since it’s the season and i’m listening to carols already… here are some christmas plots to inspire you! i’ll probably add more to this as the season goes on — so watch this space.
— give me something based off last christmas by wham!! where muse a gave muse b the sweetest most romantic gift the year before and muse b just wasn’t here for it. flash forward to this year and they’re back in the same place they were the year before, maybe a friends christmas party, and in the dim lights muse b finally see muse a in the light they didn’t last year… and has to try and win them over.
— holiday romance where muse a and muse b have both gone on vacation for the christmas season. and they’re the are on a beach somewhere, thinking about snow while they tan, not from the same place at all. but they bond over sitting by the plastic christmas tree in the hotel lobby on christmas eve. give me the angst of the day after christmas when they’re both going to their respective home cities and don’t know how to say goodbye to their fleeting romance.
— this is probably cliche but give me a plot where muse a is nine months pregnant on christmas eve and is all alone. but muse b sees her across the aisle in the grocery store and wishes her a merry christmas… only for her to go into labour two seconds later. she’s all alone so muse b takes her to the hospital and somehow can’t leave her side. give me them falling in love in the hours it takes for it to tick over to christmas morning. doctors calling muse b her partner and both of them just laughing and never denying it. watching an old christmas movie while they hold hands through her contractions. muse b being there when the baby is born and neither of them knowing how to say goodbye, so they come up with excuses for muse b to stay.
— a plot where muse a is outside having a snowball fight with their whole family and accidentally hits muse b, an innocent walker by. in christmas spirit, muse b throws a snowball back and it’s a sudden all out war. give me everyone getting too cold and muse a inviting muse b in for hot chocolate and it starting from there.
— office christmas party! there’s so many office party plots. give me muse a flirting with santa and sitting in his lap and it turning into something far beyond appropriate. or give me muse a and muse who’ve been dancing around their feelings all year drinking too much eggnog and just falling into each other while the whole office lets out a sigh of relief. give me a muse who hates the holiday season being swayed into liking christmas by a muse who sits and explains the magic to them until they just can’t deny the sparkle in the lights.
— muse a taking their kid to see santa at the mall. their first christmas all on their own. and muse b is the photographer. they’re so patient while the kid sits and talks to santa, so muse a strikes up a conversation and somehow they walk away with numbers in each of their phones and a winking santa in the background.
— a plot where muse a and muse b broke up just before christmas! but despite that, muse b can’t bring themselves to tell their parents they split, so they ask muse a to come to christmas dinner anyway. give me the awkward pretending to still be together until all of a sudden it isn’t awkward at all and all they want for christmas is each other back.
— non christmas celebrating plots! whether it’s for religious reasons or just because they don’t buy into the holiday, give me two muses who meet just because they’re avoiding everything christmas themed and bond over it. spending everyone elses christmas eve watching old b-grade horror films and eating their favourite meals. laughing at the carol-ers getting cold out on the streets and staying inside and just doing their own thing.
— snowed in! give me muse a and muse b who were both too late to leave their college dorm and get snowed in. wanna make it better? they don’t like each other. and suddenly they’re stuck, the only two people left in the building and they have to make nice to have any kind of christmas that isn’t just them stuck alone. maybe they make each other makeshift gifts out of stuff that’s just laying around, make a fake christmas dinner out of anything they can find in the kitchen and build a christmas tree out of sheets of paper sticky-taped onto a window. it getting late and them watching old christmas movies on a shitty tv under too many blankets with hot chocolates and giving in and admitting that they like each other enough for a cuddle…….
— i took my baby sibling out for a walk to see the christmas lights and now they’re feeding your dog carrots because it’s got antlers on. muse a apologising and explaining that they had no idea that three year olds would just hide stuff in their pockets and muse b dropping to their knees and explaining that the reindeer is thankful for all the energy.
— australian christmas! it’s hot and muse a and muse b are both at the beach. muse a’s beach umbrella takes off with tinsel and everything attached so muse b catches it and brings it back. muse a is so thankful that they have to offer muse b a drink and a sit down with their family.
— accidental matching ugly christmas sweaters!! muse a and muse b are at a party hosted by a mutual friend and somehow end up in the same hideous holiday sweater. they spend the whole night being asked about it by everyone until they don’t have a choice but to talk to each other. cue them realising that they have the same taste in almost everything, not just hideous sweaters.
— last minute christmas shopping!!!!!!!! muse a and muse b are both shopping far too late on christmas eve. and as muse a lets out a relieved sigh and reaches for the last doll that their sibling wanted, so does muse b. give me the fight in the middle of the store and them bargaining with each other until muse a says they can have the doll if they’re willing to write a letter to their sibling from santa to explain just why he couldn’t give it to their sibling. only muse b doesn’t just write the note, they also write their number at the bottom. and muse a doesn’t catch it in time — so the next day muse b is inundated with calls where they have to be santa until muse a figures out why their little sibling has their phone.

poppy watched with a creased brow as gabriel rolled his eyes at her again, an almost defeated sigh falling from her lips as she kicked his boot with her toes lightly. “i’ve always been that person. you’ve never been that person. i just asked a question, i didn’t think it’d get your knickers in a twist.” poppy replied, chewing on her bottom lip absently as she ran her fingers through her long blonde hair.
“you’re not that person with me though.” gabriel’s lips curved into an almost smirk as he kicked poppy back, trying to ease the tension that had fallen around them from his silence. “okay, fine, you want serious — i’ll give you serious.” leaning himself forwards in his chair, he met her wide eyes in a way he had a hundred times before, trying to smooth the look off his face before he spoke. “what’s your question again, love?”

elliot had been forced to make himself good at hiding his emotions. he'd grown up learning to turn smiles into frowns, and frowns into looks of indifference. it was something that he'd always needed around his father and the people he worked with, something that he knew he was going to need more than anything as he stepped into the family business. but the second he saw bailey's face across the room, he completely forgot how to look anything but shocked. his eyes followed her without him thinking about it, his body curling around the walls of the room to get even an inch closer to her as his fingers settled on the knife tucked into his belt loops. he had no idea how they'd ended up in the same place after so many months apart, but he wasn't willing to take any chances.
the man couldn't break their stare as smoke passed her lips. even the small space between them seemed like too much, he wanted to be closer, to see if the months apart had forced her too change in more ways than just the cigarette hanging between her fingers. and then she was moving, elliot's feet carrying him after her before she'd even indicated to the stairs. growing up, they'd always been perfect at trailing after each other, and now didn't seem to be any different. he climbed up to the second floor of the house without anyone seeming to notice that they'd gone, his fingers still wrapped around the handle of the blade he'd hastily grabbed that morning. he pulled it free of his belt loops as he followed behind bailey's body into an empty room stepping behind her and looping his arm around her waist. "what the fuck are you doing here?"

bailey’s mind was rushing a million miles an hour as she caught sight of the smirk being thrown her way, the familiarity of elliot’s face in a crowd after so many months of being on her own stiring up unfamiliar emotions in her gut. she took a step forward on pure instinct, her little sister seemingly appearing out of nowhere and grabbing at her wrists tightly. "let go of me.“ bailey breathed as she turned to meet her sisters eyes, nodding her head in silent understanding before tugging her arm free harshly. she was sick of being grabbed, pushed and pulled in the direction everyone else thought she should go. once, just once, she wanted to pick her own direction and deal with the fallout on her own. bailey wasn’t oblivious to the potential fight she was about to walk into, wasn’t oblivious to the fact that with one touch to elliot’s hand she could singlehandedly start a full blown war between their families. she knew what she was doing was the wrong thing, and yet she couldn’t stop her feet from carrying her across the room.
the gun tucked in the waistband of her jeans felt as though it were burning through her skin and down to her bones, reminding her that these were far from normal circumstances.bailey couldn’t pin point what it was that had her stopping in her tracks and reaching for a cigarette, lighting it without missing a beat and exhaling smoke into the room around them. her eyes never left him as he moved through the room, her back leaning against a wall as they finally made eye contact again. a small smile tugged onto her face as she took drag after drag of her cigarette just so that she had something to do with her hands, her bottom lip caught between her teeth as she nodded towards the staircase that led to the empty bedrooms upstairs. it was a stupid move, bailey mentally preparing for a roll of the eyes or to watch him merely walk out of the house. she took deliberate steps towards the staircase, not daring to turn back around and see if he was following her or not.

“if you were capable of a normal, emotional conversation - i wouldn’t have to.”
“since when is eye rolling not an emotion?” to emphasise his point, gabe rolled his eyes quickly, immediately breaking their stare and looking back down at the ripped knees of his jeans. “why do we even need to have an emotional conversation? you’ve never been that person.”

there wasn’t anything that ever compared to seeing lola smile, especially when it was because of him. noah’s heart had made itself a home in the back of his throat, every nerve ending in his body seemingly snapping to life as he let out a slow breath and took in the sight of her. it didn’t quite make sense that each and every time she somehow managed to get more beautiful, her smile brightening just that little bit more each time he saw her. his brow pulled together at the sight of tears trickling their way down her cheeks, his whole body relaxing as she let out a laugh that silently let him know they weren’t unhappy tears. a soft smile tugged onto his lips at her words, the genuine honesty and emotion behind them causing waves after waves of butterflies to roll through his gut.
“i’m right here, love.” he reminded her, voice more gentle than he’d ever heard it before. noah knew what everyone was going to say, what they were going to keep saying about the distance between them, but the look on her face made it all worth it. it didn’t matter that there was an ocean between them - not when she was smiling at him with pure genuine happiness all over her sweet face. “i wish i could see you too.” he promised, smile softening as he fought back the urge to reach out and brush his fingers across the phone screen. “my girl. god, you look so good.” noah chuckled at himself, rolling his eyes as he pulled out a cigarette, lighting it without missing a beat in hopes of easing the overwhelming rush of emotions.
in the weeks since she'd first met noah, lola had never been quiet about how frustrating the distance was. even when they were skirting around whatever it was they were doing, she didn't bother hiding just how annoyed she was that there was an ocean keeping them apart. but for a few moments, the frustration faded out of her system. as much as she wanted to be able to hold the man smiling at her, it felt like enough to just be looking at him. she knew that she'd wait for him, and as noah's words hit her ears, she knew he'd wait too.
"your girl. i like that." another bout of soft laughs passed her lips as her fingers ran over her cheeks, wiping the tears off her face and promising herself she wasn't going to cry again. lola was as near silent as she could be as watched noah light another cigarette, taking in the ease that he had with every movement. "you smoke too much. and since you're my guy i need you to stop. need you around for as long as possible." the blonde had never been the type to be demanding in a relationship, but she knew that there wasn't anything she had to hide with noah. with all of the distance between them, hiding anything never seemed like an option and somehow he'd been just as accepting of all of her and she was of him. "is it super late or super early for you? i can never remember?"

once the band aid was placed on his nose finn made a point of putting a little distance between their bodies, nowhere near used to having anyone standing as close to him as she was now. he let out a slow breath as she moved towards his sketches, immediately feeling a sense of dread. he kept a lot of himself private, but the fact that he sketched every little emotion he felt was the one thing that no one knew. he cleared his throat, nodding his head and picking up his favorite sketchbook and handing it over to her without any hesitation. the move caught him off guard, not really sure why he was doing what he was doing.
guilt immediately flooded his system when she told him what was inside the sketchbook that he had bled all over, flinching for the first time all night as he immediately moved to shuffle through the books on the coffee table. he found an empty one fairly easily, holding it out to her without missing a beat and letting the first genuine smile of the night tug its way onto her face. "i’m really sorry. i won’t stop feeling shitty about this unless you take it.” he chuckled quietly, all but forcing the book into her hands before taking a long sip from his beer and looking up to meet her eyes. “whats your book about?” he asked curiously, opening a window and taking a seat on the couch as he offered her a cigarette, lighting his own with his free hand.
the second that eli started slipping through the filled pages of the notebook in her hand, she had a second one being pushed in her direction. she dragged her eyes away from the black and white pages to meet finn's eyes, nodding as he spoke. "you don't need to feel guilty, but i'll take it." her head nodded for a second before her eyes fell back to his sketches, able to feel emotions coming from the stranger that she struggled to find within herself. she wasn't sure if it was jealousy that she was feeling as the clear drawings filled her mind, the emotions so pure in every way.
"it's about everything. how much of a dick do i sound like if i just say the human condition?" she followed his movements to the couch, holding both notebooks under her arm as she flipped through her back for her own. she took the cigarette and lighter from his fingers as she slid her own book to him, avoiding his eyes as she lit the cigarette. "i quit a year ago, so this has to stay between us." the instant relaxation from the nicotine in her lungs was obvious, eliza almost falling back into the couch. for a few moments she took in the rest of the man's flat, trying to figure out who her secret defender was before she was ushered out of the door.

starter for @yourpaljughead based off this
gabriel knew he wasn’t doing well. his grades might not have reflected just how bad his first year of university was going, but he could feel it in his bones. everything felt heavy, whether it was the weight of being isolated for the first time, the hangover that he could never seem to shake, or his books being so heavy he watched them fall through his backpack the second he got back to his dorm building. but that’s where he was, weight holding him down while his books gathered dirt from the floor.
he knew that he needed to get up. rushing through shoving his books back into the ruined bag, the brunette could feel his knees getting carpet burnt through his old jeans. for a few seconds he was sure that he must have finally figured everything out, the backpack staying together as he climbed to his feet. long legs had barely carried him a step before someone was knocking into him, a rushed apology leaving the strangers lips as his books fell right back to the floor.
with a long sigh, gabe dropped to the floor, screwing his eyes shut, and ignoring the sound of people entering the building and walking past his extended legs. his head leant back on the wall within minutes, the man deciding that if sleep found him there on the floor, surrounded by books that had cost his parents more than his student loan paid, then he didn’t have a choice but to try and give into it.

historically, there weren’t a lot of things that made elliot feel actually stupid. after so many years of making his own choices no matter the consequences, he didn’t have it in him anymore. but even he knew he’d fucked up this time. his long fingers extended to accept another glass of wine from his mother, knowing that there was no way he’d survive the family dinner without it.
when he’d first walked through the door to his family home, he’d barely understood the scene playing out in front of him. for a second he was sure that it was a late side affect from all the drugs he’d done in his early twenties, something coming back to haunt him years after the fact. but then it had settled it. she was here. she’d been the first woman he’d ever thought he’d love. a short affair that had been hidden behind hotel room doors for a weekend. but it had been the kind of weekend that stuck under his skin for years after, the lack of her number in his phone always making his head shake with regret when he pressed his lips against someone who didn’t make him feel half of what she had.
but there she was. walking around elliot’s family home like she half owned it. and the giant rock on her finger and his older brothers arm around her waist only proved it more. she almost did half own it. he finished his fresh glass of wine in less than a sip, excusing himself from the table with his cigarettes in his hand and the front door in his eye line.

gabe’s eyes rolled despite himself the second his hair is being pushed off his face, his eyes only stopping to fall on her face. calling his hair precious always made him feel like a dick, and he knew that was exactly why luna tried to push his buttons about it. hair was just hair after all, he could certainly live without it. but he couldn’t think of a day that would be worth anything if the blonde stopped teasing him. it was the kind of thing he never took from anyone, too closed off for people to even know where his buttons were, but the second she tried, his eyes would roll and minutes of soft laughs would roll off his tongue. “maybe you need a haircut. i could go at it with scissors like i did in primary, if you’d let me.”
↳ ❝ All I wanna hear her say is ‘are you mine?’ ❞ | based on this meme
slender fingers extend to brush off the strand of hair standing in the way of his features, a movement that comes so naturally that it surprises her own self. “you need a haircut, mister.” she teases him, knowing he won’t stand for the idea of someone hacking off the hair he spent so long trying to grow out. this is the epitome of their friendship — playful banter and poking fun at each other, pushing each other’s buttons and being affectionate with each other all the while. it’s why she never ventures to explore anything further with him, content to stay in this little bubble they’ve created. “are you sober right now?” shay asked, though it was more amused and gentle than judging in any way. “or was that a quote from a film that i’m supposed to have seen?”
“i’m always sober.” even elliot wasn’t completely unaware of the almost slur in his words, still nodding his head as shay spoke. “why don’t you just believe that kids can be government operatives? haven’t you seen stranger things? all those kids are up to something.”

“usually, no it isn’t.” eli was quick to follow millie’s movements, curling her legs under her body and reaching for her wine glass. “but if these people don’t think i’m cool then i’ll never manage to get my comics anywhere”
