Anyone walking past gear station would hear the raised voices. If they went to investigate, they would be greeted with the sight of one of the longstanding subway trainers and the former champion of Unova who had ‘pulled a Red’, similar features making it impossible to ignore the family connection between them.

“You don’t get to say anything, Hilda! You left! The world got too tough so you ran away and left us all behind!”

“That isn’t what happened-”

“You stopped answering my calls! You vanished off the face of the earth with a madman who hates you still walking around free!”

“I left a note-”

“You left a note with our mom! I didn’t even know her, not really. But I found your friends, they hadn’t heard from you either! You could have been dead, Hilda! I was afraid you were-”

Silence then, that stretches between them. Hilda tugs her hat down, hiding her eyes. “I had to. If I didn’t go, I’d have been lying to myself.”

“Then maybe you should have. Look, I have to get to work.” Hilbert turned away, heading toward the ‘Employees Only’ door. “My shift ends at 7. If you care.” and he doesn’t wait for her response, slamming the door behind him.

Hilda stares at it for a long moment. “… My Xtransciever broke.” She whispered, knowing he couldn’t hear her. “I coul-.” but the words caught in her throat. She could have come back, replaced it, gotten in touch with everyone. She didn’t. She hadn’t been ready to step foot on Unova again. “Fuck.”

“Touya is more me than the name I gave to you now. I would like to stay, even past earning back the other pieces of me. The subway is a part of me. I don’t know what I am without it anymore. I like being here with you and Emmet, I like being part of all of it.” It was true.

The childish excitement he’d once held for the Subway had turned into something deeper, even marred by what it’s keepers had taken from him. He was devoted to it. The world had no need for the ideals of the boy he’d been and he was happy to serve as attendant to the whims of his fae bosses.

hilbert’s aura is more like a lightning strike, or the moments right before one. it’s got a pressure to it - not a strong one without being bonded to zekrom, but enough that if one was sensitive to them and knew how zekrom felt, it would be impossible to not draw similarities
