Full Name: Athena Mariette J. Vendor
Startup Name: CHEllers
Hypothesis:
School supplies are one of the essential things a student should have. Those essential things can be used for different school activities and school work contributing a great significance for them as a student. That is why the establishment of school supply facilities or other shops that render service to educational needs is timely and still a trend for students. Stores that sell school supplies are located in the area where some students can access them easily and some cannot. In the College of Human Ecology, our team noticed that the said college has little to no access to school supplies when needed urgently. Students need to travel from one place to another just to access school supplies. So, we came up with our proposed start-up, “CHEllers” which aims to address students who are in need of direct and tranquil access to school supplies. CHEllers will cater students that have an interest in procuring school supplies while guaranteeing an affordable price bringing the finest qualities.
Hypothesis Tested:
How did you test your hypothesis?
Our team tested the possible efficacy of our start-up by conducting online interviews with random students of Central Mindanao University specifically within the scope of the College of Human Ecology. Utilizing the data collected, we can evaluate whether our proposal will be feasible or not.
What are the results of your interview?
Analyzing the gathered data, it is evident that the proposed start-up will be carried on due to the reasons: 1. Most of the interviewed students of the College of Human Ecology wanted to have easy access to school supplies which calls the service of CHEllers; 2. The students of HE find the proposed idea convenient for them, thus bearing less burden; 3. Our team also identified potential opportunities that it might give to students who are also suggesting and wanting to have direct access to school supplies where they don’t need to spend money to travel from one place to another to procure supplies.
How many interviews have you made?
8 interviews were conducted by the team.
Team’s Options: The team’s options before gathering the data are: 1. Carry on with the proposed start-up; 2. Terminate/abandon the proposed start-up.
Team’s Decision: Due to the team’s unanimous decision factored by the gathered data indicating positive responses, we decided to venture and proceed with the proposed start-up considering its efficacy, timeliness, and feasibility to customers.
Lessons Learned: The “CHEllers” was the group’s last resort due to the failure and termination of the first proposed start-up. Indeed, when entering the world of entrepreneurship, it is a battle and a competition for the reason that by the time a group is thinking of ideas and brilliant start-ups, there are also groups out there who thought of it at the same time. By the time we witnessed that our start-up failed, it seems like we can’t think of a new and unique one since other groups have already had the possible ideas that we could feasibly venture. Fortunately, we have seen this one problem, particularly in the College of Human Ecology, and from there, we started to think of it as an opportunity. Failure is inevitable and I always hold on to hope that there is a new beginning to an end.
