Hmm, what?
Sorry, I- I zoned out there. Long shift yesterday. I’m just... really exhausted. What were you saying before I so rudely almost passed out in my coffee?

“I’m not usually this forward and I have no idea if you’re here with anyone, but I couldn’t help but be completely drawn to you, even from across the room– would you like to dance?”
“I- Sure. If you don’t mind be being completely hopeless on the dance floor.” Auden was on the verge of declining the offer, however, she recognised that voice; though she wasn’t sure from where. “Sorry, do I know you from somewhere? Your voice sounds so familiar.” Masquerades were so annoying.

It’s more stressful than it looks!
More stressful than a courtroom full of idiots that can’t even understand basic forensic evidence?

I don’t even know what this is that I’m eating but it’s delicious.
Man, my friends better step it up when my birthday comes around because this place is awesome. All the tiny little whatevers make me feel like a giant. This is so cool. And I would know, I am what the kids would call “cool”. —Ah, hey there fellow partygoer.
Try the weird looking round things, you won’t regret it.
Hey! Captain America! Nice choice. You’ll probably need to watch your back all night though, my brother is definitely going to want to steal that right off your head. But uh... sure. They look kinda gross though. Are you sure?

“Do you know if there’s any hard alcohol anywhere? All I keep finding is weird tasting wine.”
“Uh... I really don’t know how to help you. I opted for the little fancy glasses of orange juice. I’m sure they have more than just wine though... somewhere?”

I wouldn’t know, I’ve been here all of ten seconds and all ten have been spent at work. I might as well have just moved my stuff into the office. You’d think, California, bound not to have these issues but all these towns are the same. Mm… Good point. Here… [checks her own phone again] Try sitting in my seat, window seems to be doing it some good. I’m sure complete disaster at the Mayor’s office can be avoided in the time it takes for you to check your emails. Ha, yeah… [getting up what an act of human decency we have here] Ella Tyler: never short of struggles.
Bless you, honestly. [scooting on over to her seat, waving her phone around] God, you sound like me. The only time I leave the office is to walk my dog or make sure my brother has eaten. I- Hey! One bar! What are these walls made of; steel? Geez, a complete disaster at the mayor’s office doesn’t sound too good though. Is that were you work? Ella Tyler... Hey, I know you. You’re from my hometown! I was at your sister’s Halloween party last year. You know, before-... Well, that party probably isn’t a good memory for anyone, so let’s just leave it at, hey, I know you.

Of course. Anything to help a friend.

You’re an actual saint. Bless you. I’ll just take a second. This court date I have keeps changing and I’ve been told to keep an eye on my mail just in case.

You’re telling me, but, hey, you’re Auden. You’re that badass crime fighting butt kicker. You can literally handle anything that’s thrown your way. Even being the newbie.
Hey, okay, but you’re surrounded by other new guys, you know? There’s a full year of new guys at your college. You- [sighs] Yeah, okay. You’re right again, I am indeed a badass. [laughs] How’s college been anyway?

“Feel free to call me Mahi,” with the exception of Jules who would always her Mahi Mahi, she was used to the nickname already. “Never, don’t tell anyone but you re actually one of the few I can stand in here,” winking at the girl, she moved herself so they could head to the cafe. “Don’t worry, I can keep you some company and I’ll enjoy this time to also use my phone… But, okay, maybe grab something to eat would be nice.”
“Mahi.” Auden nodded her head once and smiled. The girl may have been her trainer and technically she was paying her for her time, but it was nice feeling like she was at least slightly making friends out here. “Aw, bless you. Frankly, you’re my favourite trainer here, and I’m not just saying that because you’re the only trainer I’ve had.” She laughed softly as she made her way to the café. “Yeah, you need to eat some time, why not right now? Besides, you can always say you’re giving me a lesson in nutrition if anyone asks why you aren’t working.”

You took the words right out of my mouth. Try turning your phone on and off, sometimes all it needs is a kick start because not even technology can keep up with schedule. That or, well, it involves a lot of waving your hands around with your phone in it.
Honestly! Is there like a network people need to get when they move here? It’s like I’m living in another country at this rate. Yeah, I guess. iPhones are so slow to turn on and off though. Patience is not my strong point. Thanks though. At least I know I’m not the only one struggling.

I think I have a few bars. Would it help to use mine?
Really? Gosh, that would be so great.

“yeah, yeah, here you go.” his phone didn’t even have a password and his its theme was still the stock, and between his teeth, he jested with half-sensitivities, whistling, “i just hope you didn’t park with a tree as your tire stopper or parked over a person, because then i don’t think any phone call or email can help you.”
“Woah, I- Thanks, I-...” Auden raised an eyebrow as she looked down at the phone. Was it new or did he seriously like having it like that? “Oh, no. I’m not the parking violator. I’m the lawyer. My client is really insistent on not paying the fine and, well, there doesn’t seem to be many other cases to take in this town.”

“The reception is indeed bad at this part of the gym, I would recommend you to get closer to the cafe. It could help you.”
“Oh. Thanks, Mahira. Sorry, I must be the worst person you’ve ever had to train. Make it up to you? I can buy you lunch while I use the café wifi?”

Can’t you just get off your phone for one hour and enjoy a nice meal with your brother? This pizza ain’t going to eat itself.
Yeah. No. You’re right. I’m sorry. Things at work are just stressful, you know? Being the new guy kinda sucks.

Does anyone else not get a signal in here?
I have emails. Emails that need read, emails that need sent. Lives hang in the balance here. Well, I mean they could. Right now it’s just a parking violation, but who knows? I can’t read my emails.

“You either save yourself or remain unsaved.”
basics;
full name: Auden Greyson
years of age: Twenty Nine
birthday: April 4th
occupation: Lawyer
faceclaim: Lyndsy Fonseca
personality;
+ hard-working, charismatic, intelligent
- controlling, skeptical, stubborn
extra bits;
Auden loves horror movies; something she inherited from her mother. Despite having practically lived one in her hometown, she still manages to sit through every Scream movie and, frankly, The Following may very well be the best show to ever grace her television. Still though, when people you know have been murdered, your brother stabbed in the leg, and your best friend drugged you and left you for some psychopath, you kind of don’t want to leave your house without your giant German Shepherd to protect you.
When her brother, Steve, was accepted into Woodsboro U, Auden insisted on coming along. Of course, half of her reasoning was because she constantly felt like she needed to be there to protect him, but after the year she had she just had to get out of that town. She needs a fresh start and that’s exactly what she’s hoping to find here.
secret;
A little over a year ago, Auden was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her treatment was aggressive and it involved having surgery to remove one of her ovaries and fallopian tubes, but soon she was officially in remission. However, lately the pain in her stomach has been coming back and she’s too scared to go back to the hospital. She knows that if her other ovary is infected she will have to get a full hysterectomy and that means she will never be able to have children.
most played;
“I could say it, but you won’t believe me. You say you do, but you don’t deceive me. It’s hard to know they’re out there, It’s hard to know that you still care.“ – Dead Hearts, Stars
“Tell me your troubles and doubts giving me everything inside and out.” – Don’t Forget About Me, Simple Minds
“Never committing to anything, you don’t pick up the phone when it rings.” – I Am Not A Robot, Marina and The Diamonds
