He did his best to ignore the weird electricity between them, he and Lillian hardly spent any time together or in the same room since the divorce so Griffin certainly felt slightly thrown off but he was used to pretend he wasn't, he did that for his job all the time. So he greeted her politely but friendly and waited until their two kids left to get on the topic he wanted to discuss. Motioning with his hand for her to follow him, Griffin led them to the kitchen, laughing when Lillian braced herself at the prospect of their son's idea. The room was huge, with an isle and a round table on the corner, with a window by a side that gave view to the yard, books and papers that belonged to him and Kyle were scattered all over the table; Griff had always preferred working in the kitchen even thought he had a studio here and he also had one in the house he shared with Lillian. He didn't take badly her joke, not that he hadn't thought about getting back together but he knew he had fucked up that road a long time ago. "It isn't." Griffin assured her as he headed behind the isle and by shear instinct he got the drink Lillian always to have. "You want something different? Should've asked." He chuckled, still holding the glass although he had already placed it before her. "Anyway, Kyle suggested that you could stay here while the house is getting fixed." He went on. "It came from a sincere place without any intention of us getting back together, or so it seemed." He snickered. "And I happen to agree. The fixing is going to cost without adding it renting somewhere else. You can stay in the guest room here or stay at the pool house in the back for more privacy. Plus, it'll make it easier with the kids. Of course, it's all up to you. I thought it was worth a shot suggesting it." || @midnightrainrp

"Alright then, I'll be over in a bit. Just remind them I'm stil checking on their homework even if they're staying over." Lillian was quick to hang up the phone considering she was already driving over, not without a warning to her children first. Truth was she hadn't felt entirely comfortable seeing Griffin after the divorce, still hurting for the fact they hadn't even tried and just let it fall apart. It seemed as though she was the problem considering her ex-husband now spent more time at home than he did when she was there to look after their kids full time. It didn't help that everything in her life seemed to be upsides down, the house that never gave her any trouble was now practically flooded and Spencer wouldn't even pick up the phone when she called. The woman parked the car in the street, taking down the bags with Kyle's and Samanthat's clothes and gently knocking on the door of Griffin's new place. She didn't realize she was holding her breath until she spoke, a breathless "Hi" leaving her lips. Gathering herself up, Lillian walked inside placing the bags on the hall and gesturing for the children to take them to their rooms, only then turning her attention back to her ex. "Kyle's idea? I definitely could use something stronger then." She joked, a small smile on her lips as she began walking towards the kitchen. "I'd guess it's another plan of his to get us back together, but you said it was a good idea so I'm betting that's not it." @autumnwritcs

It had taken her a long time to be able to tell that last part of her life, she tended to not answer or make up the truth and after she could share it, it took her some more time to not apologize for saying it. Those things that seemed so little felt huge for her and she was indeed proud of her progress. The blonde was, however, a bit nervous of Elisha's reaction, not that she expected judgement from him -people here in general hadn't judge her for leaving her boyfriend- but she had received a lot of it in her small town in Georgia. And just like she expected, the man was nothing but kind and it helped her to look up again and smile. "Thank you, Eli." The hand squeeze was reassuring and it felt nice so she didn't pull it back.
She asked Eli more about his job and his life in here and she told him more about her job at the shop, stop short when the horn coming from a truck started her but she laughed soon after. "Yeah, absolutely! I want to get on the truck, too." The blonde added. They returned the empty plates and then she followed Eli until she were standing before a rack of jackets and hats, as she tried a jacket first she moved her arms up and down. "I thought they'd be a lot heavier but it's not that bad. How much do these weigh?" Accepting then the helmet, Camila put it on and turned to Eli with a smile. "So? Do I make the cut?" She teased.
After returning the items so others could try them on, they moved to one of the truck. "So, what do you do when you're not working?" She asked him trying to get to know him more. || @full-tiltboogie

He listened intently, rubbing his thumb along the outside of his coffee cup, a habit of his. Eventually he could even feel the thin paper's fibers there start coming off a little bit from the friction. His heart panged for her story; everybody had a history behind how they got from Point A to Point B and yet, some people's road bumps were worse than others. She definitely had it rough, but at the same time, it sounded as if things were looking up. And Eli was glad he was there that night at the party, though with that gladness came some bitterness that he wasn't able to help her much sooner.

A warm smile adorned his features as she wrapped up on the note about her GED. "Well, I'm glad you're here," he told her sincerely, setting his coffee cup down and reaching out to place a gentle hand atop hers, if only for a moment. "I know it ain't easy. But you should be proud of yourself, you're working hard. If you ever need anything from me, don't hesitate to call. They say I got the speed of a first responder and all." He hoped the lighthearted joke would perk her spirits up; at the same time, he was genuine about what he said. Eli never said anything he didn't mean—when he told you he'd be there for you, that's exactly what he was going to do.
After a few more minutes of conversation, he'd somewhat forgotten where they were, and was only reminded whenever he heard the loud horn of a nearby firetruck being climbed on by kids. He laughed, obviously spooked—but that's what the trucks were there for, for the kids to learn about them and explore. He gestured toward the field, where several emergency vehicles were parked among other activities.
"You wanna walk around, maybe try on one of the fire jackets and helmets for size?"
It wasn't the most romantic first date, but it was a step into his world. Something he hoped she'd appreciate. // @autumnwritcs

"Fuck off." Nina nudged Connor at his joke before taking a drag of the cigarette and watched eagerly as the man unwrapped his gift, not only that but she was bouncing on her feet and biting her bottom lip, her eyes focused on Connor's face, not wanting to miss his reaction in case his words then said something else. Facial expression didn't lie. And what he got, made Nina smile because he genuinely seem to like it. "Yeah?" She asked hopefully for the confirmation, snickering as she saw him admire how the watch looked on. The hug took her by surprise and she let out a soft gasp when her chest pressed against Connor's and a chill went through her body although it had nothing to do with the cold. The kiss that followed felt as natural as breathing and yet it was her breath that she lost when she returned the kiss; nina knew she shouldn't have but it was impossible not to, she waited him. When he pulled back first, the blonde did too, flushed and with ragged breath. "Yeah, sure. I mean, didn't feel right come empty handed and well, I'm glad you liked it." Deep down she hoped that Connor would keep it, it'd made her feel like their time together had meant something once she had the courage to break things off for good and protect her heart in that way.
Having another drag, Nina returned the smoke to him and was ready to say she was taking off, however when she opened her mouth, something completely different came out of it. "I'm going back home for the holidays." She started, meaning going all the way to Idaho. "In a couple of days. Uhm... I know things are kinda weird between us but you could come, if you want. As friends, if it makes it better." She added with a shrug. "I know you're not a Christmas guy but there'll ve lots of food and my family, they're all crazy, not me, obviously, but you'll laugh your ass off, that's for sure." She laughed out of nerves. "But if you don't want to it's all good." Nina finished her rambling. || @waveofstars

Stepping out into the night was a much needed relief. The air was cool, the loud music was now just a distant rumble. He was quick to fish a cigarette out, nodding at her request to share. He never minded sharing with her. There was a little sitting area, most likely for the smokers, but they were alone out there. Connor leaned against the railing there and smiled over at her as she explained his birthday present. The fact she got him anything meant more than he’d ever really be able to tell her. He wasn’t used to presents, wasn’t always the greatest at receiving them, but he loved anything she gave him. Why? Because it meant she thought of him, and something about him being on her mind was all he ever really wanted. Taking a drag from the cigarette, he then extended it to her and traded it for the box. The Halloween paper was a nice touch, already a great gift on its own. “You seem nervous,” he couldn’t help but point out with a small laugh. “Don’t worry. I’m sure I won’t hate it… Maybe. Probably not.” Now he was only messing with her, enjoying this moment between them. Connor opened up the present and removed its packaging before uncovering a watch. It wasn’t just any watch - the face was a record player and everything about it essentially screamed Connor. It was a thoughtful gift, one that reminded him that Nina knew him better than most. He looked up at her with a genuine smile. “This is perfect,” he told her before moving to put it on. He admired it for a moment on his wrist before walking over to pull her into an embrace. Then, without thinking, he pulled away just slightly and placed his hands on the sides of her face before leaning in to kiss her. It was a gesture they weren’t unfamiliar with, though it seemed like lately they were trying to break old habits. Connor parted, still tasting the cigarette on her lips, and then ducked his head down a bit. “Shit, sorry,” he mumbled and parted from her. “It’s, uh, perfect. Thank you for this.”
