this is the case for every diagnosis but the concept of "moral ocd" really takes collapsing a big variety of experiences under a singular post hoc pathology to the next level. like oh ok now everyone who experiences debilitating worry about their role in the evils of the world, regardless of their actual role in those evils - as a settler, as an employee, as a person living in the imperial core, as a member of any dominant group, or even on a personal level - can now wave it away as a brain pathology. two options are now worry about it in a way that centres your own paralyzing guilt and paints you as the victim of your goverments' actions overseas or stop worrying about it by not feeding into the compulsion loops and not exposing yourself to the rage of the people those systems hurt or whatever the dbt advice is nowadays. you're not having panic attacks over this because we live in an unfathomably evil world in which you play a role, this is just a personal pathological reaction that you yourself are one of the very few people experiencing ❤️
