Nodding, Mia looked back at her drink, pondering what she would respond with. What did she want out of Aaron? “I don’t know, maybe just, to feel less lonely. My last relationship ended badly and my life just went downhill from there. It’d be great if this could just be a new start. Something to get my mind off what I’ve gone through.”
Avery nodded, “I get that.” She didn’t have much to forget, but a nice distraction didn’t hurt anyone. “Isn’t there a saying, though, that you should learn to not be lonely by yourself and then find someone? Not that I’m telling you not too go for it because please do, I just don’t want to see you get hurt.”

A slight nervousness coursed through her, worried that this wouldn’t be as enjoyable for him as it was for her, but the reaction Avery got from her slight touch at his jeans had her grinning. She pressed a little further, feeling his arousal and subsequently increasing hers. The back of couch gave her the support she needed to start the unbuttoning of his pants, the kiss only distracting her slightly as she kissed him back. She groaned, wanting to speed this along but not wanting to ruin the moment either. Her arms wrapped around his neck again as he picked her up, nibbling at his neck before she found herself on his bed. Avery stared up at him, eyes going wide slightly as she caught sight of his torso, “holy crap.” She muttered, her own hands running over his body before pulling him closer.

Ryan never had many friends, but Avery was one of the first true ones she acquired and she could not be more happy. They met through Nate, but that was not why they grew so close. “He has his own place, right? I hope he went home. I’m sure my uncle would kick him out once he sees I’m gone. I need to get my own place–living at home is too much anymore.” Ryan needed her own place, with her family becoming suffocating and her uncle unhappy about the news of who her real father is. “But, what he did–He kissed another girl. I don’t mean on the cheek, I mean full on make out with Bliss. I understand people treat her nicer because she was nearly murdered, but he had no right to just do that.” She was bitter, very bitter and it was showing. She did not care, she would tell Avery anything she needed to know, if anyone could set him straight it was her. “Thanks, but I should go home.” She nodded, before raising an eyebrow. “An egg and a guy? Was he in the egg? Tell me more about this guy!”
Avery frowned slightly, nodding her head. “He does have his own place. With you not there it is only right. If I hadn’t acquired a roommate recently, or had an extra room, I’d offer it to you. Just to get you out of your house.” She really did wish she had an extra room for Ryan to move in. It would have been absolutely perfect to have her around more often. Her mouth fell open as her friend explained what had happened. It was a shock, seeing as everything seemed to be getting better. At least that’s what Avery had thought. “He did what?!” Her head shook, “It doesn’t matter what she’s been going through, he can’t do that to you. He can’t want to be with you, and then make out with someone else.” She sighed, more annoyed than anything. Avery knew she’d need to talk to him, at least to try and understand why he seemed to be acting out again. She felt bad for mentioning the guy she had met since Ryan and Nate weren’t doing so well, but the girl had asked so where was the harm in talking about it. “Sadly, no, he wasn’t in the egg. I met him at the potluck and then again today at the coffee shop. He’s so hot, and just...I don’t even know how to describe him.”

“Because you stole them Avery! That’s not like you! And that’s definitely not something you should be doing!” Nate scolded back, feeling a lot like a dad in those moments, rather than her brother. Still, he was fiercely protective of her, and only wanted her to do good things, rather than get caught up in all of this mess, seeing that that could only lead to more trouble. “Avery, what the hell’s gotten into you?”
Avery rolled her eyes, just because he was her brother, didn’t mean she had to listen to him. Nor, did she just have to sit there and take what he was saying as the law. “Nothing’s gotten into to me! I’m exactly the same person I was when we met. Just because you haven’t adjusted, doesn’t mean you can judge me on every little thing I do.” She huffed, a frown still on her face. “Plus, I could ask the same to you. What did you do to Ryan? And why are you so adamant on messing up a good thing?”

Mia took a sip of her coffee as well, smiling at her friend. “Yeah, I understand that. It’ll be great. I’m sure you’ll get everything you want from him, you’re sly and smart and cute.” Mia set her cup down, looking at it. “I don’t know how we did. We are pretty lucky, I just hope it ends up well.”
“I guess we were pretty lucky to meet them, in the same night too.” Avery smiled, “what are you hoping to get out of it?”

Henley chuckled lightly at her noises, playing deeper into that and seeing the true effect he had on her. Nodding slowly at her words, he carried her and let their torsos collide with each other before he started his trek out of the place. “My place it is.” He muttered, giving her a look, before kissing back at her. She was relatively small, so Henley had no problem carrying her under her thighs down the sidewalk, watching for obstacles, and his place was pretty close down the street from the public spot that had bumped into each other.

The trek practically flew by, literally too wrapped up him to even think about how they were in public. Something had clearly gotten into her, but she couldn’t complain. Avery would have never thrown herself at anyone, except this was exactly what she wanted. It had been since she first met Henley at the potluck. She moaned as he pushed her against the wall, feeling how turned on he was as he searched for the keys. A hand ran down his chest, relishing in the muscle she found there before reaching between them to run her hand along the zipper of his jeans.

“Well of course you’re one of a kind.” Nate believed it to a degree, despite the sense that he wished they could have been more alike. He watched her, and just chuckled lightly, trying to ease his own mind, really hoping that whatever she was about to reveal to him wouldn’t be too shocking. “No. Of course it’s not about the drugs.” It was. And about who she was spending her time with. But Nate didn’t want her to get defensive again. Then, her answer left him defeated and frustrated. “Avery! Why? What’s wrong with you!?”
Avery gave him a look, knowing he didn’t approve of how she was spending her time. If she didn’t get caught, it shouldn’t have been a big deal. She didn’t say anything to him about what he was doing. Avery scoffed, “Nothing’s wrong with me! God, Nate, why do you always do this? You’re my brother, not my dad. Plus, you had no objection taking them before, so don’t question where they’re from.” She rolled her eyes, annoyed more than anything. “I’m not telling you how to spend your free time, so just stay out of it.”

“I’d like that.” He whispered back, giving her a short grin, letting his hands wrap around her ass, pulling her in close, before easily sliding his hands further down the back of her thighs and easily picking her up in one fell swoop. “Your place or mine sweet thing?” This was almost too easy, and before long, Henley knew that with this infiltration, it would be hard for her to get out of anything. In fact, he was positive he’d be able to get information out of her despite barely knowing her. He had to play the field to get the best results though, and Avery was his best shot.
Avery hummed as he grabbed at her ass, letting out a small squeak of surprise as he lifted her up. She wrapped her legs around him, giggling as she attached herself to him. “Yours,” she stated simply. “My roommate could be home.” The last thing she wanted to worry about was Mia being home and witnessing any part of this. She wanted to enjoy being with Henley, and to not overthink any part of this.

“Time is a concept created by humans to be used by humans to measure the things we do. No matter if the day is ten hours or thirty hours long, the way we spend it will still be the same. I, too, have lost track of time though. I also don’t find it worth keeping.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone explain it that way. It’s quite fascinating, and somehow makes sense. I probably keep track of time way too much.”

“Well, that’s just stupid.” Nate muttered, before his thoughts jumped to an entirely different topic, one that he had been discussing with Brooks at potluck. And he had burning questions for Avery. “Yeah, well…it’s cool that you found it. I think there were only a couple spread around town, so, it’s more than I can say for myself finding anything.” He paused after a moment, his smile growing a bit weary. “Hey…Avery…I need to ask you something. And, I don’t want you to get upset with me. It’s just something I heard.” He didn’t want to get himself into even more trouble with her. “Did you steal those comics you gave me?”
Avery chuckled, “I’m one of a kind, Nate. Only natural that I’d find a very rare golden egg.” Her eyebrows waggled for emphasis, replaying a conversation from the potluck in her head. At the change of subjects, her eyes narrowed as she looked over at him. Nate was acting weird, caught off guard by where this was leading too. “This isn’t about the drugs again, is it?” They’d already fought about that, not wanting a repeat. She was surprised by the question, laughing because she hadn’t expected it. “Yeah, I did. They were rather easy to get.”

He couldn’t help but try to manipulate her in anyway possible, and with her little reveal, he realized that this was going to be much easier than he initially intended and expected it to be. He was going to be able to stave her in only the worst possible ways, but not before he got to know a little bit more about her. Today must have been his lucky day. “Oh, definitely not. If I get to spend some time with you, I know I’ll have a good day.” He muttered softly into her ear as he leaned closer into her, their bodies seemingly pressing into each other. “We can take it somewhere else, if you’d like.”
Her fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck, the smile still on her face as he whispered in her ear. She could say the same about him, this day taking a completely different turn than Avery expected this morning. Maybe this was what Mia was talking about, going with the flow and not overthinking the situation. Avery’s body was responding to his touch in all the right ways, and stopping that now would surely impact her day negatively. She kissed along his jawline, speaking softly as she got near his ear. “Let’s get out of here.”

“It’ll be fine.” Mia reassured her roommate once more. She was right, it was a small town and she had probably seen everyone living here at least a dozen times now. “Avery, you’re really overthinking this. This is gonna sound super cheesy but relax, have fun, let life take you where it takes you.” Still holding onto her hand, she gave her an encouraging smile, squeezing once more before pulling away.
Avery sighed, taking a drink of her coffee while it was still hot. “I know you’re right. It’s just been awhile since I’ve ever wanted anything from a guy, sex or otherwise.” A small smile came upon her face at the reassurances from her friend. “How did we both end up with guys? Easter should be considered the best holiday ever.”

Nate let go of her in the embrace, happily taking her in from before. He looked down at her, disbelief spotted across his face, before he found the golden egg in her hands. Taking it slightly, he listened to her words, mostly in amazement. “This is awesome.” He muttered as he examined it before she told him what was inside. His brows furrowed. “Wait…what? A piece of paper was inside?” He was thoroughly confused now. “What the hell? That’s…stupid. No offense. You must have been searching for it for a long time though.”
Avery thought it had been pretty awesome too, or at least the concept of it before she had found it. She wanted to enjoy the day acting like a child, which she did, but the reward wasn’t what she wanted in the slightest. Maybe besides seeing Henley again. Her head nodded, “Yup, just a piece of paper. Like a fortune cookie.” A dumb fortune cookie. She would have rather gotten one that was empty. “None taken. I’m pretty upset about it myself. Mia and I had been searching all day for it, and although fun, it was nothing that I would have wanted.”

“I’m sure you’ll see him again, knowing you.” Amelia said encouragingly, taking her hand and squeezing it, knowing that anyone who turned down Avery was insane “Who wouldn’t want to date you? You’re smart, cute, funny.” Pausing for a second when Avery asked if she would date her, she replied “Yeah, I would.” Honestly, she had thought about asking Avery out when she first met her but she didn’t know if Avery, swung that way.
“I can’t go looking for him, that’d be weird. It’s a small town, we’re bound to run into each other at one point or another.” Avery nodded agreeing, feeling reassured by her friend. “I am all of those things, but I’m also eccentric and I don’t typically go out like everyone else my age does.” She had as of late, but there were still plenty of nights she stayed home with John Snow instead. Avery could tell Mia wasn’t lying, feeling even better now. “Thank you.”

Henley grinned back down at the young woman, noticing the sparkle that seemed to be in her eyes. There was something there, something that he wanted to take advantage of entirely. He would use her for his own gain and purpose, especially seeing that she seemed so into him, which frankly was kind of a part of the plan all along. It was in that moment he remembered the bet with Aaron in not getting attached, and he knew he needed to remain loyal. “I’ll say. Hopefully my luck doesn’t run out anytime soon.” He winked down at her, letting his arms wrap around her still to keep her close while letting her know he only wanted to explore her with his wandering hands running down her back and over her curves. “Well, remind me to celebrate with you more often.”
This was going better than she could have ever hoped, wondering how it had even gotten this far in the first place. All day, though, she hadn’t been able to tell a lie. The egg coming to mind again, maybe it had meant the words literally. Any time she would have been upset to only tell people the truth, not that she lied often, she was just more abrasive than she normally would be. Avery had no reason to complain, though, with how close she was standing to Henley. “I don’t see that happening any time soon.” She smirked, his touch leaving trails along her body in all the right places. Avery hadn’t felt this way in a long time, no one having gotten this far recently. “This celebration doesn’t have to end.”

As soon as his eyes spotted her, it was a relief, to see that she was okay, even after all this time. Nate knew she had lived this long without him constantly at her side, but there was still that part in him that only wanted to make sure everything was okay with her, all the time, despite how intruding that was. Still, as her words granted him that rush of happiness, his grin grew as he took Avery in his arms, seeing that she didn’t seem high or drunk, which was also a relief all on it’s own. “Avery!” He nearly tackled her with the embrace and onset of excitement. “You found one of the golden eggs! Seriously?” He was thrilled. “That’s awesome! What was inside!?”
Avery caught her footing before completely toppling over from the hug, wrapping her arms around him. It may have only been a few months since finding out about each other, but she felt as if she’d known him forever. She figured that’s just how it was with being a twin. “Yeah!” The egg was still in her bag, pulling it out to show him. “See?” She held it out for him to take. “It was nothing exciting. Looking for it was more fun than actually opening it. All it is is some stupid piece of paper saying the truth will set you free.” Avery mocked, still upset that it wasn’t something cooler.

She was good, almost too good it seemed. And, he wasn’t sure where she was getting her information from, but he had to be more careful, especially if some girl could just call him out like that. He was still curious, he just needed to keep her at an arm’s length distance, until he could find out more about her. “The town needed a bit of fun after…all that shit went down, huh?” He muttered, though, didn’t have much more time before Avery answered him and closed the space between them. His brows lifted before a small surge of chuckles left him. This was unprecedented, but not entirely out of his morals, as he leaned in and kissed her back, letting his arms wrap slowly around her. “Do you kiss everyone you’ve just met? Or am I just lucky?”
All of the fears she had about him not liking her melted away as she felt his hands around her waist. If the only thing she got out of this was a hook up, she’d be okay with a kiss like that. As long as if it happened more than once. Maybe Pearl had been right all along about not getting attached. Avery pulled back slightly, keeping her body close to his as she grinned up at him. “You’re just very lucky.” She teased, “I’m having a good week. A small celebratory moment was needed.”
