For a very brief moment, Sun considers not going. They don’t want to think about what happened the other night, much less be questioned about it, but things have officially gone too far; Moon is too dangerous to be ignored.

Besides, Sun thinks as he drags his feet toward the Daycare doors, brushing off maintenance would be against the rules.

It’s very grateful that there’s adequate lighting on the way to the main stage-- it’s not entirely sure what it would do if that weren’t the case. But it makes it to Jonathan without incident, and manages to force a bit of pep into its walk once the mechanic comes into view.

“Hₑᵉello!” Sun manages, its voice a little tense. “H-Here I am! Just like you asked!”

They don’t know Jonathan too well, but he seems like a nice guy. Good at his job, thorough in a way not all mechanics are. Sun tries to feel reassured by that, but they’re far too on-edge right now to ignore their own nervousness.

“What-- do I do now?”

𝙅𝙐𝘿𝙀 𝘿𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙏𝙀┊┊┊  A very small attempt was made.   But it was made.  Clearly, it was drawn on a yellow sticky note she found but Jude did try to make a card.  There were really no words on it, just the picture done in marker and yellow highlighter, but she sure tried.  Feeling as though it wasn't enough of an attempt, the sticky note is stuck to a bottle of confetti suns as a gift.  It's simple and to the point.... Kind of like Jude.  

They love it. The drawing is so charming-- that's him!!!-- and the various details and subtle yellow marks pulling the whole thing together do not go unnoticed, either.

The confetti is also a welcome gift, one that Sun will do his very very best not to make use of, say, behind the counter in Customer Service or anywhere else Jude and her belongings tend to frequent.

Most of all, they love that it's from her. Her personality shines through every aspect of the present, as does a warmth they did not expect from her when they dropped off their own little card. She likes them, she really likes them! What other troublesome, high-maintenance machine here can say they've been personally wished a Happy Fazentine's Day by the Design Manager Jude?

"Psst. Skylight." It's naptime, and Lo is very good at being quiet, her head just barely poking in through the door. "I left your card on top of the castle, you can grab it when you get a sec." And she's gone again - best to let the kids sleep!

Sure enough, taped to one of the curtains was a big heart cut from dark purple construction paper. it was decorated in neon stars and balloons, and opened to a smaller heart on the inside, this one a pale lilac and written on in shimmery gel pen. It read:

Dear Skylight,

Thank you for the considerate Valentine's card, I could tell you put so much work into it! It's been wonderful having you at the Megaplex, so thank you for adding color and fun to each night!

And as promised, on the back is her own drawing - this one is in colored pencil rather than paper, but is still a charming sketch of Sun and Moon with Lo, sitting on a wall attached to a much bigger version to the attendant's "castle", set to a loosely-sketched sunset with a crescent moon peeking out from behind the castle.

A card for them? That's unexpected. It's not that they're surprised Lo would give them one-- she's very, very nice-- they just weren't expecting their gesture to be returned so quickly and in such a sweet, touching manner.

The Daycare Attendant reads the card, then reads it again. The kind words and lovely drawing on the back make them feel warm and fluttery. Happy.

This is definitely getting put up on the wall of their room.

The card is so sweet they just can’t contain themself! After reading both sides carefully (and admiring the little drawings peppered here and there), the Daycare Attendant holds the card safely out of the way with one hand and pulls Bonnie into a big one-armed hug with the other.

“Thank you thank you thank you!!”

With a quick press of that “blinding” smile to Bonnie’s cheek, Sun steps back from the hug to move their arm from the bunny’s shoulder down to take Bonnie’s hand in their own.

“This is sᵒ⁰⚬ nice! I know the perfect place for it in my room-- I just have to figure out how to display both sides at once!”

" Sunny Side-Up, just the pal I was hopin' to see! ", Bonnie declares as if relieved he'd found Sun in the daycare centre of all places. Right. Without a second thought he thrusts an enveloped card towards the other, tail wagging momentarily in excitement as he waits for it to be taken. " Here, this is for you! "

Of course, he couldn't leave his favourite Moon without a card of his own, so if Sun were to perhaps flip his one they'd be met with another message on the back ;;

Bonnie's quite proud of them, if his delighted little smile says anything about it.
