i feel like people keep interchanging MAINS, EXCLUSIVES, and AFFILIATES and haphazardly using them without really recognizing what they mean, so here's a brief description of the differences.

MAINS are the primary group of roleplay blogs you interact with on a regular basis. you might choose to prioritize them in terms of replies or ask memes, or focus on their dynamics more often than you do others.

EXCLUSIVES are the only version of that character you will write with. as an example, if you add a canon superman or a princess jasmine to your exclusives, it means you will not write with or follow any duplicates of those characters.

** this can also include FACECLAIM EXCLUSIVES, where you won't follow duplicate faceclaims of your favorite blogs. weird example, but if you're writing with a blog using tom hanks as their faceclaim, you might say you're faceclaim exclusive with that blog and refuse to write with or follow any other blogs using tom hanks.

AFFILIATES are blogs with extensive ties to your blog's canon. their characters are weaved into your storyline to such a degree that you cannot separate them from one another. maybe they're your primary or single ship partner. maybe you created the characters together. maybe they're from the same piece of media and you want to establish their significant ties to your muse and their story. this is a step up from exclusives, and their url is often linked in your pinned or placed on your rules page.

I'm both deeply envious of this, and also deeply concerned on wtf CyberLife is doing with its design choices.

Realizing that the volume of alcohol I consume doesn’t matter because I can change my processing rate.

I can drink what I like and either process it all at once (get shitfaced) or slow it down and be buzzed for hours.

No, there definitely... was something in the water. Avery frowned, forgetting her jerky for a moment to peer closer at the screen of her phone. She tried to zoom in, but the pixels only blurred, and she cursed. Looking up, she squinted out towards the frothy waves, trying to follow shapes and shadows but unsure if they were actually a thing or just... light playing through the water.

"Jeeze, am I seeing shit already?" She rubbed at her eyes with the back of her hand, mindful of the phone still gripped in it. With the sun shining down, and the wild waves tossed even more about by the winds... it wasn't out of the question that she was imagining things. Stories of mermaids come from figments glimpsed between the waves, she told herself with a snort. Just as people saw shapes in clouds and faces in stone.

She took another bite of her jerky, figuring she might recline on the boulder for a while to relax and watch for more penguins. The waters near shore frothed, and she watched with a tilt to her head. Penguins burst from the water, squawking and flailing about as they raced haphazardly up the sands. Avery immediately jerked upright, readying her phone to snap a shot of the incoming predator. She had seen a seal, then? Or something at least was scaring them out of the water. Her stomach churned, uncomfortable with the idea of watching the small, cute penguins getting attached... but wasn't that how all those nature documentaries were shot? Just having to sit back and let nature take its course?

Her growing moral dilemma was, thankfully or not, short lived. The grey and black form that erupted from the surf made her all but choke on the bit of food left in her mouth, coughing harshly as the penguins shrieked all the louder, and something massive thrashed about against water and sand.

Tears slightly blurring her vision, Avery sucked in chilly, salty air as she stared at the scene. Red flowed into churning waters, staining particles of sand. Predator caught prey. Almost numbly, she snapped a photo with her phone, but as the thing--it was massive--chowed down...

It looked.... wrong.

Like. All of it.

Avery gaped, getting up slowly to carefully maneuver from her perching boulder to the next beside it, then the next, till she crossed enough to slide off the rocks entirely and onto sand. She left her bag behind, too caught up in befuddlement over what was wrong with this animal. It looked like a seal, but... its front half was wrong? Was it sick? Deformed?

It took her a few more slow, gradual steps, before her brain began to finally register what it was adamantly refusing to accept or acknowledge. Those weren't flippers holding onto the pieces of penguin. That wasn't an elongated seal's muzzle coated in blood. Frozen, she could only stare.

Mermaids came from figments glimpsed between the waves, after all.

The small blue penguins barely did much to quell his appetite. The merman was lucky if he was able to get two, as once the proverbial alarm was rung, he would need to wait for the calm to settle before trying to hunt, again.

It didn't help that these little morsels were so much smaller than the ones back where he was from. Despite the environment being harsher, he almost wished he could go back there. He knew he belonged there.

He just didn't know how to navigate back. Or even how he got so off-course to begin with.

But at least he had food at all. He should count himself lucky.

Speaking of which, a few were testing the warm waters. His silvery splotchy pelt served better for the dark waters and silvery ice than it did for these clear blue waves, but the penguins were largely none the wiser.

They were fast, though.

His large slick body cut through the waves gracefully, but anyone who was well-versed in aquatic fauna would be able to tell how underweight he was. Still incredibly muscular and strong, but he had lost weight.

And it was starting to take a toll on him. Maybe a seal would come by that he could kill and eat. Cyrus would be able to feast on that carcass for a while and hopefully put on enough weight to survive the harsh temperatures of home, once he figured out how to get back.

Closer, now...ever closer...they were just within reach. All he had to do was wait...be still...not give himself away.

Until...!

He charged, applying his full speed and hastily torpedoing up to the shore to snatch the slowest straggler of the penguins in his jaws, bursting out of the water in a flurry of ocean spray and blood, the anguished cries of the prey animal being crushed in his powerful jaws.

He was fully in view on the shoreline, scrambling to catch another one of the tiny penguins before they could escape. But, unfortunately, they were much faster on land than he and they narrowly slipped away from his claws, the large merman huffing in frustration.

But oh well...at least he had food. He began to bite into it, completely unaware of the audience he had on the shore.

Lessons from Minecraft with Nines

Playing a magpie origin is amazing, even if being a block tall is... look it's too easy to get lost, and hits too close to home.

Slow falling is very fun. So is jumping off very, VERY high things and not getting any damage.

Keeping everything on safety mode/whatever "no enemies" mode is, means raiding dungeons is easy AF.

Magpie gremlin mode is real.

There are large, LARGE bags.

Raiding + Large Bag = SO MUCH LOOT.

There is a special kind of feeling that comes from depositing all of said loot into multiple large boxes, and then getting Nines to come see.

Bonus happy warm feeling: Nines going through first disbelief that I filled the large bag and regular inventory. Then awe at how much loot I threw into the boxes. Then finally anger realizing he has to sort everything into his various other boxes for organizational purposes :]

Bonus bonus: Nines getting frustrated because some of his organizational boxes are now full due to so much loot :]

We both now have full diamond armor sets, have enough saddles to furnish a small army, along with maybe half as much horse armor, and I now understand why cats preen and strut after bringing their kills home cuz I'm absolutely doing the same.

I absolutely can't wait to find the next dungeon area for speed raiding.

Your partner doesn't get annoyed with you easily. He loves you, he loves everything about you.

Except for your oral fixation.

You're like a toddler, sticking everything in your mouth. Holding pens and pencils between your lips while you consider your word choice, chewing on your hoodie strings while you type on your computer, biting your nails on your free hand as you scroll on your phone. He always provides you with gentle reminders to stop. He offers you gum to chew on or hard candy to suck instead, but it's only a brief respite from you absent-mindedly putting things in your mouth.

He catches you for a fourth time, chewing on your thumb nail as the two of you watch a movie on the couch. He sighs and takes hold of your hand, pulling it away from your mouth gently.

"I told you to stop chewing, baby."

"'m sorry. I didn't even notice I was doing it."

"Do you need something in your mouth that bad?"

"it's just stimulating."

'Then here," he says as he slips two large fingers past your lips, resting them on your tongue. With your mouth full, all you can do is raise your eyebrows at his actions.

"If you want stimulation that bad, take it," he replied to your expression before returning his attention to the TV. You accept his invitation and suck his thick fingers contently through the rest of the film.

Maybe your oral fixation isn't so annoying, as long as he gives you the right things to put in your mouth.
