my problem is that i want even my enemies to be madly in love with me

i wonder why the historically left-leaning and queer generation of young adults isn't joining an organization that

-is the largest propagator of global imperialism

-reinforces the capitalist infrastructure that placed a large quantity of the generation in conditions that make living in today's society a living nightmare

-actively discourages displays of individuality in terms of identity (ie enforcing largely restrictive hair and appearance regulations)

-prevents a large portion of its workforce from accessing necessary medical care despite offering it on the guise of "free healthcare" on the basis of mission readiness

-feeds on and recruits said workforce with predatory tactics, encouraging enlistment from high school graduates with little to no educational prospects and economic movement caused by the government that it enforces

-has no regulations on work hours and forces its soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines to commit to backbreaking and stressful labor conditions due to poor manning caused by the reason stated above

-and blames the complaints of its servicemembers on the claim that "you signed up for this", with little regard for the lack of choice that many enlistees had between serving and becoming homeless

Genuinely think we should all just cut back on the things we buy, particularly commodities. Yes ideally we would all grow on own food, make our own clothes, build our own homes, etc. but a lot of us simply aren’t at that point and I think a stepping stone for that is simply buying less things we don’t need. I’m not saying you can never have a venti mocha latte or buy a new candle again. Just maybe we should try to break away from our ingrained and insatiable consumerist impulses and start doing less of that so that we, both as individuals and as a society, can eventually get to the point where can outright stop purchasing commodities especially those created from exploited labor etc. We have to break ourselves of our consumerist behaviors and mindsets if we can ever hope to destroy capitalism and build something better. And in fact buying less things feeding the capitalist system plants the seeds of revolution and is itself an act of resistance. I know that sentiment might sound silly but I mean hell that’s why boycotts work.
