     vũ had a fiance when they were still alive;  she was someone who they grew up with and whose parents would give the quickest approval.  if they hadn’t arranged it that way,  she would’ve been married off to a man from the main city of huế in order to help her family grow in wealth and status.  on the other hand,  vũ had no intentions of getting married  ( at least,  not yet )  and with no one to help take care of their family while they worked far from home,  it seemed to be the best option for the two of them.  though not a prince or noble by any means,  vũ still worked a respectable job and was close enough to notable persons that her parents approved of their engagement readily enough.  it wasn’t done in the absence of love,  no they loved each other very much,  but in the way that siblings would care for one another.  in time,  when vũ would hopefully make enough money to have their own comfortable independence,  they would come back to divorce her so that she could find someone truly worth her time.  it didn’t exactly work out like that,  however;  vũ was killed three years into their playhouse life and she stayed behind to continue to support their brother and father.  eventually,  they would let her go and she would be wed to someone from a nearby village.  when the time came,  vũ asked to personally guide her to the kings both to catch up  ( despite having watched her entire life unfurl without her knowing )  and to thank her for her kindness to their family.

despite how they act,  hong yen and khoi are celestial beings;  they are in close contact with major gods,  minor deities,  and even their children.  tied so closely with their history and the workings of the nation’s creation and balance,  they are well known and variably liked amongst their peers.  it seems they are rather out of touch,  though,  as they are typically one of the last to know about news and events.
