“you can’t be here now.”

“and why not?” she replied, her voice going low to match his. audra didn’t see any reason why she shouldn’t be here, nor why he could just shoo her away. she straightened up, arching one brow as she stared him down. audra philpott (remind her to change her name asap, because that was NOT the name of a star) moved for no man.
“i’m not going anywhere. so either tell me what’s going on, or just get used to me breathing down your neck and asking annoying questions until you do. honestly, the first option is far better.” right, hopefully that sounded confident enoug.

“it’s just a cut, really.”
five word prompts // accepting@bevieonthelevee
it sure didn’t seem like just a cut. but it was that calm acceptance of the injury from beverly which scared audra more than anything. did she often get cuts or bruises, was that normal? she supposed all kids got slightly beat up on now and then or fell of their bikes, scraping knees and elbows. but this didn’t seem the SAME.
“if you’re sure. but still, let me help you clean it?”
audra wanted to help even if it was just a little. the redhead had been kind to her since her arrival in derry, and that couldn’t be said of everyone. it was also just the right thing to do, wasn’t it?
“it’ll just take a second!”

five word prompts
[inspired by this]
“actually… i just miss you.”
“alright, i’ll leave you alone.”
“and slowly… i was forgotten.”
“and then everything just disappears.”
“and where do i go?”
“anyone could tell from here.”
“are you finishing that or…?”
“are you stupid or stupid?”
“anything, just call me, okay?”
“bitch better have my money.”
“bro… that’s so… not cool…”
“but did you do it?”
“call me now. it’s urgent.”
“can’t you listen to me?”
“cross that. don’t answer that.”
“don’t even think about it.”
“don’t you dare walk away.”
“do it. i dare you.”
“did you think i forgot?”
“eventually… you just move on.”
“even if you still do.”
“everything will fall into place.”
“fight me, you attractive stranger.”
“for once, i need you.”
“for once… i was right.”
“for once… i was wrong.”
“forget i even asked you.”
“forget it. you fucking suck.”
“fuck’s sake, what’s your problem?”
“fuck off. i mean it.”
“give and take. that’s life.”
“great. perfect. nice. fuck this.”
“have you lost your mind?”
“hello? it’s me. i was-”
“hey… that wasn’t so nice.”
“here’s a glass of whatever.”
“how about a hug, hm?”
“how about you make me?”
“i haven’t forgot you yet.”
“i can’t be around you.”
“i don’t need you, really.”
“i don’t need this now.”
“is this your first time?”
“it’s just a cut, really.”
“it wasn’t me, i swear!”
“i said i love you.”
“just don’t fuck it up.”
“just… come back alive, okay?”
“just make sure you’ve eaten.”
“kick his ass for me.”
“killed him? wait, what, literally?”
“life really sucks. feel better.”
“letting go hurts… a lot.”
“let me live, will you?”
“no, i don’t need you.”
“nothing can hurt me now.”
“nothing matters anymore to me.”
“okay it was me… so?”
“people lie all the time.”
“pipe the fuck down, asshole.”
“please, you can’t die now.”
“please don’t leave me alone.”
“quiet. they can hear us.”
“quick! give me your phone!”
“quicker, you freaking piece of-”
“quit it or i’ll bite.”
“quit staring! they’ll notice us!”
“really? do i look stupid?”
“real smooth, tripping over air.”
“rise and shine, sweet thing.”
“rise and fucking shine, motherfucker.”
“seriously? give me a break.”
“so… what are we now?”
“so… did you miss me?”
“so… can we go eat?”
“so… when’s the next flight?”
“so… how did everything go?”
“sometimes, i wish you died.”
“so what? you did it.”
“time passes slower without you.”
“then what do you suggest?”
“the fuck? who are you?”
“then you tell me why.”
“this is not working out.”
“this isn’t what i wanted.”
“this is all a fucking disaster.”
“when did it all happen?”
“who knew you’d be here?”
“why do i even bother?”
“why do i love you?”
“why didn’t you tell me?”
“you’re just… so, so stupid.”
“you can’t be here now.”
“you look like an accident.”
“you really need to go.”
“you know who to call.”
“zero fucks given. next please.”

“the most important things are the hardest things to say.”
“it happened a long time ago… although sometimes it doesn’t seem that long to me.”
“you four-eyed pile of shit!”
“drop dead in a shed, fred.”
“you guys want to go see a dead body?”
“my balls crawled up so high i thought they was trying to get back home.”
“there used to be a bridge, but there was a flood. a long time ago. now there’s just the train-tracks.”
“did you ever hear of such a fucked-up family?”
“he’s a real asshole, ain’t he?”
“man, you shoulda seen your face. oh man, that was priceless. that was really fine. my fucking-a.“
“you know that she thinks wearing glasses would spoil her pretty face.”
“besides, it’s spooky sleeping out at night in the woods.”
“a train-dodge, dig it? what’s trucks after a fuckin’ train-dodge?”
“'i’m gonna kill [him/her/them]. at least give [him/her/them] a fat lip.”
“Go anywhere you want, but don’t go here.”
“he won’t live to be twice the age he is now.”
“i dream about that every now and then.”
“don’t call me any of your mother’s pet names.”
“i don’t shut up, i grow up. and when i look at you i throw up.”
“are you some kinda smartass?”
“okay, that’s it. that’s it, that’s the end, i’m gonna kill you.”
“let’s get away from this asshole before i puke.”
“talk is cheap.”
“hey, if i spoiled your good time, i’m sorry.”
“jesus christ. what a fuckin’ bedtime story.”
“most town names are stupid. you just don’t think so because you’re used to ‘em.“
“when you don’t know what happens next, that’s the end.”
“no, man. don’t say that. don’t even think that.“
“what’s asshole about wanting to be with your friends?”
“i know about you and your folks. they don’t give a shit about you.“
“but kids lose everything unless somebody looks out for them.”
"if your folks are too fucked up to do it then maybe i ought to.”
“but kids lose everything unless somebody looks out for them and if your folks are too fucked up to do it then maybe i ought to.”
“'cause you’ll just be another wise-guy with shit for brains.”
“i know what people think of my family in this town. i know what they think of me and what they expect.”
“all they give a fuck about is whether you behaved yourself in grammar school and what the town thinks of your family.“
“but maybe I’ll try to work myself up. i don’t know if i could do it, but i might try.“
“i want to go someplace where nobody knows me and i don’t have any black marks against me before i start.“
“people drag you down.”
“i say i wanna go look for it, then i’m gonna go look for it! i wanna see it! i wanna see the ghost! i wanna see it.”
“it’s hard to make strangers care about the good things in your life.“
“i was thinking of something else, that’s all.”
“what am i doin’ here, anyway?”
“well what the fuck do you know about this?”
“i’ll give you one chance to just blow away. i don’t give a fuck where. Just make like a tree and leave.”
“kid, whatever your name is, get ready to reach down your fuckin’ throat the next time you need to pick your nose.”
“suck my fat one, you cheap dime-store hood.”
“i’m gonna break both [his/her/their] fuckin’ arms.”
“you’ll go to jayyy-ail.”
“where do you want it, [name]? arm or leg? i can’t pick. you pick for me.”
“but i know how you’re going to come out of this, motherfuck.”
“you dig me?”
“oh, why don’t you go home and fuck your mother some more?”
“stick with me, man.”
“i’m not going to forget it, if that’s what you’re thinking. this is big time, baby.”
“be seeing you.”
“maybe he knew this was gonna happen. what a fuckin’ creepshow, i’m sincere.”
“you lousy rubber chicken.”
“if people ask where we were, we’ll say we went campin’ up on [place name] and got lost.”
“well, seeya in school on wednesday. i think i’m gonna sleep until then.”
“i’m gonna toot home and see if mom’s got me on the ten most wanted list.”
“you bet they’ll tell. but not today or tomorrow, if that’s what you’re worried about. it’ll be a long time before they tell, i think. years, maybe.”
“i didn’t think of it just like that. you see through people, [name].”
“i’m never gonna get out of this town.”
“don’t let me see you around, dipshit.”
“do you think they will respect you? they will laugh and call you stupid-fool.”
“i didn’t know them. really.”
“i’m sorry i couldn’t stay with you, [name], but i had pies in the oven.”
“friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant, did you ever notice that?”
“if you go out alone you’re a hero. take somebody else with you and you’re dogpiss.”
“fuck gerunds.”
“if he had drowned, that part of me would have drowned with him, i think.”
“i drove out of town, parked, and cried for [him/her/them]. cried for damn near half an hour, i guess.”
“a lot of the critics think what i write is shit.”
“my story sounds so much like a fairytale that it’s fucking absurd.”
“i wonder if there is really any point in what i’m doing.”

bevieonthelevee:
Derry was a strange place, and people always seemed to come and go. There were definitely families that were up and leaving, running scared (and perhaps wisely) because of the evil currently taking children. But others still were actually coming to Derry, were actually preparing to build a life for themselves and their families on Derry ground. That astounded Beverly.
She hadn’t seen the new girl yet, not until when they only inches away from each other. A slight smile passed over Beverly’s features as she stepped back, though it faded a little as she remembered the people the new kid hung out with. She’d been spotted with GRETA of all people, and it seemed Greta’s only joy in life was taking the joy out of Beverly’s. But all the same, the new kid seemed… almost relaxed, and was talking quite normally to her.
Bev’s eyes flickered to the fortune teller stall at the fair, and again her lips quirked up into a smile. Shaking her head, she looked over at the new kid and replied, “Not today. I don’t believe in that kind of thing. I’d rather make my own future, you know?” This was perhaps only partly true. Beverly would have found it reassuring to hear a fortune teller state she was going to live a happy life, even if it wasn’t true. It’d be nice to know she’d live past 13. “You just come out from that tent though? You get a good fortune, newbie? I’d hope so.”
audra supposed it was only fair and sensible for beverly to seem... guarded. that soft fading of her smile didn’t go unnoticed by audra - and she wasn’t sure how to take it. well, audra was nothing if not overly confident and very little could hold her back. and so, she soldiered on.
“sure, i guess i get that. still, it’s amusing.” she glanced behind her, looking over towards the stall. a soft hum and then a smirk passing over audra’s features as she added, “probably for the best. with the thickness of her glasses i don’t think she could see her hand in front of her face let alone the future.”
oh, but audra wanted to believe, she really did. but she kept that inside and listened as beverly continued. at least audra didn’t think greta was likely to show again, that was one good thing. “i got a good reading. destined for stardom don’t you know?” there was a pause, and then she added, “it’s audra, by the way. it’s audra philpott. i guess new kid works as well but...” she hated always being the new kid.

she wasn’t entirely sure where the others had gone, they had forgotten her clearly remembered something else they had to do, and so greta and her followers had disappeared after trying out the fortune teller stand. did audra believe in fortune tellers? even she couldn’t yet answer that, but she had been quietly delighted to hear the fortune teller say there was something GREAT in her future.
as audra looked around for the ‘friends’ she had made upon arrival in derry only a week or so before, she stumbled upon someone with hair as bright and fiery as her own. she had yet to actually speak to beverly marsh but oh she had heard so many things about her - so many rumours followed this young girl it was unbelievable. audra had never actually heard things quite like it at any other school. she blinked, realised she had been staring and a smile passed over her features.
“hi. so, are you here to try out the fortune teller as well? you’d probably get better fortunes from inside a cookie.”
