Digital Marketing: Marketing Reflections

My original strategies and tactics for online marketing were to first develop a plan for effective and economical marketing. Second use various platforms of advertisements to reach all markets, such as search engines, and social sites. Third, identify, and pinpoint specific targets for marketing.  My goal for the course overall was to master the technique of search engine marketing.

After taking this course I have witness the advantages of digital marketing, and the benefit of using Google analytics. Since applying tracking to my website and blog I have monitored and managed the views and usage of my webpages. Moreover, I have implemented organic searches as well as paid searches.

Overall, I am expecting to increase traffic to both my business and blog site by continuing to implement the tools from Google and other similar search engines. Speaking of other search engines, I have also redeemed a $100 credit from my hosting website company Go Daddy. I used my credit to display my ad on Bing and Yahoo, and I am excited to see the results of using all three of these search engines simultaneously.

I am confident that I will continue to gain more knowledge and techniques with digital marketing.

Mastery Journal Timeline-- 12 course overview:

My journey throughout this program was carefully documented via my tumblr account. Looking back over the courses, I have to admit that I admire the idea that these assignments were recommended. It is amazing to look over all the things learned in one year. So here it is, in chronological order all 12 of the courses completed in my Master of Entertainment Business Program.

 Leadership Style: Maxwell vs. Greene

My leadership style would have to be a combination of the Maxwell and Greene. I think my actions through precisely, and try my best at all things that I do. However, I also have the dog-eat-dog world mentality, much like Greene in his writing of the 48 Laws of Power. However, Leadership never occurred to me a sense of the way Maxwell explains, he really breaks down every aspect of the development of a leader, readings these traits are helping me understand which style I truly am or that I would to become. The ultimate goal in Maxwell’s book is Personhood/Respect. Everyone should aspire to have respect from their followers, and have people follow them because of respect, not because of a title.  Moreover, I find myself “Entering Action with Boldness” I usually lead to the best of my ability, and react accordingly, weather I am fully trained or not. If I am placed in a position to lead, I lead. At the same time I like for my team to understand I am a team player, as well as a people person, having people know that they are a valuable assets is always a plus. According to Maxwell a leader should build relationship with the team, and then lead, I agree with this as well. All in all, I find myself using both Maxwell’s, and Greene style of leadership, both, can be useful when used correctly. I feel as though knowing when to separate the two, is the best technique. For instance you wouldn’t want to use a law from Greene, in a situation where Maxwell’s traits is the best choice. In essence, a leader should fully know how to lead oneself before knowing to lead others. 

 Project and Team Management Course Goals

My goal for project and team management was to successfully construct a major project with well equipped team and a efficient budget. 

My project is working on post-prediction for a music video, and my team… well you would be surprised to know who my team members are. However, the budget was well though out, as well as the timeline to complete the project.

 Business Story Telling and Brand Building Course Goals

My initial goals for this course was to build a brand that speaks for itself. I can honestly say I am definitely still working on brand building. There is so much that goes into building a brand. After constructing my business mantra, by describing my business using no more than three words makes it easier for the consumer to understand what you are advertising. My second goal was to determine my target market and their interests. My company understands who and why we are targeting. However, I believe building a brand is something that will always be a continuos endeavor.

 Mastery Journal Timeline Goal: Entertainment Business Finance

My Strategies and Statistics for entertainment business finance were to:

Understand the concept of financial planning

Develop strategies to produce financial expenses and operations

Use and acquire skills in everyday planning and budgeting

Overall I learned the concept of financial planning. However this course was very, very challenging for me as finance is my weakness. I did learn important information from reading the course documents and the books for this course.

The information I have learned is most useful and will implanted in future products and showcased in my final business plan.

My goal was that entertainment business finance will enhance my budgeting skill. The tools  that were used to teach the fundamentals of finance was definetly a eye opener and makes me view budgeting in a new light.

 Mastery Journal: NADM

My goals for negotiating and deal making were to;

Asses the business skills to become a strong negotiator and make deals the can not be replicated as well as possessing a unique technique for negotiating.

The goals that established for myself where somewhat met. After taking this course I now understand that having a unique negotiating style takes a lot of time to master. However, I have adapted to the idea of using game theory in complicated situations in order to reach a BATNA (best alternative to negotiated agreement). I do believe that becoming a strong negotiator requires a lot of knowledge and research.

The strategies and tactics that I initially had are;

Understand and study deal-making case studies

Develop sound and precise deal-making contracts by way of negotiation

Use the Full Sail Library to have full access to studies and readings

Over the course of this class I realize that my best tool while trying to better understand how to become a negotiator was by reading the books assigned for this course titled.  Beyond Reason: Using Emotions as You Negotiate, Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In by Roger Fisher

Overall my skills are enhanced from this course and I will continue to grow with negotiation and deal-making.

 Mastery Journal: Product and Artist Management (PAM)

My initial goal for this course was to display a strategic technique for managing products and artist. 

I believe I have exceeded this goal and successfully completed this course. I have learned techniques and I have used several of these techniques in business plan. My product and management skills are more enhanced and developed and I have the ability to pitch my ideas to potential investors in the near future.

Wow! This course has met and exceeded my goals. My strategies and tactics to complete this course are as follows:

Understand, study, and apply precedents in entertainment law.

Use resources such as documentation, case studies, articles, online sources etc… to better understand concept material

Learn the vernacular of the field of law in order to communicate and comprehend material better.

I am 100% sure that these strategies have helped me accomplish understanding advanced entertainment law.

Finally, my goal was to have the ability to use law terminology in a situation of legalities while in my field of work, study or career.

Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution: Mastery Journal Timeline Goal

The strategies and tactics that I set for myself are:

Learn new techniques for protecting media from piracy.

Examine issues within the digital media publishing and distribution and create solutions.

Use Lynda.com resources to learn new media platforms for publishing and advertising.

My goal was to construct a publishing distribution plan.

Overall I am very please with the outcome of the results from the strategies and tactics to my one and only goal. I was able to create a well sound press kit for my film project, as well as create a strategy plan for distribution. I gained knowledge about using distributors and what to look for in the right online distributor.

Now that I am half way thru this course, I can honestly say that I have accomplished several of my tactics and strategies. Working with Google analytics I have learned the fundamentals of grassroots marketing. Installing Google analytics onto my blog site www.emupstart.blogger.com helps me identify the amount of traffic that is received on my blog site. In addition to installing Google analytics on my blogger, I also installed Google analytics onto my business website http://www.BirthdaySugar.net. This will give me a better perspective of what time of traffic I am receiving to this website as well as my blog site. I took Google a step further and choose to install ads onto my website. I believe adding the advertisement onto my site will also help accumulate revenue, due to Google pay per click system.

 Moreover the goal that I had in place for business plan development was to compile all learned material together to enhance the format of my business plan.

 After looking back on my strategies, tactics, and goals as the business plan development course is coming to an end, I believe I have accomplished my strategies and tactics.  Utilizing the worksheets weekly in business plan development helped me gather information need to complete assignments.

This course also included weekly discussion on a interview with former Full Sail entertainment business alumni, Jayson Whitmore. Whitmore interview gave me an insight on how the knowledge we are receiving will take us a long way in the field of having a small business. 

The more challenging part of this course would have to be the spreadsheet (with out a doubt) finance wasn’t my best subject, and not much about that has changed. However, I still try to do my best on all materials assigned to me.

Finally my goal is to compile all the material together for my business plan. This is a great way for me to retain all the information that I have learned throughout the course, as well as having a official business plan, to help get my business up and running.

In essence, this course (just as the others) has helped me improve in the entertainment business overall.
