Final Blog Entry (The Product)
2 November 2019. Week 8. Final Post.
Over the course of the past few weeks I have learnt how to draw effectively. I still have a lot to learn and I'll continue learning even after this project.
The concept I began with in my first week was "Learning skills in a short amount of time", and that relates to the theme of becoming a creative hero merely because learning new creative skills expands one's horizons as a creative. It may not be an original project or an original concept, but it's something that spoke to me as it's always a skill that I wanted to learn properly and improve on. In my final product I reflect most of the skills I have learnt over the course of these 7-8 weeks, and also added things that I did not learn, experimenting in a way. My final product is a digital painting of myself as a samurai, but not any samurai, a creative samurai. I used values to indicate that before I learnt this new skill my life was monotone, but being able to learn it and improve brought colour into my life. This is reflected in the painting - I, the creative Samurai Hero will slice creativity in my life and destroy all doubt in myself to do what I must. The sword in the painting is also a sword I own in real life, which I will prove by adding an image of it along with the final product. This concludes my rationale.

Creative Dev Log 7#
1 November 2019. Week 7. Blog post 7.
This marks the day for my second last creative development blog entry. It's been a wild ride and before I continue on to create something cool for myself, I must show what I have been planning.
Up to this point I have been practicing and improving my drawing skills and a fairly short time (which relates to my concept and the theme). I am becoming a creative hero.
This week I decided to sketch out a whole page to come up with poses for my final illustration that I will be making. As seen here :
Tumblr media
I see the progress I have made and I am proud of myself for practicing and improving.
I plan to use these these poses and techniques to illustrate myself as a samurai, but not any samurai, a creative samurai. I will unveil more of this in my final entry and submission, but I am very excited to start working on it.

Homework Post #6
30 October 2019. Week 7. Homework post 7.
This is the final homework post for the term and creative development.
In class, we just went through the rough details of how we have to submit our assignments and final deliverable for this term. We also went through the brief again to see if each individual was ticking all the requirements in the blog posts or entries (hopefully I do). And then we went through the rubric which was fine, I feel I've managed to keep up with everything in this project and what I want to do so far.
As for the end of the class, we spent some time watching a documentary to contemplate about. This was about well-known artist's struggles to eventually achieve success. People such as Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh. This documentary focused on the long path to achieve success, spending years to improve a skill (which relates to my project) and eventually become a great artist. Each artist goes through a difficult stage and then eventually finds what they love doing, and pushing no matter what relates to a concept by Mihaiy Cziksenmihay (spelling). This was really deep and it made me think about my skills as a creative. I feel I should carry on doing what I'm doing even if I don't end up getting any attention or fame at first. The point is to carry on loving what I do.
This has been a great year of creative Development, I still have two more posts to do, the final entry and the final deliverable with my rationale.

Creative Dev Log #6
29 October 2019. Week 6. Blog Post 6.
For the past week I went and took a bit more of an experimental approach towards my project. I went and practiced a few different styles and poses to refine my drawing capabilites and to find my own style as well.

Even though it's not much, I feel these small exercises help a lot to improve my own skills. Now it's time to start working on my final, me as the creative hero.

Homework Post #5
29 October 2019. Week 6. Homework Post 5.
So, for the homework blog post this week I am supposed to blog about some of the finer details we discussed in class regarding our term assignments - specifically focusing on the rationale for it this time.
We wrote down a few keywords relating to our project at first:
Tumblr media
Then we moved on to put these words that we wrote down into different categories in order to perfect the rationale (which we did not get to writing due to time constrains).
Tumblr media
Overall, I feel this was a good exercise and one worth the time it took as it gave me a broader perspective on how the assignment actually works.

22 October 2019. Week 5. Blog post 5.
So over the past week, my fiancé introduced me to a website by the name of skillshare and I started to make use of it to highten my abilities in drawing. It turns out that this website and its courses really did have an impact on my drawing abilities, I learned how to construct bodies for a start by focusing on the head , waist and chest in a three-dimensional space.
Tumblr media
I then moved on to dynamic poses and even attempted drawing my own type of figure sketch implementing this technique being used.
Tumblr media
It turned out a lot better than I expected! I will keep practicing this and put it into my final digital drawing.
That is all for now.

Homework Post #4
20 October 2019. Week 5. Homework Post 4.
It did take me a while to post this,I know. I had to go and work on some of my other subjects so I didn't quite get the time to really focus on just this. For this week's homework/classwork post, I need to show off some cards and advice.
We were tasked with being an oracle and a seeker and had to seek advice and give advice to other students based on two cards we got. These cards were answers to problems they were facing in relation to this project. Here are a few :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a student has given advice (the oracle) they have to give the card to the student they gave the advice to.
My question to the oracles was "What can I do to finish this project with all the other things going on in my life." Notible answers to my question was that I should focus on doing a few things at a time and therefor have more time to refine my project. Another anwer was that I should just finish what I've done so far so that I can focus on what should be done after those projects have been finished. All the answers I received were good, and people gave good advice. I myself gave advice as well, by giving people insight on how they could imply implicit things to their projects or make it seem different. Also by showing them how to incorporate the theme better and to get the project flowing a lot smoother.
It was a fun class and 45 minutes to spend my time with.

Creative Dev Log #4
15 October 2019. Week 5. Homework post 4.
So, I have a little confession to make. I did not have the time to really get into depth with body studies the past week, as I have been working on a bunch of other projects in the meantime. However, that does not mean I did not do anything for Creative Development!
Instead of taking time to learn something new, I have decided to take a step back and really put some things I learned into practice. I am very happy with the results!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a few faces to show how much following such an exercise has actually helped me improve. It feels a lot easier to draw faces now, and in future, I will be happy to draw any kind of face or head!
I will return next week with some new studies, which will be body and stylistic poses.

Homework post #3
11 October 2019. Week 4. Homework Post 3.
This week in class we were handed A3 papers on which we had to carefully explain our project for the term. This A3 paper then had to be passed around in a group and we had to give and receive advice through means of anonymous sticky notes.
Here is mine:
Tumblr media
Now, I feel the need to clarify something. I am not using other mediums! The purpose of this exercise I've carefully established for myself throughout the course of these 8 weeks is to learn how to draw. Not to paint, or use water colour, or any of that. Those are things that I will study by myself afterwards. I just find it funny that some people think I should do that. No, I am not. I don't have any knowledge on drawing in terms of anatomy, how the body moves and any of that, so that is why I want to improve in terms of drawing that, then I will consider moving to something else. Plus, this IS and 8 week process because it's not something that I could just do perfectly in a day,now how do you expect me to use other mediums? I'm sticking to my plan. Thank you to those who gave proper advice and actually thought about it. It felt like people were just giving advice for the sake of saying words.
That is all.

04 October 2019. Week 3. Blog Post 3.
This week I followed another tutorial , but an actual Kienan Lafferty tutorial and not something that I found on pinterest, I confess. However, I feel proud of what I have learned this time, and what I did learn is how to construct faces, specifically in 3/4 view which is considered quite difficult. I'm going to practice a bit more on this but for the sake of the blog post, I will post what I have learned this week, or have drawn this week.
Tumblr media
Faces!
And as an added bonus I drew two extra sketches of anime characters from memory, however, I do have prior experience to drawing some anime but it felt like I did better in these than previous drawings of mine.

Homework Post #2
4 October 2019. Week 3. Homework Post 2.
So as of lately in classtime, we have been tasked with creating a monster which has a direct connection to a problem we are facing in relation to this project about blogging. My personal problem that I face is simply that I tend to rush my work in order to be less stressed at the end of the term, but this is no project that could be rushed and finished in two weeks like most of my other projects in college.
So the monster that I created I like to call the "Rush Monster", and although he may have not been beautiful when created, this monster forms part of me and I am proud of constructing it and bringing it to life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not the best maker of these objects, I'm more of a digital person, but sometimes it's quite relaxing to get your hands dirty and full of paint. It was also quite a fun and exhilirating task to be done in one hour and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Homework Post #1
*27 September 2019. Week 2. Homework Post 1.*
I should have probably posted about this sooner.
So in the week 2 class, we had a discussion about our projects in groups. All of us had quite a few interesting ideas of where we’re going with this. A song, illustrations, public experiment, etc.
I also had the chance to get some feedback with regards to my ideas, initially, I wanted to go for the game design idea and the feedback I received in that sense was mostly just to add a bit more flesh to the project and to link it more to the “creative here” theme. I decided that this was not the route that I was going to take and took a different approach to the project which did have a lot more positive feedback and stuck to the theme. This idea was to improve my drawing skills and to eventually create an original piece with me as the creative hero and some sort of style of my own.
I am well-prepared to tackle this project as I am determined to improve my creative skills and become the creative hero that this subject of mine wants me to be.

Creative Dev Log #2
27 September 2019. Week 2. Blog Post 2.
So it’s been made quite clear that I am not allowed to use another subject’s work even though it would be completely different, so I have decided to use this term to learn something new: Drawing.
I’ve come up with an idea for my project - I am going to follow some videos by a Youtuber and well-known artist named “Kienan Lafferty” and study his techniques. Each week I will upload the exercises I have done and finally, at the end of the term in week 8, I will make an original artwork of myself as a creative hero. I see this as a good opportunity to work on my skills as an artist seeing as I’m a film student and I don’t have Illustration or Drawing as subjects in my field of study.
Also, this time I have an image to showcase my progress so far. I attempted some figure drawing in various poses and next week I will attempt to put in more effort and also carry on studying a new part of drawing.

I know I have a lot to work on, but that's part of learning.

Creative Dev Log#1
22 September 2019. Week 1. Blog Post 1.
I was putting a lot of thought into what I would like to do for my creative development this term, and I’ve finally come to a solid conclusion. I’m hoping we can use other subjects’ work in this term, specifically game design.
I would like to blog about the process of creating the game I have to make this term and seeing as the final I will be handing in here won’t be exactly the same as my final hand-in for game design itself, it technically does not count as “self-plagiarism” - as some would say.
That is what I’ll be doing. I’ll be showcasing the process of my growth in game design by designing either a 3D or 2D horror game or a story driven 2D or 3D game in unity. That will be my plan and submission for my creative process in term 3 as game design is an ongoing and growing process to make something good from nothing.
