after 62 google doc pages, i’m finally done with the flashbacks for W + their heart event as well!
ngl, it was so much fun to write because it gave me a lot of room to develop the relationship between them and MC before the summer of 2017 happened. i’ll need to do a lot of editing to remove needless exposition and fix spelling + pronoun error, but this draft is looking pretty satisfactory for now.
next, i’ll get started with writing about MC’s first week at class, which will also include the tryouts/auditions for the extracurriculars they’ll be participating in. this will take me the longest time because there are so many branches and i fear i’ve cornered myself with the variations 💀
the future beta readers are going to be a tremendous help with this chapter, and i’m already dreading the mess they’ll have to read through. either way, that’s something future axel will deal with.
i hope y’all are staying hydrated and taking care of yourselves 😡 alright, imma go touch some grass now.

Checking In...
Hey, everyone! I know it's once again been a hell of a long time since I said anything on this blog. Long story short, my focus is on Valiant right now, but I'm still working on fixing my problems here.
A quick refresher: I hit some roadblocks with Ninelives while I was revamping Chapter 3 that became too cumbersome to ignore. Though some of these roadblocks had to do with my own insecurities, most of them were related to difficulties with the template I was using. I was having a lot of problems with it and spending more time fixing layout and formatting issues than writing, and that really put a damper on getting work done for it.
So during all of this radio silence I've been on the hunt for a different template that solves my problems and also fits the vibe of Ninelives. I think I've finally found it (template by Vahnya), and I've got a functioning version of the first few passages of the game. Here's what it looks likes (now with 100% more portrait mode mobile capability):

There are still a lot of things I need to fix—remnants of issues from the old template, inefficient ways I coded certain things when I was newer to the language, adding more color layout options so everyone has something that's readable for them, removing javascript functions I no longer need, adding in more that I do need, etc, etc.
But it's all gonna be worth it. Once all of the text is imported into the new file, I'll be able to dedicate time to actually writing rather than constantly putting out fires.
I just wanted to let everyone who follows me here know: this project is not abandoned; I'm still working on it little by little. It's just that fixing and updating coding issues is an incredibly tedious affair, so it's going to take time. If you're still following this blog, I'm gonna assume you haven't given up on this one yet, and I don't intend to let you down! 😤

Progress Update — 30/06/25
I've been sick for most of the month (twice, too 😩), so work has been a bit slow, but I finished outlining and have begun writing the first draft. I'm almost done with the first scene. It's quite long, around 8-9K words with all the branches. Considering who the Oracle meets at the end of the previous chapter, there's a lot to unpack, so it's not surprising the scene has grown so big.
I asked you for your opinion on the Oracle's reaction to that character, and I want to thank everyone for replying 🫶 I've decided to stick to the options I chose. But don't worry—your Oracle still will have plenty of space to express their feelings in different ways. You won't be locked into feeling and acting in one particular way with that character. My goal is to make their relationship and interactions as fluid as possible, so you can make decisions independently of your feelings (or dependently, if you want it to be that way).
For example, your primary emotion might be happiness, but you still can get angry with the character. You can be bitter/angry about the meeting, but still give them more kind responses. Or you can stick to the emotion you chose and be angry/happy/bitter with them to the end. So basically, your primary emotion will add some flavor text to your other reactions. And none of these things will affect what plot decisions you can make, but I'll speak on that a bit later, when you know what I mean.
There are also some other variations at work during the convos with them. Some answers will influence your relationship with the character and some other things. But I'm keeping these details a secret for now :)
As I mentioned, the chapter will be shorter than the previous one. I made sure not to add to many scenes into it, but I still have to write five routes (romantic + platonic variations), so I won't finish it in a month. But I promise it'll be worth the wait!! So many tasty things are happening in this chapter 🫣🤭

Arcadie: Cold Lands - Progress Update - January 2025

I've spent literal days working on the mobile interface of Arcadie: Cold Lands, and I'm finally happy with the results!
It involved reworking the UI completely and re-coding all the menus, as there was no easy way of making it mobile-friendly like with Twine.

Other exciting news:
I am aiming for a Q4 2025 full release on PC/macOS. Mobile versions will come early 2026.
The public demo will be available in June 2025.
I will be launching a Patreon very shortly! If you choose to support me, you will get access to the alpha version of Arcadie: Cold Lands, playable on both PC/Mac and mobile, updated monthly as I work on the game. More info soon!

Progress Report - 12/25/24
Hello and happy holidays!
It’s been a while, huh? 😅 my apologies for disappearing on you all. Long story short, I had a severe case of tendonitis in my shoulder, and have spent the last few months heavily restricted in my ability to type or do pretty much anything on the computer. And since I’m left-handed, and it was my left shoulder, writing the old fashioned way wasn’t much of an option either. It’s been absolute hell for me, to put it lightly.
I’ve finally recovered enough to be able to get back to work… slowly. More slowly than I’d like, honestly, but it is what it is. I’m trying my best not to overdo it and set my healing back. It’s easier said than done.
Besides the speed, however, work is actually going really well! Well enough that I have the next update very nearly ready to go. I have a really bad, game-breaking bug lurking somewhere in my code that I’m trying to unravel, but once I’ve found and squashed it, I’ll be able to roll the update out to patreon 😁
Beyond that, I also have a couple mini-stories planned (akin to the Spooktacular from a couple years back), the first of which is written and mostly-coded. I wanted to have it ready earlier this month, but again, work is slower than I want it to be. In addition, I want to roll out an updated version of the Idle Hands prologue/demo to my lovely and infinitely patient patrons, and I really hope to finally, finally release the first episode of Partially Stars.
Most of all, I hope to start being more active again on tumblr and to stop disappearing for months at a time. That’s my number 1 goal for 2025.
So that’s everything I’ve got for y’all for now! I’m gonna go back to fumigating my code so I can kill this bug, and with luck I’ll have something fun for you all very soon.

Sooooo another progress update,
This one will be extra short too, but—got ~40k words coded for the prologue. Added choices and other stuff here and there, and I'm at the spicy scene. Rn that scene alone is about ~16k words. I aim to please as many people as I can (no pun intended🤨). It's a challenge juggling all the different versions (M!El, F!El, what El wears, what MC wears, MC's sub or dom side, etc. etc.), but I'm getting there.
And that's about it.

Progress Update May 2025
Hey, everyone!
Just a small progress update to let you know what I've been doing this May!
As you probably know by now, TSSW 3 is complete 😂 Right now, I'm doing the final edits after the game was professionally copy edited.
These should be finished within the next couple of days. Thankfully, there was nothing that had to be rewritten or changed content-wise! I did good! 🤩
So yeah, gearing up for the release which will probably be sometime in July or maybe even late June. I will let everyone know when we have a solid date down!
As for BtM, the second to last big segment is officially finished! This means that BtM is one segment away from completion! 
For those of you who've played the early access, lemme just say that more things around water may or may not be happening... 👀👀👀
It's so funny to me, though, that both games will be finished so close to one another LMAO!
I hope you're in the mood for lots of intimidating puffin studios this summer 🤣
So yeah! Now that TSSW 3 is almost out, I'll be focusing on finishing BtM, and that's the plan for the next couple of months!
Hope everyone is HYPED to dive back into TSSW 3!!! I know I am! Can't WAIT to be able to discuss some of the things that are happening in the game LOL!

Arcadie: Cold Lands - Progress Update - November 2024

(I know it's almost December but better late than never right?)
Arcadie: Cold Lands is gearing up to be much more complex to write and code than Second-Born, purely by virtue of it acknowledging your past choices.
Whether a certain person lives or dies, whether you even take them along, whether you accepted a certain deal...
It's a lot of work to keep it all cohesive and not have one path seem better than another, but it's also pretty fun and rewarding.
I've also just come off playing a game that is a sequel to one of my favorite gaming franchises, and saying I was disappointed is an understatement. I really was not fond of what they did with the world, and the... dumbing-down of the writing. My fault for buying a game day one!
Anyway, that made me really want to honor your past choices, and not shy away from giving you more role-playing options. So the possibility of being a force of... chaos, is back, though only when it makes sense. I don't want to write stupid or gratuitous evil, but rather self-interested tyrant. We'll see how it goes as I write along.
Oh and I have disabled access to the demo for Arcadie: Cold Lands, as it doesn't reflect the current state of the game. I'll probably be posting an updated version next month or in January.

Progress Update - Crown of Exile
So. It's been a while. I'm alive, sort of. Do I dare tempt fate by saying I'm on the last chapter of Crown of Exile and if all goes well, we'll have the first draft done later this year? Probably.
In all seriousness, I should have stuck to traditional novels. No one tells you that branching variations are crazy until you're sitting there and writing three outcomes for four variations for four different paths. It's a lot but on the plus, I'm on the battle scenes which is when everything you've been working towards suddenly gets tested.
It's been fun but I can't say I love writing variations. Eventually, when this behemoth is done, edits will begin and when that happens, I'll be looking for some detailed feedback for implementing additional choices, dialogues and of course romance option(s). For fans of Virion, let's just say, it'll happen one day 👀
For now, rest assured that while things aren't being posted every few seconds, minutes and days, I am still very active on working on the game. Hopefully, the next post like this will be announcing the completion of the first draft 🎉
I know there are some asks I haven't answered, but I will be getting back to that soon so if you have anything to ask, please send them through 💖

Progress update
It'll be short, but just to let y'all know, I'm still working on the rewrite. Got 27k words coded of the prologue, with added choices, small scenes, flavor texts, etc.
To give you an idea, I'm about 25% done because I'll have to completely rewrite the spicy scene—the one I wrote is... meh. I'll add stuff for the fluffy scene too. For now, I'm right before the dinner scene where MC attempts to propose but gets interrupted by the waitress.
I'll be quiet for a while here as usual to get everything done faster. Thanks btw to the people who's praised my work in my inbox, offered advice, deep observation, or just ranted and rambled—it's much appreciated. Love reading yall even if I don't reply immediately🫶
