On Sunday, we drove all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to Luray, Virginia in preparation for our big hike today at Shenandoah National Park. Dan and I summited Mary's Rock and found ourselves above the cloud line.

While in Atlanta, Georgia, we had some time Saturday morning, and decided to walk to the Center for Puppetry Arts nearby the hotel we were staying at and got to really see how Jim Henson and others harnessed their crafts.

The last couple of days have been a whirlwind! My husband and I had the pleasure of traveling down to Atlanta, Georgia for a family wedding, and made a few stops along the journey. On Thursday, we spent the evening in South Carolina, and early Friday morning hiked Congaree National Park. Have you ever seen trees with knees?

Yesterday, to celebrate our anniversary, my husband Dan and I drove up to Albany, New York and hiked at John Boyd Thacher State Park. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the weather could not have been more perfect.

I took part of a free afternoon and visited Arlington National Cemetery. My grandmother's brother is buried there, and I felt like I needed to see that. Also, former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is interred there as well.

While on my trip, I was able to explore parts of Washington, D.C. The photo of the Capitol was taken from the rooftop of our bureau offices.

If you know me, then you know that I love a good scandal. While on a work conference trip over the last week, I was able to stay in the infamous Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. and take a tour of the “scandal” room.

Dan and I spent a quick weekend in Pittsburgh to visit friends. It's been a couple years since we've been in the city, but the food was good, the weather was nice, and the company was great.

Paul McCartney put on an incredible concert last night in Syracuse, New York. Three hours of non-stop music, laser light shows, fireworks and fire cannons. From "Love Me Do" to "Come on to Me", the man, the myth and the legend certainly knows how to entertain the crowd.

Here's the last couple of photos from our trip to Nashville. Broadway, which is apparently the bachelor/bachelotte party capital in the United States, was busy from sun up to sun down, but we enjoyed our time there. It was never quiet, you could never find a table to sit at, but the drinks were good and the company was even better.

The highlight of our visit to Nashville was a tour of RCA Studio B. This studio was built before Nashville really accepted country music as its’ own, and before Elvis Presley really took off as a performer. The tour was really a step back in time, and something I will not soon forget.

Once in Nashville, Tennessee, we kicked off our week in the city with a concert! Simple Plan and Sum 41 put on an incredible show at Marathon Music Works. I’ve loved both bands since I was an early teenager, so to finally see them in person was a dream come true.

While making our way to our destination, we made a stop in Louisville, Kentucky for a beer and a snack, and the Gallant Fox Brewing Company really struck our fancy. They offered great, unique beers and soft pretzels that really hit the snacking spot!

Over the last nine days, my husband Dan and I took time away from New York and traveled through parts of the midwest and the south of the United States. Our first stop was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. We spent quite a bit of time looking at the Beatles exhibit, but made sure to see everything the Hall of Fame had to offer.

We had another warm March weekend, and before the rain took over the area, I was able to get outside and hike through the IBM Glen in Endwell. This place has always given me an eerie feeling, it’s almost hauntingly beautiful. I love the local history that living in Upstate New York provides, and I am always interested in learning more.

We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather on this Sunday with an afternoon hike in the woods at Jones Park in Vestal. While the snow and ice have not quite disappeared, we were able to go slow and steady and get a good, long walk in before the work week got underway.

Despite the snow squalls and bitter cold temperatures today, my husband and I spent the day in Watkins Glen on Seneca Lake. We toured Lucky Hare Brewing Company’s new production facility, and enjoyed some beers that you can’t get anywhere else yet. It was a quick day trip, but we enjoyed the time spent away from the house.
