September Update

I finished Gill's route!

... and immediately lied and started working on Olivia's route, instead of the two I mentioned.

I don't want to promise a timeline, but I'll be doing my best to release this on Valentine's Day next year. (That's almost certainly not going to happen, but fingers crossed!)

August Update

Hello! Long time no see.

I've made progress on Gill's route, and the writing for Gill's route is (finally) almost done, clocking in at over 90k words!

I will probably begin working on Lukas's route next, and wrap up with Axel's route afterwards, before moving onto all the girls.

Hopefully, now that my motivation and time has increased, I will be able to wrap up all the writing within the year.

Romeo’s Route is Complete!

After something of a silent period, we’ve finally completed Romeo’s route in the dating sim!

Word count has now hit nearly 80k.

We are beginning work on Gill’s route right away

The results were pretty close from the start, since Lukas and Romeo were tied almost the entire time. However, a few of the last votes managed to turn things in one favor or another.

The Results Are In...

First of all, thank you to the 37 people who voted!! Your participation in the survey is appreciated deeply ^^

The results were pretty close from the start, since Lukas and Romeo were tied almost the entire time. However, a few of the last votes managed to turn things in one favor or another.

First, the honorable mentions...

An honorable mention for Axel, who got absolutely no votes. (The poor guy.)

Gill and Maya each got one vote each. Nell and Olivia were similarly tied, with two votes each.

Petra and Stella were contenders for first initially, but ended up capping at about five votes each.

Now for the official ‘leaderboard’... the Secret Route was in 3rd place, with six votes. (So we’re not working on that.)

There was a wrestle for this spot for most of the voting period, with Stella, Romeo, and Petra tied in a deadlock, but...

Lukas was in second place, with seven votes.

This means that our next route will be...

Romeo!

Well, I did hit a milestone.

I finished Aiden’s route! :D

Now there’s… uh… 10 more milestones to go before the dating sim is finished.

I’m not finishing this by February.

In order to hit those milestones, though, we will need to know which route we want to do next! If you would like to have a hand in it, here is the poll:

As of December 9, 2020, Minecraft: Story Mode: Behind the Scenes (or MCSM: Behind the Scenes if you want slightly less of a mouthful) has been released!

There are a few things that are unfinished as of yet (namely the rest of the game, as well as the voice acting), but the demo is out!

Over the next few months, my main priority is finishing up writing the rest of the game. The dating sim isn't done-- not by a long shot-- but the prologue-y bit is complete, and that's what I wanted to get finished with this demo!

My plans for the next few months:

Finish up the writing. This will probably take a few months in itself, but if I work on it a little every day, I want to set a goal for myself to finish it by the end of February.

I do have other not-game-related projects I want to finish as well, so there is a chance I won't have the writing done by then anyhow.

That's pretty much it. I don't want to start on the CGs I will need until I'm absolutely certain that it won't be wasted, so by the latest I want to have the dating sim's writing completed by the end of March. This is a personal goal to avoid burnout or a loss of interest

My plans for after that:

Open up beta-testing. I only really need three people per platform to test (Mac, PC, Linux), so I will open those up once I begin coding routes.

Work on the art for the routes. I will probably do it one route at a time, so beta-testers will receive each update one route at a time.

What is Soul in the Seams about? Sorry if you already answered this.

Souls in the Seams is a game about a doll and explores the connections the doll has with three (or four?) people! The three main routes explore the connections with a nobleman, a wizard, and a student.

All the sprites are finally done, so now all that needs to be done is finishing up some code cleanup + doing the endscreens

Then its updating the screenshots on the Itch page and it’ll finally be ready for release 🙏🥺
