves.

And we got to take pictures in the warp pipe.

We got to play some classics as well including one of my favourite games Halo.

We played some Indie games but we couldn’t quite understand it, like how it worked or what the goal was but it was pretty cool looking.

And we even played some sonic.

It was a very cool experience and I think it was better than last year, there seemed as if there was more to do and more games I was interested in playing and I had a lot of fun and some good laughs with the group I went with, so to sum up it was a very successful trip.

EGX

We went to EGX in London this week and it was pretty cool and fun.

The market there this year was very cool and had some very interesting things, ranging from cool artwork to plush toys and some cool LED lights, I even got myself a cool collectible of The Master Chief from Halo.

There wasn’t just a market but there was even movie promotions like the upcoming, highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s which I am very excited to see.

Here is my plan on how I want the book cover to look, I sketched out the kind of thing I want and then I sketched out how I planned to photograph it.

I masking taped the bottom so the sand wouldn’t fall out the gaps and filled the now enclosed picture frame with sand and placed my model in it in a way to make it looks buried, then I’m going to add some extra parts I have spare to look like it crashed down.

I spread out the different parts to look like a debris field.

Then I added a shoe print to looks like it was recently uncovered or dropped las someone was walking past.
I added some small markings in the sand to make it look more natural.

Now I have painted I need to create a scene for it, I plan to use an old picture frame and fill it with sand to look like it was dropped on the beach or in a dessert of some kind.

I painted the picture frame I chose black.

Beginning to paint.

I have started to paint the model, I plan to have the cogs and machine parts a bronze colour with the base being black to stand out more, I want to also add a rust effect to the machinery.

Here is one of the cogs fully painted in the brown/bronze colour, next I’m going to paint the watch.

Here I’ve painted the watch and the small pieces bottom left, I also added some rusted detail to the cog which I painted.

Here I’m starting to paint the other side of parts.

Here is as far as I got, I want to colour the parts that are still wood silver to make it seem like future parts have been added.

A sketch of how I plan to photograph the model
I want the light to be coming from the side of the model and the camera to be Infront while the model is standing up.
