My Reflection for the First Quarter in Learning MIL

With first quarter, we tackle what are the importance of media and informations. We discussed how media works, how it evolves and how it revolves on us. I understand that media really revolves on us and somehow we revolves on media. WIthout us there could be no media, and without media there could be no informations.

'Language' in this sense means the technical and symbolic ingredients or codes and conventions that media and information professionals may select and use in an effort to communicate ideas, information and knowledge. (UNESCO)  Media Languages - are codes, conventions, formats, symbols and narrative structures that indicate the meaning of media messages to an audience. Media Information and Languages are important because it enables us to understand and access infomations that we do not know nor we’re not familiar with. 

Media Information and Sources

A media source is any resource that serves as a means of communicating to a general, public audience. These sources are important because the medium in which we receive a message shapes the message. What is Library? A place in which literary, musical, artistic, or reference materials (such as books, manuscripts, recordings, or films) are kept for use but not for sale. (Merriam Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary) What is Internet? A global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. What is Indigenous Media? May be defined as forms of media expression conceptualized, produced and circulated by indigenous people around the globe as vehicles for communication.  It is better for us to know where we can find sources of informations. In order for us to be sure and aware of what we are gathering.

We can acquire informations from somewhere, someone and something. 

But is it safe to just gather informations without knowing the context and meaning of it?

That is why Information Literacy is important.

Information Literacy is important in order for us to:

To empower us to learn for ourselves.

To enable informed decision-making.

To equip us for success in our careers.

To encourage the careful evaluation of information sources for bias and inaccuracy.

To help us deal with information overload.

Information literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, organize, use, and communicate information in all its various formats, most notably in situations requiring decision making, problem solving, or the acquisition of knowledge

. 

Types Of Media 

Media is an outlet that can be used to spread informations. Media can be classified into two types: Traditional Media and New Media

EUPHEMISM

A euphemism is an innocuous word or expression used in place of one that may be found offensive or suggest something unpleasant. Some euphemisms are intended to amuse, while others use bland, inoffensive terms for concepts that the user wishes to downplay.

Some of us knows that Gay. Bading. Bayot. Bakla. is an insult but no, it is a compliment. Those words needs no euphemism. Some members of LGBTQIA+ experiences euphemism mostly when having a social interaction but it can also happen in online and on social media platforms. We can use social media to spread love and awareness for our beloved members of LGBTQIA+

Please keep on our minds that being gay is not a sin. Being called 'gay' is not an insult.

As time passes by, everything around us develops, improve, and evolve.

Human evolution is the lengthy process of change by which people originated from apelike ancestors.Just like humans, media also has its evolution. Media has its origin, own history. Media also evolves as humankind evolve,it develops and it improve. As the media evolves, it reaches a wide scale of population, that population can ba manipulated by the media. My point here is by the innovation of media a lot of people are affected with good and bad effects of it.

Media. Where you can gather new and fresh informations and you can also learn, socialize and entertain. Media is a powerful resources that anyone can use. From what I've learned, you can use media to engage or communicate with someone.
