Tony knows that his daughter can be difficult, but he really needs someone to do him a solid when an important opportunity arises. Unfortunately, word is already out: Morgan Stark is a real handful. Never one to shrink from a challenge, Steve steps in, hoping to shift the strained dynamic between him and Tony and having no idea how the course of his life is about to change.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this (or when you feel up to it!), reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love!
aww thank you sabre for the ask, you know how much I love self recs :uwu:
alright so at first I thought it would be hard to pick only my fave five but it was surprisingly easy? :))) I think I picked the ones that I still look back at and think wow, how did I come up with all of that?
Seeking Companionship is a 616 epistolary fic which I really hoped more people would read because it's just pure joy to read if I say so myself, it's funny and engaging and I really like how I've managed to get their tones in writing letters in 1980s, and there is some innuendo and some raw insecurities and self-worth issues and of course a happy ending, all told in letters. oh and ID porn of course! (Rated T, 4.2k words)
Restless Gravity is my first RBB, a sci-fi omegaverse arranged marriage fic with omega Tony and warlord Steve in space, an AU of X-Factor 231, where Steve is a scary humanoid who is known for hating humans. I just have no idea how I came up with many of those ideas and images, and I really love the part of the fic where Tony transitions from 'I have to live with this thing' to him deciding that 'he seems to be very decent and I think I'm falling for him'. I just love that universe, I always think if I ever turn any of my fics into an original this would be the perfect candidate :) oh it also has ID porn, and amnesia. super tropey :) (Rated M, 10k)
Love of Inconvenience is an MCU arranged marriage, omegaverse, historical AU from 1920 happening near where I live in Australia, in a place called Fort Nepean which was the place where the first shot fired by the British Empire in World War I. It has a quarantine station and a beach and as soon I set foot in it, I was like yes, a small immigrant Steve fic with gun installer Tony. I just love the world of this fic, and the way they're so breathtakingly gone for each other but each think there is no way the other wants them for real. I actually made the mutual pining so real that I was unable to actually fix it for like a year before I finally managed to write the ending to this little thing :) (Rated T, 4.8 k)
Unintended Side Effects an MCU medkink fic, with bottom Steve and young Dr. Stark, with and ID twist that left all the commenters in awe (I'm not making this up, you can go check the comments :)) ), written for your birthday. to this day, I can't really figure out how I put so many words together about a...well... about the thing that happened in the fic. but I did, and I'm so glad that it exists because it's a rather niche kink and by the steady stream of readers that check it out 3 years later, I guess our people are also happy that it exists. (Rated E, 9k)
Quarantined Together an MCU canon adjacent AU about Steve and Tony hooking up one night and being forced to quarantine together for 14 days, with lots and lots of porn and lots and lots of fluff, which was intended to be a soft escape from the terrible times it was being written in. I'm really proud of it, both because I wrote and finished a long fic, and also because of the crazy concepts I put into it and I think they mostly worked in context, like the way I love yous were said, or the double ID porn roleplay. (Rated E, 40k)
well looks like I really love all of my ID porn fics :D

Seeking Companionship
Dear Sir,
You said that you are in pain. I’m sorry to hear that, truly. I may not know what you’re going through exactly, but I dare to say that I’m not a stranger to pain.
I’ll be fully honest with you: I’m currently nursing a broken heart. It’s a long story, which might bore you a little, so I’ll refrain. But I’m lonely too. I am rather aching to talk to someone who might understand, who might see things from my point of view, a shoulder to cry on.
A short story that might amuse you, however, is how I came about your entry in the newspaper. I found the page on the front steps of my apartment building after coming back from my morning run. I had hoped to clear my head on the run, but all that was on my mind when I reached my apartment block was my recent romantic problems. I picked up the page and the first thing I saw was your ad, ‘visible but not seen’ in bold print. I read your words, over and over again, and found myself thinking about you, and what you could perhaps mean by your somewhat cryptic lines. I thought to myself that this must be fate. Maybe this was an opportunity for me to heal and move past the pain, while I could help you with the same. After all, what was the worst that could happen? The chance of this encounter ending up in a disaster as my recent misadventure seems comfortably low. I am willing to listen to you, and seek to understand you before passing judgment, and I would appreciate your reciprocation in return.
Now, maybe I have got this all wrong. I have never responded to a personal advertisement before. If this letter, and me, is not what you were hoping for, I sincerely apologize. But if you’re inclined to reply and share some of your burden, I’ll be looking forward to your letter.
Yours, Bilbo Baggins
P.S. Although I said I’ll be completely honest with you, I’m sure you realize that this is not my real name. It would have been a gas though to share a name with Master Burglar.
--------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End,
I’m thrilled to have received your letter.
This might come as a surprise, but I, myself, have never put out a personal ad, and therefore have no idea what I should expect in return. I said in the ad that I’m looking for someone who’s willing to listen and I appreciate your offer to do that. Thank you.
As you could tell from my somewhat corny words in the ad, I’ve been experiencing a lot of pain. Or better said, a lot more than usual. It gets unbearable sometimes, like the Monday night I decided to put this ad out. I needed to talk to someone who hadn’t made up their mind before they'd even heard my answer. Heck, before even asking the question. And in the spirit of complete honesty, someone who didn’t know me too well, who would be willing to give me the benefit of the doubt.
I think I better share some less embarrassing parts of my story with you. See, there is this guy, who is probably the best man who has ever walked on earth. Maybe even better than the best. The kind that puts the rest of us to shame for not being good enough, makes you feel like a snail or a tortoise for crying out loud. And maybe it was my own fault to fall for this guy, but how can you not? How can you push away what’s somehow the essence of all good in the world? Now you might think I’m exaggerating but I’m not. When I tell you my life has been filled with pain, I am not exaggerating.
And I would have been fine, just going about my own business, because I might be a lot of things but I am not generally stupid. I know I’m not good enough for him. But he had to go on and make me think I had a chance and then pull the rug right out from under my feet. I fell on my damn face. It hurts.
Well, isn’t that depressing? I’ve been told I’m a fun guy, and look how I’m moping all over the sheet.
I’m sorry.
I am going to stop and share something less miserable. This week, after a rather difficult meeting I was hiding in my office when my secretary rang and let me know a little person was insisting on seeing me. I thought she’s there to get her candy from the box I keep in my office for the kids, but she was actually there to personally thank me for her birthday gift. She had candy for me. Made me smile after a long, long time.
Better?
I hope I salvaged it enough for you to not regret engaging with me so far. Please write back and share some of your burden.
Yours Truly,
Han Solo

I don't care (go on and tear me apart)
“No Tony, that’s not how it works. I don’t wanna ask you. I wanna make you. I wanna hurt you, fuck you, and then hurt you some more, and I don’t need your permission for it,” he says rough and hoarse. Tony holds Steve’s gaze breathing hard, terrified that he can’t find the earnest, sweet stars that always shine in Steve’s eyes. “That is what I want. The fact that you’re so fucking into it is a bonus.” He reaches down to palms his own cock from over the fabric. “You’re so good for me, Tony, even when you don’t want to be.” ------ Tony finds himself tied-up in an unknown place. Steve is there but not to help Tony; he has a whole other agenda.

Must Be True (Explicit, 9k)
When the stakes are too high, Tiberius Stone offers his omega, Tony, as a little side incentive to close important business deals. Tonight’s business is an arms deal with the Avengers, and the alpha they’re meeting is Captain America.
omega Tony, alpha Steve, protective Steve, Tony needs a hug, happy ending, gentle smut
I finally posted this one :) took like a couple of months to write and post this one, and I hope you give it a chance!

Rating: E
Lightning streaked across the smoke darkened sky just as the rain began to fall, turning the already churned earth to mud and sucking clay. The copper tang of blood mixed with the thick and noxious smell of burning flesh. Despite the rain, smoke trailed lazily into the air from the brush fires in the distance. Barrel deep roars, punctuated by the pained screams of dying men, pierced the air while the clash and clang of blade striking blade was a percussive background noise that rattled the bones. Steven Grant Rogers wiped the blood, sweat, and rain from his face with a grimace. He pushed himself stubbornly onto his knees, his ears still ringing from the blast that had sent him sailing through the sky only moments before. Body parts, wood shards, and clods of earth had speared through the air along with him. His stomach rolled at the sight and smell of death.
He blinked rapidly, the rain falling in torrents now, and allowed his gaze to roam across the battlefield.
They were losing.
His stomach rolled again, churning, his chest tight at the realization. There had been so much fighting, so much bloodshed and so very many lives lost. There had been sacrifices. There had been hope. Hope that what they were doing here meant something. Hope for better days for all of them. That they would see this through and come out on the other side. He had lost everything to this war. His friends, his family, his home. And it had all been for naught. Everywhere his gaze touched there were dead and dying men, his fellow soldiers and friends, choking out their last breaths beneath the indomitable strength of the invading enemy army.
A shuddering breath left him then, his ears still ringing from the blast, his body pummeled and sore, and his thoughts scattered. His left arm burned something fierce, so much so that he could feel the beat of his heart pulsing there. As he took stock of his own body, cataloging the aches and pains, he realized he was weaving where he knelt in the muck on the ground. Shock. Likely from blood loss, his healer’s mind provided for him needlessly.
He blinked slowly, watching the enemy forces descend upon them. They poured down the hill and into the valley below, reminding Steve of angry red ants scurrying out of a kicked over anthill. The King’s army had never faced an enemy so competent. They had weapons that no one had seen before. Projectiles that burst into flames that not even water could douse. Others caused shockwaves, sent men and beast and earth flying through the air, leaving a giant gaping maw in the earth. For all of their savagery, their primitive dress and disregard for human life, they far outclassed Norkyew’s renowned army.
The Vers.
Violent. Barbarians. Invaders. They were conquerors led by a bloodthirsty, soulless, warlord known as the Iron Warmonger. For the past two years the King’s army had been fighting off the inevitable. Everyone knew of their savagery, their merciless violence. They were renowned for their cruelty. Men, women, children. Entire villages laid to waste beneath the relentless press of the invading army. An army the likes of which they had never seen before.
They dressed in strange leathers, faces covered by masks or war paint, and rode on war horses without a saddle or reins. They sported weapons of all kinds, and relished in the judicious use of them. Women fought alongside the men, white teeth gleaming in paint blackened faces, no less savage than their male counterparts. The Vers fought with a wild and frenetic sort of ferocity. They brought with them the strength of their distant barbarous nation.
And still no one knew what had brought them to Norkyew’s shores. But arrived they had, just over two years ago, forcing the King to turn his eye away from the long running border skirmishes to the west and toward this new threat instead.
No one attacked Norkyew. It simply wasn’t done. They were one of the strongest nations, with a fierce army that rivaled all of their neighbors combined. For the Vers to come here, to journey across the sea, to challenge the Kingdom of Norkyew… it made little sense.
They had come pretty close today to a victory, Steve liked to think, when they had been able to catch one of those projectiles and sent it, and several others, back into the body of the Vers’ main frontal assault. It had been Steve’s idea to weave together a large net that would safely catch those projectiles. His idea to send them back to whence they came. Give those savage Ver a taste of their own medicine.
They had not been expecting it. And Steve had urged his fellow soldiers to press forward, to press their advantage. Vers fell at an alarming rate, stunned by their own battle weapons as the King’s army roared their triumph. For a brief, shining moment, Steve had the sweet taste of victory in his mouth.
It was soon wiped away only moments later as they were flanked on both sides by secondary forces. Backup had arrived just in time for the Vers.
And now?
He blinked again to clear his burning eyes. Clenched his teeth at the sound of the General’s horn sounding in the distance. Calling a retreat. Steve knew that many of them would not get the chance to fall back to safety. That he, like many of the others surrounding him right now, would get left behind. They were too far forward, too much in the thick of it, to turn back now.
For them, there would be no tomorrow.
A cold, humorless, laugh left him then.
“So be it.” his voice came out thick, scratchy. He shook the ringing from his ears, blinked back the burning of his eyes. He found his shield on the ground and looped his arm through the strap, tightening it to the point of pain. Pain helped him focus. Kept him moving.

Mr. Rogers (Steve/Tony)
For @thenextromana for the SteveTony Games wishlist challenge. Couldn’t resist this prompt - it’s too cute!
We’ve been hooking up for the past few weeks and holy shit it turned out you’re my fifth grader’s teacher oh god this embarrassing!
————–
Tony collapsed back on the bed with a happy sigh. “I’m never going to call Natasha’s matchmaking ‘meddling’ ever again.”
Steve laughed, springing out of bed in that sprightly workout-type-person way he did things. “It’s only meddling if you’re not deeply sexually compatible with the person?”
“Exactly.” Tony watched him walk across the room, grateful the door to the bathroom was on the opposite wall so there was plenty of time to enjoy the view.
Steve returned a moment later, the condom gone, hair damp like he’d run wet fingers through it. He flopped on his bed beside Tony. “Well, she was definitely right about us.”
Tony leaned up on one elbow to kiss Steve, letting it get a little filthy. Steve’s hand curled over his hip and gripped hard.
Tony wasn’t inclined to call what he was doing with Steve anything more than “hooking up,” at this point, but it’d been a few weeks, and they’d been having regular, fantastic sex, and quite a bit of fun too. He was hitting the point where it was about time to figure out if this was only ever going to be hooking up, or going to become something more. Maybe instead of initiating another round, he should start finding out. “So… tell me something about you.”
Steve smiled knowingly at him, but said, “I’m pretty boring.”
“What do you do in your spare time?”
“Read. Watch baseball. Workout.”
“Ha. No kidding.” Tony ran his finger down Steve’s six-pack. “Guess you have to put a lot of time into these.”
Steve shrugged. “I enjoy it. And the gym is right across from where I work.”
Tony’s gears - admittedly slow-moving from the mind-blowing orgasm finally clicked together. “Uh. Wait. You met Natasha at the gym. Shield Gym? By the drug store?”
Steve nodded. “Yeah, across from the elementary school.”
“Where…you work…” Tony realized. He sat up, his nudity suddenly feeling deeply inappropriate for the situation. “Please, please, tell me there’s another tall, kind Mr. Rogers, who teaches fifth grade?”
“Uh, no. That’d just be me…”
A wild laugh burst out of Tony. “Oh my god, I’ve been fucking my kid’s teacher. Ha ha ha. Oh god.”
Steve sat up too. “Your kid? No… I don’t have any Starks in my class.”
“Peter,” Tony said. “Peter Parker. He’s adopted, and I thought he’d be better off not being a Stark.”
“Ah. Well.” Steve cleared his throat. “Yes, I do know Peter. He’s in my class.”
Tony started laughing again, burying his face in his hands. “Holy shit.” He scooted out of bed and started gathering his clothes. “If it helps soften the blow, at all, he adores you. You’re his favourite teacher by a long shot. Think he might even try to fail the year so he can get you again next year.”
Steve snorted. “Won’t work. I’m on rotation. Next year is third grade. And I doubt a kid that smart can pretend to fail so badly he goes back two grades. I love Peter. He’s such a joy to teach.”
“Oh, are we doing the parent-teacher conference now? Never done one naked before.” Tony tried to put his head through an armhole.
“Tony…” Steve stood and caught Tony’s elbows as he finished struggling into his shirt. “Hey. It’s okay. Calm down. We didn’t know, alright? Don’t worry about it. I’m not going to treat Peter any differently. You don’t have to panic.”
Tony stared at Steve. “Me? I don’t have to panic? Aren’t you going to be in huge trouble if this gets out? I don’t want my dick to be the reason my son’s favourite teacher gets fired!”
“Whoa, whoa, Tony. I’m not going to get fired. Is that what you’re worried about?”
“Well… yeah? It’s not like I’m going to get fired.”
Steve laughed softly. “I thought you were worried I’d treat Peter differently. Or take it out on him if we broke things off.”
“You are way too nice and well-principled to do something like that.”
Steve’s fingers rubbed up and down the outside of Tony’s arms. “I’m not going to get fired. It’s not in our code of conduct that we can’t date parents. Obviously, they’d prefer we didn’t, but as long as it doesn’t directly cause any issues, we’re free to date whoever we want. I know coworkers who have done it successfully.”
Tony shifted in place, not sure if he wanted to press closer or pull further apart. “When you say date…”
Steve actually blushed, which had no right to be as endearing as it was. “Well… I was actually thinking of asking you if you wanted to go out properly, sometime. Food, conversation…”
“Clothes?”
Steve laughed. “For at least part of the night, sure.” Then he dropped Tony’s arm and stepped back a little. “But I understand if it makes you uncomfortable. No pressure to continue things. Peter only will be my student for another five months, so if you’d rather wait, I’d be fine with that too.”
“You’d wait five months for me?” Tony’s heart was doing dangerous things in his chest.
Steve’s blush deepened. “Sure. I really like you, Tony. And now that I know your son is awesome too, I don’t have to worry about not getting along with him. Uh. Should you want me to meet him in that capacity some day.”
“I really like you too. If you’re really okay with it, if it won’t cause trouble at work -?”
Steve shook his head. “I’d prefer to keep it quiet, not tell Peter, particularly, so it doesn’t get out to his classmates. But five months seems like the right amount of time to try things out, anyway. Maybe by summer holidays, we’ll uh -”
“Be boyfriends?” Tony offered.
Steve grinned. “Yeah, that. Or if it doesn’t work out, we’ll be able to break up quietly without disrupting Peter’s school year.”
“Can I tell you how sexy it is that you’re worried about my kid’s well-being? Cause dating me means he comes first, always.”
“I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
“So, a five month test run?”
“Looks like.”
“I’m starting to wonder if Nat really was meddling after all. How could she not have known?” Tony narrowed his eyes. “I’m getting her a fruit basket and a lie detector test to say thank you for making this match.”
Steve laughed, eyes bright, giddy. “I’m pretty sure Natasha knows everything, including how good of a match we make.”
“Too true.” Tony tipped into Steve’s arms. “You know, I already paid for the babysitter until midnight.”
“Well, in that case…” Steve tugged Tony’s shirt back up and off. “Better make the most of it.”
“Good plan, Mr. Rogers.”
Steve’s nose wrinkled. “Maybe save that til after Peter graduates.”
Tony beamed up at him, delighted at the idea they might still be together then. “I’ll pencil that in.” He dove in for another kiss.

Steve needs to talk to Tony, right now. He has to tell him everything, everything right this second. He wants to hold Tony. He needs to at least be in his orbit right now.
He nods one more time to the very chatty colonel and excuses himself, pretending that he can’t hear anyone as he walks down the stairs and walks all the way back to the front. He stops in the corner, thinking for a second that he’s lost Tony before he spots him a few yards away. Feeling a bit overwhelmed all over again, he leans back against the wall, takes a deep breath, and closes his eyes. It will be fine, he tells himself, he has dealt with much more complicated matters with a straight face, so this is all he needs, a breath, a minute before he can open his eyes and deal with it all—
How long had he kept his eyes closed for? Where did the tall blond guy appear from and why does he have his arm around Tony’s shoulders?
Something tightens in Steve’s chest and squeezes around his heart. He knows, for a fact, that Tony Stark is well known as a playboy who flirts like there is no tomorrow and he is really good at it, so much that it’s almost impossible to not believe him when he compliments a gal’s gorgeous eyes or the way a blue silk tie is bringing out the color of a fella’s eyes.
And Steve’s fine with that. Not because he doesn’t mind sharing Tony’s affections with other people, but because he knows that Tony doesn’t really mean any of it. He knows that it’s all a show, that the playboy act is just an act, a front for Tony to hide behind, a layer he’s built carefully around himself over the years.
Except that right now, what’s happening before Steve’s eyes is nothing like that. Tony is not wearing his usual mask, and the way his cheeks seem to have colored do not seem to be part of an act. Steve feels nauseated and his palms are suddenly sweaty. Tony looks bashful and his smiles are a little vulnerable. He is not flirting; he seems to be enamored by this guy.
Heat runs up Steve’s chest. Blood roars in his ears. He clenches his fists so hard that his nails break into his palms. He breathes in and out, in again, out again, but there is no helping the rage that’s soaring in his veins. The prick slides his arm down Tony’s back, and tightens his hold around him. Steve has a sudden urge to break the guy’s arm in two.

April's Fool
“Um hello, Tony," Steve says as he smiles with his whole face, the way Tony really loves and Tony wraps his fingers around his coffee mug just to make sure he doesn’t reach over and do something silly with them.
“Hey Cap, top of the morning to you too.”
Steve sits down on the other side of the counter and takes his time to open the bottle and drink plenty of water. He then looks up at Tony and-- wait, why is he blushing?
“So, um, you know … I was thinking, that, um …” Steve tries, opening and closing his mouth, the color spreading over his neck. “I wanted to … you know …” and he grabs the water bottle and takes a few more gulps, and the water apparently goes down the wrong way because he starts coughing all of a sudden.
Tony jumps off his seat, runs to Steve and pats his back a few times until Steve starts to breathe normally again. “Calm down Cap, take a deep breath,” and he realizes that he is rubbing Steve’s back still, so he pulls his hands away, “it would have made the worst headlines if you actually choked on a few drops of water,” and they both laugh although it’s the worst joke Tony has come up with, ever.
Steve looks up at Tony and takes a deep breath, “Okay, here we go. I’ll spill before I accidentally choke on something else.” He takes another deep breath before he speaks again, and Tony can’t stop himself from inhaling sharply because God, how could a simple breath be so intoxicating. “Do you want to go out with me? You know like a date or something?”
The world freezes for a second.
Tony can’t believe that he is finally hearing the words he’s been anticipating, for god knows how long, but today and like this. He rewinds them in his mind, hoping to have heard wrong, but there is no other way to interpret Steve’s words and he is not looking at Tony right now so Tony can’t really read his face.
Tony takes a step back as Steve finally brings his eyes up from the water bottle and he is not even smiling which hurts even more for some reason. No fucking tears, Tony mutters to himself, not for something stupid like this and he squeezes his eyes shut, keeping them like that for a few seconds before he opens them to look back at Steve again.
“You know what Steve? Fuck you too.” And he walks a few steps backward out of the kitchen and runs for the elevator.

So yeah, this is the April Fool's fic I wrote in 2020. If you haven't read it before, it's the perfect time! And if you have, well, how about a reread?
There is jerk Ty, super protective Steve and Tony who doesn't want to be so flustered over Steve's protectivenss but he so very much is.
April's Fool (4.3k - T)
Steve asks Tony out on April Fools' Day, not realizing what day it is. Tony gets upset and rejects him. Tony can't believe Steve would mock him like this. Steve can't believe Tony would reject him like that. There is a bit of a twist though, and Steve might need to take matters in his own hands.
Misunderstanding , Emotional Hurt/Comfort, slightly though, Tony Stark Needs a Hug, Protective Steve Rogers, Post-Avengers (2012), Ty is a jerk , Fluff

restless constellations: move the stars
After winning a week long holiday to a luxury island paradise, 11 college students find themselves at a deserted resort with no clues to where the guests and staff disappeared to, as all modes of escape are sabotaged, and communication with the outside world catastrophically cut off. The island holds dangers and secrets from across time, with a prehistoric predator stalking their every move, and time playing tricks on the group. Through it all, Steve is only sure of one thing; their pilot, Tony, means something to him. Something that feels older than the short time they’ve known each other.
----
@s-hylor 's extraordinary fic restless constellations: move the stars is finally here! I had the honour of working with him to make some mood boards for this amazingly intriguing and entertaining fic, and I had such a good time😍
it's got a mind-blowing adventure in a mysterious island, it has Steve and Tony going around the island fighting one unbelievable battle after the other, as they try to find a way to go back home, and falling for each other in the mean time. a lot of cameos from our favourite avengers both MCU and comics, humour, romance, action, and lots more!
it also features Red's masterfully written words which are always a delight to read, regardless of the fic's premise 😊
This is our work for @cap-ironman Big Bang 2021, thank you so much to the mods for another great event!

fandom: MCU (post-CW, post-IW) ship: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark tags: Fluff and Humor, Crack Treated Seriously, Human Disaster Tony Stark
As most of Tony’s mistakes, it starts out when he’s drunk.
He’s drunk because of Steve. Because Steve is back now, apparently for good. He and his merry band of fugitives have been pardoned, the Accords are under revision, and he and Tony have made up. Truly, honestly made up. Few things put pointless fights in perspective like a Mad Titan knocking on your planet’s door.
So Tony and Steve are not mad at each other anymore. They’re speaking normally. All things considered, they’re fine.
That’s why Tony’s drunk. He’s drunk because Steve is back, and they’re fine, and that’s apparently all they’ll ever be. He’s drunk because Steve hasn’t moved back to the compound, instead settling into some shitty apartment in Brooklyn, and whenever he comes around for training or to work on Avengers business, he and Tony greet each other and make small talk about the weather and that’s it.
He’s drunk because he’s an idiot. Because he was hoping that, once he and Steve have made up, things between them could… be different, maybe. He was hoping they’d understand each other better. He was hoping he’d be able to look into Steve’s eyes and say something that wasn’t a snarky comment—hell, he was hoping he’d be able to ask Steve out for lunch or something, in between U.N. meetings. He was hoping they’d see each other more, and spend more time together, and…
It would be easier.
He and Steve are fine, but fine is not enough.
Therefore: alcohol.
Truth be told, the problem doesn’t really start because he’s drunk. It starts because he’s alone in his workshop, navigating through panels and archives aimlessly, and he runs into Vision’s latest The Sims file.

Steve/Tony - Hidden Gem
Talk about hidden gems in stony fandom, folks, how come this fic doesn't have way more kudos?
Some Like it Hot by @jenthesweetie
A lot of stories start with "a man walks into a bar", but these days a lot of stories that start that way end pretty badly. Steve tries not to think about that too hard as he approaches the door off the alley just past the corner of 55th and Broadway. The alley smells like grease and garbage and everything else a New York City alley usually smells like, and when Steve opens the swinging door there's nobody in the storeroom of the deli. He takes a left at the canned peas, and the second door is there, right where his source said it would be. He tries the knob, and it turns easily and opens into a dingy staircase that nobody's cleaned in a long while. It's dark, and Steve wonders for a minute if they're open, but then he hears it - the clink of a glass, the low murmur of conversation. He's in the right place. It's not exactly reassuring.
I love, love, loved this fic. It is of course well-written because JenTheSweetie is an amazing writer, and it does such an amazing job to retell Avengers in a no-space-villains, 1920 AU with nostalgic canon references and tell a fresh story, with characters that are so much fun to go on this ride with. I also loved the way Natasha was sorta centre to this fic, and part of the story was told from her PoV - very masterfully done.
(also the hot bits were really really hot, ngl)
30k, E
AU, 1920's AU, Dirty Talk, Hand Jobs, Minor Threesome Pairing (for Natasha) Prohibition

Sleep
Hands - thick fingered, smooth, and hot - slid over Tony’s hip with purpose. The finger’s curved, blunt nails making the skin of his thigh pebble as a tingle spread through him. Sighing, he turned his head slightly up, his eyes still closed and heavy with sleep.
“Are you trying to start sexy time?”
Tony’s voice was gruff with sleep, the tips of his mouth lifting as the hand on his leg stilled. He hadn’t opened his eyes yet, sleep was still pulling at him, his body heavy with it. Steve let out a huff, part laughter and part embarrassment.
“I was actually going to draw for a bit and …”
Tony could well imagine the blush spreading across the blond man’s face.
“Hmmm, posing me in my sleep for naughty drawings then.”
Steve didn’t move for several seconds before chuckling softly, “Yeah, something like that.”
Dropping his head back to the pillow, Tony snuggled into the plushness while he shifted his hips. Steve caught on quickly - like everything - and positioned Tony’s leg how he wanted. He pulled the sheet up higher on Tony’s hips, draping it along his side before letting it fall around his mid back. Tony’s chest would be bare, him on his side and facing the open room. Lips pressed into Tony’s temple and he sighed, letting sleep come up and curl around him again.
Steve slipped off the bed, making just enough noise for Tony to gauge his progress through the room but not enough to disturb him as he fell back asleep. Since he didn’t hear the recliner move Tony figured Steve had moved it to wherever he had wanted it before he had decided to rearrange him on the bed. The sound of papers being flipped was like a whisper right before the soft sounds of a pencil’s tip moved across the page. It was soothing and Tony felt himself relax further, the sleep summoned by safety and love.
“You get 45 minutes to draw and then sexy time,” Tony murmured. He finally fell back to sleep to the sound of Steve’s soft laughter.

SteveTony - Long Fics
Here are some of my favorites Long Fics. Don't forget to leave kudos and nice comments in every fic!
Lord, What Fools These Mortals Be by iam93percentstardust, 72 k > words, Alternate Universe - Theatre.
Famed director Phil Coulson brings Shakespeare’s beloved play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to Broadway. This production though comes with a twist: a brief but passionate love affair between the faerie king, Oberon, and his attendant, Puck. In the roles of the two star-crossed lovers, Coulson casts America’s darling Steve Rogers, fresh off his third Academy Award, and Broadway royalty, Tony Stark. Steve quickly finds himself falling for the quick-witted and sarcastic actor but Tony is dating the stage manager. Unwilling to come between the seemingly happy couple, Steve steps back but all isn’t right behind the scenes and Tony may need him when everything falls apart.
Reject Your Reality (and Substitute My Own) by, dapperanachronism, 74 k > words, Robin_tCJ, Alternate Universe - Coffee Shops & Cafés, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence.
Single parent Tony Stark’s son is the most important thing in the world to him – the ONLY important thing in the universe. A hipster Brooklyn coffee-shop owner & veteran doesn’t even rank on the list – even if he is hot and funny and kind.
When he hears about the possibly-high-traffic-and-therefore-dangerous coffee shop moving in next door to Casey’s preschool, he does the only sensible thing he can think of – he confronts the owner and tries to convince him to open his shop elsewhere.
Of course, Steve Rogers is stubborn as hell, and it turns out he can make a mean cup of coffee.
It sounds like an ordinary kid-fic coffee shop AU, but look a little closer and nothing is quite what it seems.
Indecent Proposal by sabrecmc, 75 k > words, Indecent Proposal fusion.
One million dollars for one night. That could change your life.
Series: Rockabye Verse by BladeoftheNebula, 77 k > words, Firefighter Steve Rogers, Alpha/Omega.
Cute alphas didn’t appear out of nowhere to help ruined omegas. That was a widely accepted fact.
Tony Stark had always known his life wouldn’t be easy as a genius omega in an alpha’s world. But not even he predicted getting knocked up and forced to move to a small town in the middle of nowhere.
Four (Or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark by scifigrl47, 78 k > words, Humor, Kidnapping.
There are four reasons for kidnapping Tony Stark. Tony's sick of all of them. Well, there's potentially a fifth, but it's highly unlikely that Captain America will suddenly fulfill THAT fantasy. Tony's deeply disappointed about that.
Steve Rogers, as always, is oblivious. At least, that is, until someone who isn't him kidnaps Tony. Then he's just pissed.
Down in Lonesome Town by resurrectedhippo, 79 k > words, Endgame Fix-It.
“Why do I always find my way back to you?”
Maybe Tony didn’t necessarily return to Steve, but fate is a funny little thing, and after living a life of loss, Steve wants something that’s his to keep.
After the universe is restored, Steve is lost without any direction. Retiring from the Avengers, he moves across the country and ends up building a house by a misty blue lake. Across the bridge is Tony Stark’s new workshop.
I like me better (when I'm with you) by I_write_things_sometimes, 79 k > words, Friends to Lovers, Getting Together.
If you ask either of them how they got together, they'd go back to an unremarkable night filled with expensive food, rich donors, and lots of schmoozing. And, of course, the anxiety attack that started it all.
"Not recognizing someone was strange enough, but the longer the two men spoke with — or, more accurately at — Tony, the more convinced Steve was that the conversation was unwanted, at least on Tony’s part.
The first clue was that Tony was actively leaning away from the men he was talking to. Steve had learned firsthand that Tony was an incredibly tactile person. When he wanted to talk to you, Tony engaged completely; he’d sling his arm around your shoulders, squeeze your arm, or drag you around as he talked, walked and usually did at least two other things. Even when he argued, Tony was often immediate and in his opponent's space; Steve knew that from experience.
Right now? Tony was scanning the outskirts of the room rather than making eye contact with the men near him. If Steve had to guess, Tony was looking for the nearest exit."
Or, the way Steve Rogers and Tony Stark became friends and then more.
Upon Waking by Winterstar, 80 k > words, Serious Injuries.
A story of recovery. In a world without superheroes, Tony Stark, the disinherited son of a billionaire, goes to Afghanistan as an embedded media star, only to be held hostage for months until he’s rescued. During his recovery, his therapist Doctor Bruce Banner prescribes an unusual treatment; volunteer work at a rehab center. He meets an eclectic assembled group including a vet who thinks he’s Thor, a physical therapist who might be a spy, and an all American hero, Steve Rogers. It is Steve Rogers, the soldier in a coma, who captures his interest and, eventually, his heart.
get it hot, hit it hard by gottalovev, 86 k > words, Alternate Universe - Medieval, Alternate Universe - Game of Thrones Fusion.
Anthony is unexpectedly brought back to Winterfell to be King in the North following his parent’s death. Frankly, he would have preferred continuing to work on his special projects - such as anonymously participating in tourneys as the Iron Man, and forging his special steel - instead of being given a crown. As for Captain Steven Rogers, he doesn't quite know how to deal with this unconventional new king.
Unfortunately, their lives are shaken again when Hydra strikes.
Trapped in the Shadows by geekymoviemom, 97 k > words, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Peter Parker is Tony Stark's Biological Child.
All Steve Rogers wanted after a lifetime of war was to immerse himself in quiet, and solitude. Opening a bookstore seemed like the perfect answer. He could escape to any world that he desired, all while keeping his past firmly behind him, where it belonged.
Until the day Peter Stark walked in.
Tidal Pull by sabrecmc, 97 k > words, Octopus Tony Stark, Union Soldier Steve Rogers.
After the American Civil War, Union soldier Steve Rogers takes a chance on an opportunity to sail with the Stark Trading Company down in the Caribbean. During a terrible storm, his ship is lost. To his surprise, he survives, and ends up stranded on an island that isn't quite as deserted as he first thinks.
Or, a reverse Little Mermaid tale where Steve has to fall for the fish-man.
Two-Point Perspective by FestiveFerret, 109 k > words, Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics.

Series: Insomniac Dreaming by Scavenge4Dreams, 109 k > words, Sleep Deprivation, Insomnia.
Ten stories, of varying length, genre, and plot, all connected in some way by the theme of 'sleep'.
almeno tu nell'universo by silkspectred, 114 k > words, Post-Captain America: Civil War (Movie).
Tony drives off.
Well, he wants to.
But he can’t.
Because.
Steve Rogers is in front of his car.
Steve fucking Rogers. Is in front of Tony’s fucking car.
Series: Disney World! by Captain_Panda, 117 k > words.
To celebrate Tony’s 48th birthday, Steve and the gang go to the most magical place on Earth: Disney World!
Making Amends by TheseStoriesAreWrittenOnMyHeart, 117 k > words, Post-Captain America: Civil War (Movie).
Everything about them happened in seconds. Their first meeting was quick, with Tony landing next to the Captain, each man giving a curt nod and name in greeting. Their argument on the hellicarrier took mere seconds to escalate. Until Steve was goading Tony into putting on the suit and going a few rounds and Tony not so subtly reminding Steve that he wasn’t afraid to hit an old man. It was only seconds of staring at Tony on that New York City Street, his arc reactor dark, no rise and fall of his chest, for Steve to know that inside the tin can, was a good man. Then Ultron happened, and it took seconds for their world to change, seconds for Steve to throw his shield at Tony and for the billionaire to send a repulsor blast back. They went from laughing and relaxing to standing on an edge thousands of feet above solid ground. And now…now everything’s changed. And all it took was a combination of seconds; of decisions made, actions performed and words spoken that they couldn’t get back. Just a few ticks of the clock for their world to shatter.
It’ll take more than that to make things right.
Catching Lightning in a Bottle by sabrecmc, 120 k > words, Alternate Universe - No Powers, Alternate Universe - Sweet Home Alabama Fusion.
College student Tony meets janitor Steve at MIT and they fall blissfully in love, until Howard happens and things fall apart. One divorce paperwork snafu courtesy of the ever-helpful Jarvis, and ten years later, Tony has to get re-divorced from Steve.
This does not go as he imagines.

Will the truth put a stop to their slowly progressing romance, or is a family with Tony exactly what lonely Alpha!Steve has always wanted?
The Highwayman's Baronet by mariana_oconnor, onsp, 125 k > words, Alternate Universe - Regency, Adventure & Romance, Highwayman AU.
Steve Rogers has returned from the war. He has made his fortune, but lost everything in return. He is reeling from grief and at a loss of what to do with himself when the son of an old friend writes to offer him a home. Can he uncover the traitor, save the handsome baronet, and avoid being hanged as a highwayman?
A Regency AU featuring highwayman!Steve, Baronet!Tony, treason, nefarious plots and a dash of magic.
The Mob Boss and The Mechanic by RunningInThePouringRain, 132 k > words, Mob Boss Steve Rogers, Mechanic Tony Stark.
Steve Rogers has a past that led to him becoming The Captain, the most notorious mob boss in Brooklyn.
Tony Stark has a past that led to him leaving home at 18, setting up his own garage and trying to get on with his life as best he could.
When Tony is hired to fix Steve's bike, Steve knows he is screwed. Tony Stark is sassy, doesn't take any of his bullshit and has eyes to die for and Steve absolutely knows he shouldn't go anywhere near him yet he finds himself drawn into whatever this thing with Tony is. With both the police and Hydra closing in around him, a rising body count and a team to protect, Steve needs to do whatever it takes to protect his family but he still can't seem to distance himself from the Mechanic that has captured his attention and quite possibly his heart.

"I'm sorry. Repeat that again." Tony leaned forward in his seat from across the table. He even stuck a finger in his ear as if he was cleaning it out. "I don't think I heard you right."
Fury rolled his eyes-- or well, eye. "You and Rogers need to go undercover as a married couple in a community out on Long Island."
--
After Civil War, Tony and Steve are sent on an undercover mission as a couple to try and find Hydra informants. Somehow, they end up with Peter as their undercover son who decides to play matchmaker even if the two of them are doing their best to ignore their feelings after Siberia.

Series: Don’t Look too Closely (all the angles are oblique) by shaenie, 161 k > words, Dom/sub.

He’ll report directly to me,” Fury says. “As it is, your identity as Captain America is not public knowledge and it will remain that way until I say otherwise. That said, if you think you can get Tony Stark to work with you if you disclose that information, you have permission to do so.”
Series: Ahead by a Century by JehBeeEh, 164 k > words, Alternate Universe - No Powers, Meet-Cute.

To Have My Time Again... by WilmaKins, 166 k > words, Canon Divergence - Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 (Movie).
It's been two years since Siberia, and Tony Stark is still dealing with the fallout - personal and political. Life is quite complicated enough, without Bruce falling through a wizards roof yelling that Thanos is coming.
Thor and Loki are stalling, but time is running out. The fate of the universe is at stake. Steve Rogers is back in the picture. Really, the last thing Tony needs is for their plan to go horribly wrong and bring Howard Stark forward in time.
But his Dad *is* standing in his office, whether he likes it or not.
So, it looks like Tony will have to fix that mess too.
peter's stars by IronPengu, parkrstark, 175 k > words, Homelessness, Alternate Universe, Superfamily.

So, he really doesn't have time to date the billionaire that flirts with him everyday as he buys his cup of coffee. Even if he did, he can't let himself fall for the man. Because if he knew that he lived from a backpack and showered in a public bathroom there's no way he'd still want him…right?
Maybe Tomorrow by scifigrl47, 178 k > words, Fluff, Found Family, Historical AU, Movie AU.
Tony Stark may well be the richest man in America. In the depths of the Great Depression, that's no small claim. When a plot is hatched for him to take in an orphan for a week, everyone knows it's a publicity stunt. No one knows it better than Officer Steve Rogers, but he's got a job to do, and he's going to do it. Doesn't mean he's going to approve.
