sorry if i'm gonna be quiet for a while. my country recently introduced laws that make it so that in order to use social media to the fullest (not being able to view ns/fw content and in a few cases, not even having access to dms), i HAVE to give the sites my id/face scan.
it goes into effect july 25th. it'll probably effect here too, since this place allows mature content (tho not full on ns/fw)
i'm very distressed about it bc i might end up not even being able to talk to my internet friends. i don't really have any irl ones
if i have to disappear on most socials by then, you know why.

Yeah so unfortunately, my friend was right. Muttering 'I'm gonna put on the greatest talent show this town has ever seen' darkly to myself is not only vastly funnier than saying I'm gonna kms, but is also somehow more concerning to anyone who might overhear it

we should talk more abt cities that are vampires. cities that are cold and wet and sink into your bones and stay there. cities that are hungry and want to live. dead cities that dont know they're dead and suck the life force of their people to maintain the delusion. cities with harbors that are actually mouths; one-way entries. cities that are devastatingly lonely and see consumption as love

I understand Edinburgh vs Glasgow discourse is fun to some people (grow up), but always find it funny when classism is mentioned because it’s not like Edinburgh doesn’t have working class people, and Glasgow has more than its fair share of wealthy snobs.
And honestly if I want to take it a step further and upset folk, a lot of people from Glasgow have a chip in their shoulder about being from there which makes them come across as insecure. These are the same people who lash out at anyone from outside of Glasgow calling them teuchters.
#man fr#like do i joke around a little bit because i was born in glasgow (though have lived a wee ways outside of it all of my life)? yeah#but the way some people are dead fuckin serious about it is like#mental to me#like every city has its merits n downsides#that came free with your ''being inhabited by people''#to that point though man I need to go to edinburgh again (and falkirk honestly) bc it's been a while and i adore the atmosphere there#anyways my daft rambling aside. good post op

re: this post, highlighting JKR's antisemitic shirt rebranded with her own ip
a lot of the notes are acting like the original tweet is "stupid" for not connecting the dots that it's still antisemitic even though it's harry potter.
y'all. the original tweet is by Alison Rumfitt, an author in England who is a trans woman, and who notably writes horror revolving around contemporary fascism in the UK, often with extremely obvious references to JKR's political influence in said horror novels.
she knows. that's why she constructed the tweet that way. she is intentionally making it impossible for people to not connect the dots, while wording it in such a way to avoid prosecution from libel laws for calling a spade a spade.
give trans women a little credit, please. you are not smarter or better than her for having read her tweet and come to the conclusion she intended to communicate.

as a cis guy, when presented with the "99% you get a ton of money, 1% you turn into a girl" it honestly would be dumb to not hit that button until it breaks. like ok now i have 100 bajillion dollars and gender dysphoria. big deal. i have all the money in the world to turn me back into a guy. like with that kind of money i could have obama do me a phalloplasty. he wouldnt be able to do it as he isnt a surgeon but the point still stands

Wait I'm sorry if this is a really daft question, but can you elaborate more on what "taking ownership of our role in the greater British empire" means?
So my view is that independence for Scotland all boils down to responsibility. We want to be responsible for our own decisions and how we look after the people who choose to make this country their own.
The Scottish Independence Movement pre-devolution were portrayed by unionists as people who had let Braveheart go to their head.
The idea was that campaigning for Scottish independence was based on a manufactured misrepresentation of history and that we all harboured grievances that Scotland was oppressed by England.
Being told that was actually what they believed had an effect on some pro-independence folk early on took a 'Scotland never did anything wrong' stance.
That is both wrong, and incredibly misguided because other impressionable politics enthusiasts around the world adopted the whole 'Scotland never did anything wrong and it was all England'.
Which over the past 10 years since the referendum has made it incredibly difficult to be pro-independence online. Because pro-independence 'progressives' (and right-wing bad actors) who have never lived in Scotland have played up this stance and made it more difficult for us to have conversations.
TL;DR - Scottish independence is about responsibility. That means taking ownership of everything we did in regards to global colonisation and the slave trade. People arguing we didn't (supposedly on our behalf) are harming the independence movement.
