okay so, ruby arias is the canon daughter of samantha arias aka reign in season 3 of supergirl - currently, her canon self is twelve years old, and probably around annoying the heck out of the superfriends, though this lovely lass herself is her future self.

specifically, from eleven years from now.

in her own time, the worldkillers have destroyed everything that she knows and loves, killing her friends, family and pretty much anyone that stands in their way. ruby, however, has been spared from this. due to her innocence, reign has not been able to follow through with her threats of killing her human counterpart’s daughter. she kills those that are unjust and ungodly, neither of which is ruby. because of this, ruby has had to watch everyone die, unable to do anything to stop it from happening.

that is, until the legion appear. their world, the 31st century, is also ravaged by the worldkillers and they’ve put it on themselves to go back in time and help the heroes of 2018 either kill reign and her fellow wordkillers or prevent them from becoming the monsters they all know intimately. having knowledge of ruby’s half krytonian side and the abilities that come attached to that along with the intimate knowledge of reign, it was viewed helpful and smart to pluck the young woman out of her timeline to help heal another. she agreed without a second to think, she has nothing left to live for so may as well try something different to restore life back to those who have lost it.

ruby’s powers are very temperamental. she often struggles to call upon them on a whim. it’s been discovered that her powers are directly tied to her emotional state. if she’s upset or angry or anything remotely out of control, her powers mirror them and acts accordingly. she has to concentrate very hard to find a focus point where she can call upon them without harming herself, those around her and objects.

her initial plan was to work from the background and allow the legion to do what they need to do but, with the collision of worlds, she has no other option to be out in the open. she still goes by ruby (because she panicked when someone asked her name and she just said her own out of habit) but never gives out her surname or personal history. she’s trying to remain inconspicuous but this is ruby arias we’re talking about, the girl has never had the ability to be subtle, not even as a child. 

because she is almost the double of her mother, ruby decided to cut her hair short in the hopes that it might add another layer to her attempts to remain hidden. in reality, it just kind of makes her sad. she misses her long hair because, other than the supergirl necklace that she wears without fail, it was one of the few things that actually reminded her of her mother - gave her a connection to the woman that hasn’t existed for almost eleven years now, and she’s often staring at her own reflection in passing, more often than not yearning for her long locks to be back.

      ruby originally had no intention of listening to what the man had to say, but something caught her attention and she couldn’t help but share in his gazing at the building. would this really be a safe place for someone like her? yes, she has the help of the legion, but to what end? they already know their powers and are solid in them, yet ruby is not. she can barely call upon her kryptonian abilities nor can she really control them when they have surfaced. she hates it, and not just because it’s supposed to be easy for her. it’s because she might hurt someone else.

“the training rooms... what -- what kind of powers would they be built to withstand?” she asks, curiously. “are you sure that it’s even a good idea?” in theory, the idea sounds nice - safe even, but in reality? it sounds like a collection. a collection of superpowered beings from different universes. does she really want to put her trust in that?

          Tension settled on her shoulders and she swore this was the day she finally snapped – truly became a Luthor and… her internal tirade was cut short when the barista called her name. The little muppet who took her coffee was lucky they were quick on their feet at this coffee shop. With a sweet smile, she thanked the woman behind the counter. Cup in hand, she took a sip and finally felt human. “Thank fuck for coffee.” She let the words roll out with a huff.       “oh, i’m not -- i work...” ruby trails off when she realises who she’s talking to. “--- here.” of all the people she can run into while living in this godforsaken place, it has to be lena luthor. she’s done well so far to avoid those she grew up around and was even thinking that she would survive whatever’s going on without doing so, that she could maybe return to her main mission, yet... here she is. “i’m -- i’m sorry, i have... it’s my break. excuse me,” she awkwardly shuffles between the bodies and makes her way to the door. she can’t be caught now.

      ruby has done a lot of dumb things in her time - going for a gun almost her entire body length while in front of reign at the age of twelve for one - but she never thought that testing different ways of eating pizza would be one of them. though, it’s safe to say, she’s fully intrigued by the idea. “i mean... i know cpr?” she eventually answers, laughing as she tucks short strands back behind her ear. “it’s like one of my aunts used to say: there’s no discovery without risk.” thank you, alex danvers, for the advice.

      raven walks into a room she hopes encompasses the essence of quietness. this world is even louder than the last- or more so since fear and anxiety cloud the air like a fog. she could feel herself growing anxious over the entire situation and knows she needs to meditate. she slips the door shut, places on her cape which the familiar wait soothes her somewhat. her legs cross on the floor and she begins to however, vibrant blue eyes lost behind lids. ❝ azarath… metrion… zinthos… azarath… metrion… zinthos… azarath- ❞ someone throws the door open, raven loses her focus and hits the floor and a nearby window shatters. ❝ will no one allow me a moment of peace ??? ❞

      ruby is lost. simply put, she’s lost. her phone no longer works - granted, it’s technology that exists eleven years from now and the phone is yet to even be a concept on a piece of paper - and her sense of direction has never been good. she’s separated from the legion and has no idea how to locate her mother, so to fill her time she’s taken to exploring. now faced with what seems like a very frustrated woman and the sound of glass smashing nearby, she’s starting to wish she had stayed in bed that morning. “would it help if i said i was lost and have absolutely no idea where i am, or that you were in here?” she answers, quite sheepishly. the last thing she wants to do is piss someone off -- especially someone who seems to have powers. “sorry.”

      i’ll eventually get around to posting the intros for my other babbies, but for now i’ll post one for ruby since she’s technically the most complicated of mine thus far:

the basics of ruby will stay the same, she’s the canon daughter of sam arias, just... older and time displaced. while the older version exists here, the younger counterpart also does, too. so, while 23yr old ruby is gallivanting about, so is her 12yr old self.

in future!ruby’s time, mostly everyone she knows or loves have been slaughtered by the worldkillers in their attempt to purge the earth of evil and sinners. it’s canonically shown that reign can’t kill ruby because of her innocence (in the show, at least, i’m still to learn where our sam is in the timeline) and that continued to ring true in the future, hence why she was left alive when most of those around her were killed.

genetically, ruby is half kryptonian and her powers didn’t manifest until she was 22; when in a moment of duress, her eyes exploded with laser-like focused beams of light, eventually saving herself and a friend from the inevitable end. she worked closely with said friend to hone her emerging powers but she could never truly master them. it was found that they were highly dependent on her emotional state. she wants to improve and become a hero like she used to dream of being when she was a child, but with often vacant powers and an inability to keep her head on straight during the fight, she firmly believes that she’ll never become that version of herself.

a year after her initial powers revelation, her time was visited by the legion in their quest to stop reign. she begged for them to let her help and, after a while, they allowed her passage with them; she believed in their cause wholeheartedly, and honestly, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to go to a time where your mother isn’t a homicidal alien ?? no one would pass that up, and she surely couldn’t either.

it was during her time with the legion while back in her 12yr old self’s timeline that she, along with the others, found themselves trapped in this mash-up of universes. she, just like anyone else, wants to go home to the place that’s familiar, but for her that familiarity is being torn apart by a monster, and this is probably going to be her only opportunity to change the fate of herself, of her time, and of her mother. she can’t waste time getting to know the other side nor deal with the politics of such a catastrophic event when she only has one thing in mind: save sam arias.

she also normally has long flowing hair much like her mother’s, but in a bid to blend in and not reveal herself, she has cut it short. though, since this is ruby, i doubt her identity will stay secret to those who know either sam or her younger self for long because dumb dumb.

      more will be added eventually and as i plot with you wonderful beans, but for now this is what i have and i hope you will love her as much as i do :)
