Thinking about a pet yandere sub story where a haughty princess takes in a foreign coliseum warrior as her guard dog, keeping him on a leash and feeding him fruit by hand. She likes him because he's the only thing that's really hers, as everything in her life is granted by the crown. He likes her because she saved him from a life of misery and torment, and is the only person who has cared for him. As their bond grows, dissent against the royal family reaches a head. To protect him, the princess is forced to abandon her pet at the edge of the kingdom. They don't see each other for a long time, until the royal family is assassinated and he suddenly swoops in to save her. In their time apart, her pet has turned into a warlord, taking advantage of the political turmoil and public dissent to gain power. He plans on marrying her to legitimize his claim to the throne. Now their roles have been switched, with the princess being the trapped pet and her warrior pet being her jailer, except he still goes puppy mode and calls her "master" and tries to maintain the vibes of their previous relationship. So now the princess has to deal with her switchy pubby sub taking over her kingdom all while she navigates all her conflicted feelings about him.
