Hotels: How to incorporate the use of QR codes to improve your services
QR Codes have been used for more than 20 years, with the new normalcy in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, they have proved their value. The tourism sector realizes how these codes can improve their services. A good example is how hotels are starting to use them for their guests, proving the great use of technology. Keep reading to find out more!
A hotel in Bogota joins the use of QR codes
Colombia is an attractive country for tourism, and as a tourist, you can find so many good places to stay. But with the new normalcy, every hotel needs to fulfill the biosecurity rules, just like the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Bogota. The hotel is opening its door again after the mandatory quarantine is put in place on March 19th.
There are so many changes inside the hotel as Iris Delgado, General Manager, explained to La Republica newspaper that one of the biggest changes was the new laminate flooring when the floors were matted. This will facilitate better cleaning and more health security.
Another great point and the main reason behind this note is the use of QR codes for different aspects inside the Marriott. Using them in the rooms to request the products that were before within the minibar service, to products such as hairdryers, coffee machines, and other similar appliances. After scanning the code, a catalog will be displayed. That way, the guest can choose what they need.
The restaurant is pretty similar to the new services. In every table, the commensals can find a QR Code that, after the scanning, will present the menu of the different dishes that are being offered for the meals, from breakfast to dinner. The other security measures are using biosecurity bags to keep face masks safe that way. There are no chances of contamination, and every guest can feel safe at the hotel.
These are just a few of the great changes that every hotel around the world is doing to adapt to the new normalcy. But actually, hotels are great places for QR Codes technologies.
The age of technology
There are many ways to use QR Codes in hotels or inns to present a better service to every guest. Check out how to proceed with them!
- Room service or reservations: one of the greatest services at hotels and inns is the room services. With a QR Code in every room, guests can check the menu and make their request. Also, they can proceed with different reservations from tables at the restaurant to trips and other activities.
- Be in touch with reception: a QR code can put every guest in touch with the reception through an SMS or WhatsApp, without saving the number on their phones.
- Restaurant menus: as the Marriott in Bogota is doing, putting a QR Code in the restaurant's tables can be an excellent way to eliminate the menu's physical copies.
- Make payments: with QR Codes, payments can be made easily with just a scan and the correct app, so every expense that the guest has at the hotel can be paid with a code.
Hotel room directory: another great way to use code is to show the guest the guide and schedule of the hotel's different activities. This can be demonstrated with a simple but detailed site or a PDF file that the guest can download to their devices.
- Digital kiosk: hotels and inns always offer magazines, newspapers, and books as part of the room service and in the waiting and dining area. But with the new normalcy, this would be better to have it in digital. A QR Code can present the digital kiosk and the catalog of choosing to enjoy good reading.
- Opinion: with a QR Code, the hotel or inn can give the guest a form to fill the guest's experience during their stay. This form can be done with Google or other apps, but it would be displayed after the scan.
These are just a few of the many options used in hotels, inns, or any other tourism service with QR Codes. They are definitely what many businesses are looking for in the middle of the adaptation to a new normalcy. Keep in touch with MyQRBC to find out more amazing news of these codes, and do not forget to follow us on our social media.

¡Vamos a ello!

With the app and QR Codes, clients will be able to pay without touching anything, all with the use of their smartphones. They are scanning the QR Code that is generated with dataphones of many establishments in the country.
In the App, the client must enter the Transaction module, then choose the QR Aval from the menu, and select the QR Shopping function, which is the new feature of the app. Then the client must scan the code that the Dataphone is showing. After that scan is finished, the client can select the credit card, the number of installments, and complete the payment.

China implements QR codes for the health area
Qr Codes are taking the spotlight! One of the most significant areas that are starting to understand all their benefits is healthcare services. China implements QR codes for its healthcare, and to help the citizens. One good example it's the eastern city of Hangzhou, where the QR codes have been used for different health services. Keep reading to find out more!
QR codes improve healthcare services
Using QR codes can improve communication, transparency, and information between providers, caregivers, and care recipients. This technology can be an incredible tool, especially for data and information. Hospitals and other services are starting to understand this. So, how can healthcare use QR codes? Easy, with these methods:
Identification: to help with patients' medical data and records.
Marketing: to show information about the hospital's services and resources, including the human one.
Drug safety: to have transparency and authenticity with drugs and medicines, through packages and brochures.
Medical equipment: to help to install and showing functions of medical equipment that will help with tests and to the effective delivery of care.
Health tracking: codes can be used to track patients' health status. They can alert the closest hospital or doctor about the patient's condition, or if they leave their houses.
Asset and inventory tracking: assets and inventory are highly expensive for any hospital, so codes can help to track all of them and how they have been used throughout the day, only by scanning the code.
Procedure information for patients: codes can facilitate understanding from patients, caregivers can explain so much, but sometimes using their own devices can help patients to understand the treatment or care that they received altogether.
Many healthcare systems and services still used traditional methods to keep track and record of procedures and patients, but that is changing with technology and with QR Codes. An excellent example of that is observing how China implements QR codes for healthcare services.
China improves its medical services thanks to the implementation of QR codes
China implements QR codes in Hangzhou to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The Asian country was the first one to suffer from the virus, with many contagious and deaths. But they are improving their medical and healthcare services, using technology such as QR Codes. The company Ant Financial is the major player in this implementation, with the mobile app Alipay. The codes can be connected to the citizen's sanitize or social security cards to facilitate registers and the search for medicines.
These codes are facilitating processes that could take hours. Patients no longer need to carry their records on paper. With just one QR code, they can check in on hospitals, simplifying processes, and granting treatment quickly.
According to Ant Financial, Hangzhou was the first one. Still, more than 100 cities are already using the codes to control the covid-19 outbreak better and helping with returning to work and daily activities. Another great point in using QR Codes is the contactless methods of scanning. That way, citizens can reduce the risk of contagion and take precautions.
If China implements QR Codes for its healthcare and medical services, we can expect that soon, other countries, not just in Asia but globally, start to use the codes as a great way to keep records and track patients and prevent more contagious diseases.

Railway tickets with QR codes will be enabled in India
Nowadays, people around the world are looking for ways to proceed with daily activities in a contactless way. All these methods are appearing in the middle of the fight against COVID-19. Every day you can find more and more news about the use of QR Codes because they are the best method for this. India is taking them for railway tickets, to protect passengers and staff, keep reading to know more!
In India, tickets will be provided without contact
The Asian country has started to introduce a new contactless ticketing system with QR Codes. This system allows passengers to buy their tickets online or in the stations, no matter the method the passenger will receive a link on their mobile phone, this link will redirect them to a QR Code that later can be scanned with handheld devices or smartphones.
The Board Chairman V. K. Yadav explained that a pilot project is taking place at Prayagraj Junction of North Central Railway. This will have some similarities with the check-in that must be done in airports; all the passengers that enter the station must scan the QR Code during their check-in.
This system will let you know the contact details of every passenger, but also show that ticket examiners don't need to touch the ticket to check its integrity and information. That way, passengers and examiners will no longer need to touch railway tickets, preventing exposure among the people using the transportation system.
The future for the railway ticket system
According to Yadav, even when more than 80% of the travelers book tickets online, there are no plans to go completely paperless, but this is a pilot project not only to test the system but also the reception from passengers and staff.
There are also plans to have check-in counters to minimize the exposure of the staff to the travelers, and to have better control of the passengers. This system is also perfect for the checking-staff on board because it allows them to have all the information of the passengers, just with scanning the railway ticket at the check-in counters.
India is taking significant methods to fight the virus and protect its citizens. The change with the railway tickets is just one step, not only to prevent more exposures, but also a way to integrate technological resources for its services.

Learn the Benefits of QR Codes in Print Marketing Materials
The Print Marketing Materials are the best and traditional way to design a marketing strategy for your business. They are presented in different formats like brochures, flyers, stickers, stationery, magazines, newspaper ads, poster ads, billboard ads, and so much more. The main point here is to print the information, to sell and promote a brand with a product or service.
Even when the future is presenting a world without printed things, the print marketing materials still maintain their power. They can have many benefits for businesses, for example, people can remember the brand easily from print material, then from their social media, this is because many people still prefer to read a magazine or newspaper than their digital version; furthermore, people trust the ads displayed on those media, than the digital ones.
So the goal today for businesses is to combine print and digital material. The first ones are always good to display brand awareness; meanwhile, the digital is good to engage the user that already knows your brand. Another good point of print advertising is that it can show creative ways to portrait brand uniqueness. But today, print and digital marketing must work together to increase the brand popularity, check out more about this!
Benefits of Print Marketing Materials with QR Codes
Many print ads can be found in public spaces like the subway or bus stops, and many of them display fresh ways to engage the audience in their digital platforms, like social media or their apps. But it will be better if the ad has a QR Code to facilitate the search of social media or the app. Read how this works!
Print to digital
The best thing here is to put a QR Code in every print advertising that the brand wants to have, that way the users can scan the code and automatically go to the brand's social media, a landing page, a presentation video, or the brand's app, just by using a smartphone or tablet.
Keep a track with the marketing campaign
Another great benefit of having QR Codes in print marketing materials is the chance to have a track record, monitoring the metrics that the QR code presents. Many of these metrics can be integrated with Google Analytics, giving an inside of the digital and the print campaign, of course with the print won't be 100% accurate, but it can provide useful data.
QR Codes are entirely customizable
Following the colors and design of the print material campaign, the QR codes can be customizable to combine with it. From colors to size, any QR code can be placed in any print material without ruining the design. They are even adding a frame with a short but precise call to action. Besides this, an excellent benefit for designers is the feature of downloading the code in any format like JPG, PNG, EPS, and SVG; this way, they can add the code to any design with their preferred program; and they can be in any size.
QR Codes are editable, so no reprinting
With the Dynamic QR Codes, they can edit it to change their display information. That way, there is no need to reprint the materials. This is perfect for showing innovations and features, without changing the design or creating a new printed campaign.
Best Examples of Print Marketing Materials with QR Codes
These are the best examples of printed marketing materials with QR codes.
Magazine and newspaper ads: they work amazingly with any campaign because magazines and newspapers are the most popular printed products. The advertisements within the pages can offer many things, but a QR Code there is the best for the brand.
Poster ads: posters are incredible to announce events in the city. What better way to promote a concert, a festival, or a market than with a banner? And if you include a QR Code there, the user can access more information with just one scan.
Brochures and flyers: these are a classic tactic in the marketing world, but they have been upgraded to show a QR Code with more information about the product, service, or event display on them.
Product packaging: many users, when buying a new product, would like to know more about it, the best way to resolve this is with a QR Code. For example, a product that needs ensemble, the manual can be presented with a code that allows the user to download a PDF file of it.
These are just a few examples of print marketing materials. Still, there are more that can offer many benefits for your brand and the users, especially if you mix the print and the digital aspect of your marketing campaign. Inventory Management: How to Use the QR Code
Every company understands the problems, complications, and issues that inventory management has. For that reason, QR Codes were created to give a modern approach to it, thanks to their main ability to hold more information than barcodes. Nowadays, they come with so many possibilities from customization to the data they show. Keep reading to find out more about their uses for inventory management!
Benefits of implementing QR codes for inventory management
Before show you the benefits they possess for inventory management, let's talk about their history. The first version of a QR Code was the Barcode that can only be read horizontally. It was created to fulfill the wave of consumerism that hit Japan in the 1960s. Supermarkets and retailers needed to accumulate more products to meet market demands. Before the barcodes, cashiers had to make the inventory by hand, which was a slow and painstaking task.
But even with the barcodes, they still were facing so many struggles with the mass product inventory management requires. This resulted in searching for a new solution. For that, they contacted the DENSO WAVE INCORPORATION, in which its inventor Masahiro Hara with another member of the team, presented the idea of the QR Codes. Thanks to their square shape, that was the key for them to hold tons of data than barcodes, helping the market with mass inventory management. Check out their benefits for it!
Say goodbye to old scanning devices
Barcodes need a particular scanning device to read them. Because they are read horizontally, this limits the information they hold. But these types of devices can be a considerable expense for companies that possess extensive inventories. Another problem with those devices is that they need to be connected or be close to a computer. A computer in the middle of a large warehouse is not convenient, can be dangerous, and presents disruption for the daily process. Scanning a QR Code is more comfortable with the use of a smartphone or tablet.
Additional information
QR Codes can hold more data and information than barcodes, which means that they can be linked to so many different details, with this QR Codes can be created for a specific type of use within the inventory management, such as manuals with a PDF QR Code, product images with an image gallery QR Code, or videos with the video QR Code. But one of the most important is the Business QR Codes, which helps identify transportation boxes, especially if the inventory is from different companies or levels.
Error correction
One of the main advantages of QR Codes over Barcodes is their 30% error tolerance, which indicates that a third part of the code can be damaged. However, it is still working, this is an essential feature for products that are shipped globally. This comes from their pixelated square shape; many products can go through so many hands, transportation systems, and weather during their shipment, so the damage to their printed code is easy to occur.
Customize for different products
If the inventory is for different companies or levels inside one company, it will be better to use QR Codes with different colors to help workers distinguish them. With this, the staff can proceed with a determined organization, even before starting the scanning. A good tip for them is to print them with a size of about 0.8 x 0.8 inches (2 x 2cm) or even bigger. This will help with packaged items with uneven surfaces.
Dynamic QR Codes
The technology of the codes has been upgraded thanks to the Dynamic QR Codes, they contain all the data and information, but also they can be edited at any time. This is a helpful feature because the codes are printed at large volumes for inventory management, increasing the chance of mistakes. With the Dynamic QR Code, the type of use can be changed without changing the printed version. The information can be edited or updated in case of mistakes or new versions.
UPC Barcodes
These are the upgraded versions of barcodes, and they can also be scanned using a smartphone or with any QR Code scanner. Simple inventory systems are using the UPC Barcodes. For them, it can be a massive effort to change to QR Codes to simplify the process they are still existing, with only new products showing a QR Code.
QR codes can be easily integrated into any inventory system
With all the above features and characteristics, you can notice that the use of QR Codes is the best solution for inventory management. It doesn't matter the system or the process, they will help a lot, especially for larger inventories. Many of the current inventory systems allow the use of QR Codes, so start using them to check the best types for the process, here at MyQRBC we tell you how!

QR Code: How to Solve Scanning Problems?
The QR Code was developed as an advanced version of Barcodes, to help with inventory management, because they can hold more information, and can be read horizontally and vertically. Besides that, they can come in editable versions like Dynamic QR Codes and can be created in large batches. These are just a few reasons behind their popularity, and businesses around the world are starting to use them to generate revenue streams with marketing campaigns and to improve their internal processes.
QR Code is becoming one of the most useful tools in recent days. Still, sometimes users can experience problems while scanning, even when they have higher levels of error tolerance. For that reason, today we show you the most common issues with a QR Code and how to solve them.
Check what the error is when scanning the QR code
The structure of a QR Code is created in such a way that the margin of error is almost non-existent. That is why they are becoming more and more popular. The codes can sustain up to 30% of structural damage, and even with that, they continue to function; this is known as error correction. The pixelated square shapes that every QR Code present are double; this means that if some part is damaged, the other parts can make up for them and convey the data to the scanner.
Three parts focus on the error correction, check them out!
- Data and correction keys: this part holds most of the data that is linked to the QR Code.
- Formal information: these parts include error tolerance levels and the data mask pattern, the one that creates the code; that way, the QR Code is easy to scan.
- Quiet zone: this is the space that separates the data from other graphics elements. That way, the scanner knows what must be scanned.
Common scanning errors and how to fix them
Even with the error correction, the QR Code can't be scanned due to improper designs, color mismatches, materials it will be used on, size, and others. Read the following errors and how to fix them!
Not enough space
Problem: this happens when the quiet zone around the pixel square shape is too small or practically non-existent. Because the design has left out the reserved area, any scanner wouldn't be able to determine what is the QR Code and what the graphic is.
Solution: when designing the graphic, the designer must always be sure to leave enough space for the quiet zone. The perfect size is at least four times larger than the QR Codes modules; those are the pixels that make up the code and can come in colors depending on the design.
Design color mismatch
Problem: the background color of the material, where the QR Code is located, is the same as the code, so the QR Code has faded into the design. With this problem, the scanner can't know which one is the code.
Solution: just design the QR Code to match the background colors, but in a way that QR Code pixels can stand out, maintaining the quiet zone.
Hidden by material color
Problem: continuing with color problems, here we have the background materials. Sometimes the designer uses a picture instead of colors, and the QR Code pixels can be faded into the view.
Solution: This is for all the QR Codes. They must be printed or appear with a quiet zone that clearly separates the code from the design, and the colors must be used to stand out the QR Code from the background.
Too blurry
Problem: when the advertisement is designed, the QR Code can be too small or not of high enough quality. So when the ad is printed, the image appears blurry and can't be scanned. Also, it can damage the general design and deters customers.
Solution: for small ads, QR Codes work perfectly in JPG and PNG formats. For a high-quality graphic designer level, the best are EPS or SVG vector files that can be scaled without losing their print quality.
Too small or too big
Problem: the QR Code is too small to be found within the design, or it is too big to take over the map. But, you will not get QR Code scans with improper sizing in the design.
Solution: if the print material is small or medium-sized, the QR Code should be a minimum of 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 in). The scale of the code should be scaled with the size of the design if it is larger. If the designer has doubts, the best is a bigger code and testing the prints to ensure the right size.
Missing or broken links
Problems: when scanning a QR Code, it can appear a 404 error code. This happens when the link is missing or is broken, thus deterring possible and valuable clients.
Solution: if you are using a QR Code for a marketing campaign, make sure that all the links are working correctly, test them before starting the promotion. But if you need to update or edit the information, it would be best to use a Dynamic version of the code, that can be changed at any time.
Overloaded content
Problem: sometimes, the QR Code can be overloaded with too much data, that slows down the scan time, and the information takes too long to load that can deter users and possible clients.
Solution: the team must consider the relevant elements for each campaign, instead of linking much information. The primary purpose of QR Codes is to connect the user with the proper information quickly and conveniently.
Not using a square shape.
Problem: The QR Codes are designed to have a square shape because that is what gave them their advantages from data capacities to quick scan times. If the designer doesn't keep that structure intact, the QR Code will not work efficiently.
Solution: if the QR Code maintains the square shape, it will be linked to the information and scanned quickly. And it is precisely that what makes them so useful for customers and businesses.
The use of a QR Code is more important than ever, even in the years to come they will take more and more spaces. These are just a few of the small errors that they present, but in general, they are very safe and easy to use. Check out more information about QR Codes with our article and don't miss any posts on our social media!

However, one of the significant peaks about technology is how it can be used to solve problems, so to backup business information, QR Codes are becoming the heroes in this pandemic.
QR codes are useful for every business.
One of the primary rules in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic outbreak is social distancing, for that reason having a way to order something, pay purchase with no cash or no credit cars, check out a catalog or a restaurant's menu, read the relevant information, the newspaper or magazines, and other such normal day-to-day activities are now done without touching anything.
There is where the QR Codes play a considerable role in backup business information, helping customers to know everything about a business, with the benefits of not having to go out and touching objects and surfaces. With a QR code, everybody can have access to every business information with handy features like the following.
- Easy to use: one of the significant points in the popularity of the QR Codes is that everybody with a smartphone can read them. The newest model automatically scans the codes with the camera. For older models, there are many apps in the different app stores to scan QR Codes.
- Different types of codes: the variety of uses for QR Codes are increasing with the years. There are so many types from videos, images, landing pages, marketing campaigns, app store links, social media links, catalogs, restaurants' menu, events, and many more options.
- Perfect for social distancing: QR Codes are ideal to fulfill the social distancing rules because there isn't a minimum scan distance, so they require zero physical contact to be used. If the QR Code is large enough and with high image quality, it doesn't matter how far away the code is scanned.
- Starter point into digitalization: of course, the QR Codes are perfect in these quarantine times, but after the lockdown period, the digitalization process is still there for every business that is thinking about the future. Going into digital with the help of QR Codes will continue to pay off in years to come.
How do I back up my business with QR codes?
The QR Codes complement so many companies, especially to backup business information. Right now, they help with social distancing. Still, after the pandemic is over, they will help with print and digital marketing, besides it is another step into digitalization. Check out different examples of how the backup is done.
- Contactless information: many kinds of research shows that the virus can survive on surfaces for 2 to 3 days. For that reason presenting paperless and contactless information has become essential. With the use of a PDF QR Code, many businesses are offering catalogs, menus, ebooks, magazines, and other printed products. Another benefit of this method is that the company can save money from writing seasonal products or making small changes to them.
- Communication with customers: with social media QR Codes, any business can have the opportunity to communicate with their customers, attending their request, and answering any question or doubt. But with the codes, small companies can work together to face any obstacle and to have a good network among other businesses. Besides that, platforms like Instagram work incredibly well with QR Codes to advertise products. They have an open communication channel with customers.
- Taking advantage of the physical place: during this quarantine, physical spaces like stores, kiosks, shops, food trucks, or restaurants are close. But those spaces have many advantages, to advertise the digital changes that every business is implementing. And QR Codes are the best allies here. Think about it: put a large QR Code in the display window or even the wall, with the close customers access to online catalogs, menus, services, and others can become a purchase or application.
- Forget cash or credit cards: delivery has become one of the strongest points in the COVID-19 pandemic, but at the beginning, many were concerned about payments because cash could be potentially dangerous the same with credit or debit cards. But QR Codes were the answer, setting ordering systems that allow customers to pay in advance with the QR Code. Another method is a digital wallet that many users are starting to get to know.
- Brand loyalty: another great way to use QR Codes to backup business information is to keep growing the brand loyalty from your customers, offering them new services or even small products about the brand.
The uses for QR Codes in the COVID-19 pandemic are infinite, especially for small and medium businesses; not only can they backup business information, but they can also have a constant revenue stream and even save money when the quarantine is entirely over. Here at MyQRBC, offer you all the different types of QR Codes to help your business grow.

Many people are changing to digital to continue the business processes, so it's fair that the entertainment and other aspects are turning into virtual events.
These are the main advantages of virtual events
Different businesses were already using virtual events as part of their digitalization. They were a mix of physical audiences and streaming the incident to the whole globe. The digital world allows us to be connected even within long-distance, which is the main point in virtual events, allowing people worldwide to enjoy them without traveling. Check out their amazing advantages!
- Flexibility: the digital transformation we are facing right now allows us to access information more flexibly, without the cost of traveling and transportation. This flexibility is useful not just for the attendees but also for the hosts of the event, so companies are starting to use a global approach with these events. Take, for example, One World: Together at Home from Global Citizen, which featured artists from around the world.
- Revenue streams: every company needs stable revenue streams, but in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak finding a way to maintain processes and strategies is a hard challenge. However, those who already had a robust online plan, understand the value in virtual events. Using the digital world to continue marketing and selling products is the best move in these changing times. So, don't cancel any event, just turn it into a virtual one and keep the revenue streams as stable as ever.
