Holidays always implies a break, or spending time around family or people, so of course Aulus is not going to want to be involved with any of that nonsense. There’s nothing that he celebrates on his own, but if he’s obligated to make an appearance at an official Empire celebration he’s sure to attend.

“Worse?” the vessel repeated with a frown, reaching up to rub at his forehead and carefully easing himself into a sitting position. His head was pounding but as soon as he was sat up and not moving, the pain eased off a bit. “Alcohol’s supposed to dull the pain, what are you talking about?”

The beep may not have been very loud but it was piercing for the pained Miqo’te who dropped his head into his hands with a groan, completely unaware of the restraints fitted to the side of the table he was laying on. Wasn’t very comfortable, now that he thought about it. At least it wasn’t too bright.

“You must have something I can take for the pain, right? Then I can be on my way.”

“Oh, going so soon? But you just got here.” Pointedly ignoring the request for painkillers, he wandered over to the machine, looking down at a readout. “What  the-” His head snapped up to look at the exam table. It was just an initial reading for a baseline, but it made no sense...

“...Why would you leave when you have gotten much, much more interesting?” Fine, he thought to himself, at least a painkiller might dull his senses enough to keep him still. Aulus went to a shelf and pulled down a small bottle, taking it back to the table. “Here, drink this.” And of course he wasn’t going to tell him what it was, or how horrible it tasted.

Head pounding, he squinted against the pain to take in his surroundings, trying not to frown when the voice spoke up because it didn’t help the headache. He didn’t recognise the voice, tried to sit up to lay eyes on the speaker only to find that movement made his head pound something fierce, making his vision blur.

“Hey uh… Are you the chirurgeon? Can I trouble you for something to ease the headache?”

And where in the hell was he? Where had he been taken? He must have fallen on his damn head or something because it hurt to think, to cast his mind back to how he’d lost consciousness. Aether related perhaps? He was a little sensitive to that…

“Mug of mead wouldn’t go amiss either…”

“Mm, no. No alcohol for you, my friend.” Aulus chuckled as he circled the exam table. “It would only make the pain worse.” His eyes flit to the restraints hanging off the table. What a fool he had been, thinking this subject would be under for far longer. He made a mental note to up the dose in the tranquilizer. 

“It will pass. It was a good thing I was there.” A beep came from the gloom, the lights on a machine coming on. Ah, he thought, the readings were done.

“Ugh, my head. What happened to me?”

“Oh. You’re awake.” The voice came from the gloom. Aulus stepped into the light, looking down. “Best you stay still. That was a nasty spill you took.” He said with a smirk. It may or may not have been his doing, but he wasn’t going to let his...guest know that.

Coffee. Always coffee. If there isn’t a full pot of coffee hot and ready for him, there’s something wrong. He takes it black.

As for food, he doesn’t eat much as he tends to forget to at all. It doesn’t take much for him to get full and he detests sweets.
