The Kings men, chapter three

"Neil hesitated, then set the bag on Matt's bed and struggled out of his shirt. It was getting a little easier every day, but it hurt when he raised his arms too high and when he twisted he felt the pull at his stitches. He got his shirt over his head and to his elbows before Andrew got tired of watching him struggle and tugged the shirt loose. Andrew tossed it off to one side and didn't look to see where it landed. He was more interested in the scars and bruises covering Neil's front."

This chapter holds so many great passages I might draw another one from it asp. But in this one there was something that felt very real, a mix of pain and trust and interest and discovery, and even desire maybe.

it is so insane to me that neil does fully just stop running for andrew. like he doesn't run from their relationship. he doesn't, actually never, runs away from what they mean to eachother even when andrew is enforcing the whole "this is nothing" thing. he just decides right after that first kiss that this is it for him and then as he's being kidnapped to his long awaited death he gives neil josten away while thinking about andrew's lips like whattttttt. whatttttttttt. the runner who depended on running for 8 years of his do or die life ignoring the countdown TO THE END OF HIS LIFE because he was too busy kissing you like 😐🔫

I feel like Jean and Jeremy are the kind of couple that everyone close to them thought was dating way before they actually were. The way they act around each other with so much care and love, even maybe small lingering touches. Always cautious not to make a mistake and hurt the other one. So when they hopefully finally get together and want to tell their friends they are met with utter confusion. Turns out they thought jerejean just needed more time to open up about it and had been dating for weeks if not months when in reality they just started dating last night after a heartfelt confession.

there's something about the fact that neil barely remembers his time at evermore and doesn't really talk about it and the fact that he just knows it was horrific and the fact that when wymack picked him up from the airport he looked beaten halfway to death and the fact that he was waterboarded and tortured so fucking badly and we only find out about it from jean's pov and the fact that jean describes him in the car ride to the airport "violently disassociating from riko's farewell party" and the fact that andrew asks jean "did grayson ever touch neil?" and the fact that no, grayson didn't, but if neil had been raped or sa'd in the nest he probably wouldn't even know it something about it just makes me want to curl into a ball and die.

jerejean fic where jean, the walking diaster he is, tries to drop heavy hints about his feelings for jeremy and one day just says "i want a boyfriend" while making intense eye contact and jeremy, determined to be cool about this, is like "ok sure let's make that happen for you, shouldn't be too hard, anyone would be lucky to have you" before he starts setting jean up on dates (with men he personally vetted and cheerfully threatened), so jean goes on these dates (and has a miserable time) while jeremy sits at home, stewing and seething in jealousy, until one day after jean has stated multiple times that he has hated all of these dates, jeremy is like "well if you just want a nice date, i can take you on one of those" and jean is thinking ah finally he gets it, except jeremy does not, and genuinely just takes him on a really nice date that jean does enjoy, then sets him up with someone else after giving the guy pointers on the proper way to treat jean to a nice date (literally gives a roadmap to this random man on how to make sure jean enjoys himself) and is subsequently bamboozled when jean returns after the date in a sour mood. jeremy is just ??? about it, and jean says "i do not like any of these men jeremy 😒" in a very pointed tone, bc surely jeremy will get it then, since the only man jean did like was jeremy, but nope, jeremy is still confused like "oh well what's your type then" and jean just stares at him before sighing wistfully and saying "the hopeless cases, apparently" which tracks bc of the renee and kevin of it all, and anyway, this carries on for months before there's ever a resolution.

aftg but neil is genuinely wholeheartedly under the impression that andrew and kevin are boyfriends. which is basically just the first book and half of the second but i mean we let him keep that energy the whole way through. andrew says he'd blow him and neil is like ??? pretty sure kevin would take issue with that??? and andrew, thinking neil is referencing their deal, is like ??? kevin doesn't care what i do when im away from him??? and neil is like ??? but you're always with him when im around??? and andrew is like ??? i would tell him to go away??? and neil is like ??? i don't think you should do that??? and andrew is like ??? u mean u want him to watch??? and neil is like ??? i didn't agree to this but if i was going to then yes, im not going to make you send kevin away??? and anyway this is how both andrew and neil operate under the assumption that the other is angling to enter a throuple with one another and kevin day and kevin has no clue about any of this

I feel like we gloss over Andrew's trauma around being put on his drugs and misdiagnosed because it wasn't that he was just not taken seriously when he tried to warn others about his sexual abuse (I dont remember if he ever said anything as warning about any one other than Drake but still) but also not taken seriously medically as well. because its never "why did he react like that? why does he care so little about his own safety? those are major signs of depression." its always ever "he did this, that was disturbing. so he must a psychopath and we are going to claim he is a monster"

Wonder if Jeremy asks himself, late at night, “If she loses me, maybe then she will see.” Just like he did when she ignored Noah’s mental health. Maybe if she lost one more son, then she will see. A nasty thought, but a thought that does come. A thought he always pushes in the depths of his mind because he knows the answer.
