Season finale!
More webcomic chapters should end with one of the characters telling you to go to hell, in my opinion.

Anyway, The Automan’s Daughter chapter 9 is complete! Perfect time to dive in, before we go on hiatus.

I feel bad that crunch time at my day job has caused the comic’s update schedule to slow to a crawl. Apologies, everyone! On the plus side, I did manage to post this page, where for some reason everyone is heatedly gesticulating with one arm.

Hello, may I know where I can see the short film of "The Ottoman" or is it still in production?
It’s currently in post-production. Music and sound design work is slated for next year, and we hope it’ll start appearing in film festivals and online after that.

Hello, I'm making a magazine for a university project. I have a few questions:
What inspired you to make comics?
How were you inspired to make “The Automan’s Daughter”?
Apart from “The Automan’s Daughter”, do you plan to do more new stories?
Are you thinking about translating your comics into other languages to attract more audiences?
Have you participated in projects that are inside and/or outside of Hiveworks?
How do you feel that your comics are well received by the public?
Growing up in Montréal, Québec, I read a lot of Belgian and French comics, stuff like “The Adventures of Tintin” and “Heavy Metal.” As I got older, I developed an appreciation for Fantagraphics books like “Love & Rockets” and “Eightball.” Now that I’m making my own comics, I suppose I’m attempting to combine all the things I loved about the works I grew up on.
The Automan’s Daughter is a spin-off of an animated short I’ve been working on for almost a decade or so. The two works share the same alternate-historical world-building and a lot of the same characters.
I believe it’s important to always be chasing your next big project, so I do have other stories in the works. Some would be set in the same universe as The Automan’s Daughter, while others would be completely different in terms of genre and tone.
I’d love to see my stories translated, although first I’d probably need to know more about whether folks in different countries would be interested. Not all work appeals to all cultures. (I’d like to think people in France would appreciate the comic, at least…)
I haven’t done any comics outside of Hiveworks, although most of my other art projects, like the animated short, and my limited-run podcast, were done independently.
I can tell from the comments that the comic’s readers are enjoying what I’m putting out there. But I get the sense that my audience is quite small. That said, that’s not unusual, for webcomics.

I'll level with you guys—warping and tracing that tattoo until it looked right took way longer than drawing the mecha-tank.

Old, wet man
Tumblr media
According to the comic’s visitor logs, the two things readers most want to see are “a tank, but with legs” and “old, wet man.” So, this one's for you, I guess! I should probably double-check those logs.
