I just think that eventhough he always loved her more than himself, he let's her life her own life and let's her make her own decisions. This is so much against these stupid #justgirlythings and it's so much more touching.

This bothers me more than anything else in the fandom, because how their relationship was handled is one of my favourite parts of the series, including how it fell apart. Severus wouldn’t have made a good boyfriend (unless he got his head out of his arse), and he wasn’t even a very good friend, but he ultimately respects Lily’s decisions. He never claims to be a “good guy” or “nice guy” and is truthfully pretty much the opposite in any sense of the phrase. He never asks for pity and owns his mistakes and awfulness. Because of that I’ve always thought of him as a subversion of the usual romanticized sad dark boy tropes, and that’s so refreshing in YA fiction.

Love him or hate him, I don’t care, but can we please stop calling him something he’s not?

When they tell you things that scare you, Do not blame them for the way they think- If you think it’s scary loving them, Imagine what it’s like Being them.  It’s okay to be scared, But be scared Together. That is how you love them. And when they smile and seem okay for a change Do not take it for granted- Smiles and hearts are fragile things And that is how you love them.
