HUNDREDS OF REASONS NOT TO BE RELIGIOUS #236

Religious people not only tell us what is a sin, they also tell us which sins can not be condoned even in other people. And they do this without even pretending that their God told them to interfere with the lives of others.

Kim Davis, with the support of Reverend Mike Huckabee, refuses to allow gay marriage of others. That is a “special” sin that requires the government employee to prevent it.

But no one suggests that Kim Davis, or any government clerk should refuse to issue divorce papers. Divorce is clearly prohibited by Jesus, and He never mentions gay marriage or anything else concerning same-sex relations.

Huckabee and Davis have decided that gay marriage is more sinful than divorce. And their God didn’t even have a say in the matter. They think that they can speak for their silent God.

The accidental geography of our birth should not determine our religion. Europeans and Americans are born Christian. Far East nations are Buddhist. India is Hindu. Near East people are born Islamic, with a few areas of Judaism and Christianity.

We should all reject the religion of our parents and nation, and start over as weak agnostics. That simply means that we do not have enough evidence for the existence of God.

Then we should study everything we can obtain over the years about God and religion. It is too important for us to just accept any belief without study. After long study, we will realize that no religion has evidence of God’s existence. This is a strong(or militant) agnostic.

Hundreds of Reasons not to be Religious #116

There can not be one true religion because the God of that religion could not let so many people believe so many wrong ideas. No matter what religion you consider, it is only believed by a tiny percentage of humanity. The majority of humanity is not evil; they just truly believe differently in their hearts. We intelligent humans seek the truth for all people. An all-intelligent deity would want to provide the truth for all people. Since almost all humans have different beliefs, almost all humans must be wrong. God would not let this happen. Therefore, there is no God.
